Chapter 7 Fall
Three days later.
Ji Beichi held his still aching waist and walked towards Xinyue Cake Shop with a slightly staggering step.
With every step he took, the dull pain in his waist seemed to remind him of what happened three days ago.
If he hadn't called his brother Duan Haonan in time to take him away from the hotel, he would have been unable to leave that place on his own.
After three days of careful recuperation at home, he was finally able to walk normally, but the injury to his waist still made it difficult for him to move.
He slowly walked into the back kitchen of the cake shop.
Ling Xixuan looked up and noticed his pale face at a glance.
Her eyes were full of concern, and she hurried forward and asked hastily:
"Brother Beichi, are you okay? Why are you so pale? Did that Lin Tian bully you again?"
Ji Beichi lowered his eyes, adjusted his collar to cover the marks on his neck, and shook his head gently, his voice sounding a little tired:
"No, I accidentally fell off my bike and hurt my waist."
"Ah? Fell off the bike?"
When Ling Xixuan heard this, she became even more nervous and said quickly:
"Are you okay? Why are you coming to work when you're injured? Just stay at home and recover!"
Ji Beichi forced a smile. School was about to start, and if he didn't go to work, the tuition fees would be a problem.
He whispered:
"It's nothing, I didn't fall hard, I'm feeling much better now, do you have a list?"
Ling Xixuan sighed, handed him two lists, and said:
"Here, there are three takeout orders, one of which I'm already doing."
"Okay." Ji Beichi took the list, glanced at it quickly, then turned and walked into the locker room.
He changed into his work clothes, took a deep breath, endured the pain in his waist, and threw himself into his busy work.
6pm.
Lin Tian walked into Xinyue Cake Shop as usual and went straight to the window seat in the corner and sat down.
He ordered a few cakes, and then, as usual, he tilted his head back in boredom, looking out the window with a casual gaze, watching the endless stream of vehicles on the street.
In the past three days.
Lin Tian is always like this, he comes to the cake shop on time, sits in the corner, orders a cake, takes a bite and then ignores everything else, then falls asleep on the table.
The shop assistants are used to this.
At this time, in the back kitchen of the cake shop, Ji Beichi was eating dinner during his break from work.
The lunch box in front of him was extremely simple, with only a few green vegetables and a few pieces of bacon in it.
He sat quietly in the corner of the kitchen, eating slowly, bite by bite.
Ji Beichi’s cell phone screen suddenly lit up. It was a message from his sister Ji Zhen.
He put down his chopsticks and clicked to check.
Ji Zhen was in the hospital receiving an IV drip.
She was bored and looking at her phone when she saw a photo in the class group. In the photo, a classmate went to the amusement park with his family.
She looked slightly envious.
The corners of the eyes are slightly red.
Pursing her lips, she also wanted to go play with her brother once.
She was afraid that if she died one day, she would feel regretful for not having played with her brother.
"Brother, the doctor just told me that I can be discharged from the hospital. It's nothing serious. I want to go to the amusement park. A classmate posted a photo of him and his parents playing in the amusement park on WeChat Moments. It looks like a lot of fun. Can we go?"
Ji Beichi looked at the message and frowned slightly.
My sister has a congenital heart disease, and the exciting rides in the amusement park are too dangerous for her.
But Ji Beichi felt very distressed because his sister had never been to an amusement park since she was a child.
He subconsciously picked up a piece of vegetable and stuffed it into his mouth, chewing mechanically while checking his account balance.
After thinking for a moment, he felt that it might be feasible to take his sister to play some mild activities.
My sister has never played it before, so it’s time to take her to play.
However, he took three days off this month and lost his full attendance bonus for this month.
If he took his sister to the amusement park, he and his sister might not be able to afford the tuition fees.
When he was thirteen years old, his parents died and he depended on his sister who was six years younger than him.
His sister was hospitalized some time ago, and he spent all the scholarships awarded by the school. Now he is financially stretched.
Just when he was in a dilemma.
Ji Zhen waited for a while, knowing that her family had no money and her brother probably didn't have much money to take her out to play. She lowered her head to look at the needle on the back of her hand, then tilted her head to look at the child who was accompanied by his family. Her eyes moistened, she sighed, and sent another message:
"Brother, I don't want to go there anymore. They say it's a scam and there's nothing fun there. It's not fun at all."
Ji Beichi's eyes gradually turned red and he was filled with self-blame. He felt that he could not give anything to his sister and even such a simple wish was difficult to fulfill.
He rubbed his eyes, trying hard to hold back the tears that were about to burst out.
After thinking it over again and again, it was only a few hundred dollars anyway, at worst he could just find a part-time job, what was so difficult about that? He stopped hesitating and quickly tapped on the screen:
"Then we won't go to the high-altitude activities. We'll go to the amusement park in a few days. My brother has money, and the boss has paid us recently. We don't have to worry about not having money to play. We have plenty of money."
The first thing Ji Zhen did when she saw the news was doubt.
"Brother, don't lie to me. I really don't want to go. I just said it casually."
Ji Beichi frowned, "Yes, I want to go. I've never been there before. School is about to start. Let's go shopping together. It won't cost much."
Ji Zhen glanced at the class group messages and saw that someone said that you can make money by helping others copy homework and helping with cleaning. She thought that after school starts, she would take the orders and help relieve some of her brother's pressure.
She turned her head and looked at the parents and child beside her, a slight smile appearing on her pale face.
I lowered my head and sent a message to my brother, "Really! That's great! That's great, thank you brother!"
Ji Beichi looked at the screen of his mobile phone, sighed, and chewed his food mechanically.
His eyes were dull.
What part-time job should he take?
