Another day.
It rained a little last night.
For homeless people, this is not a good experience.
Especially a cat.
But the black cat found a crossroads. There were western-style buildings on the opposite side. People on the road were hurriedly basking in the sun, looking lazy and contented.
All because of the echoes of this world.
The newsboy stood at the crossroads, a stack of newspapers in his waist, waving one in his hand, and shouting:
“Selling newspapers, selling newspapers, a perverted murderer was arrested, killing several dancers in three years.
…
Human traffickers are rampant on xx Street. Dozens of children were rescued yesterday.
..."
The black cat yawned, stretched, looked back with its dark green eyes, and ran away.
The breeze is blowing gently and the clouds are light.
The agile black shadow passed through the walls and roofs of the streets and alleys like gusts of wind and lightning.
My stomach is empty, time to find some food.
"Hey, look, that cat can swim!" A young student was walking along the beach when he suddenly saw a black cat jumping into the sea. He pointed it out to the female classmate next to him in surprise.
"Huh?" The female classmate leaned over and looked over, her two shiny black braids swaying. "There really is a cat? Is there a cat that is not afraid of water?"
"Yes, it's the first time I've seen it too." The female classmate was looking at the cat in the sea, and he stared at the female classmate's face and smiled foolishly.
"Ah!" The female classmate suddenly covered her mouth and cried out.
The young student came to his senses and asked what happened.
"It sank..." The female classmate was a little worried. She glanced at the young student with a hint of pleading in her watery eyes, but she didn't know how to speak.
After all, for a cat...
"I'm a good swimmer!" the young student suddenly patted his chest and said, "I'll go down and get it. You just wait here for us."
After saying that, he took off his shoes in one swoop, not being too embarrassed to take off his shirt, and rushed to the beach, diving to the place where the black cat sank.
After a few days of fishing, I became somewhat skilled at it, but it was still not easy to catch a fish. After I finally stun a fish and hold it in my mouth, I noticed that the waves on the sea had become much bigger.
When the black cat surfaced with the fish in its mouth, it saw a young man dressed as a student floating in the water, dancing and struggling hard in the sea.
There was a female student on the shore who was looking around anxiously and calling for help.
The black cat paddled over, remained silent for a second, spat out the fish in its mouth, went around behind the young student, and slapped him hard on the back of his head with one claw.
The young student was stunned by the slapping. His hands and feet stopped unconsciously for a moment. Then he heard a cat's meow in his ear and something grabbed the back of his clothes and dragged him.
How much does a grown man weigh?
If the other party does not struggle, dragging him on the sea surface will not be considered too heavy.
But for a cat...
The black cat felt that he was overdrawing his life.
Fortunately, it was not far from the coast. When it was dragged to the water level only as high as a person, the female student ran over anxiously. The sea water submerged her so much that only her head was exposed.
She raised her hands and struggled to support the young student and carry him to the shore.
The female student used both hands to rhythmically squeeze the young student's chest and abdomen.
The young student, who was actually very conscious, spat out a mouthful of water. He felt too embarrassed to face anyone, especially the person in front of him.
"I'm sorry..." The female classmate suddenly apologized, her eyes filled with tears.
"Ah?" The young student could no longer play dead. "Why are you apologizing to me? It was my own fault... I jumped down without warming up and got a leg cramp..."
"I can't swim, so I could only worry on the shore and couldn't save you."
"You were right not to go down! Otherwise, we would both be paralyzed, and that cat...that cat couldn't save two people." The young student said very seriously, and turned to look at his savior...the cat.
The black cat also looked at him and shook off the water droplets on its head.
"Why do I feel like it's looking down on me..." the young student murmured.
"Puchi!" The female student suddenly laughed.
When the young student saw her smile, he also grinned.
Silly human.
Black Cat thought.
Then his body stiffened.
﹉
"Are you really unwilling to go with us?" the female student squatted on the side of the road and asked the black cat.
The black cat squatted in place.
In order to repay his kindness, the two students treated him to a meal of dried fish.
Finally, this is the first cooked meal I had here.
But he won't be a pet.
The black cat was once a person.
It was just a few days ago.
The female student took the young student and the black cat to the alley and said goodbye, then left in disappointment.
The black cat watched them leave.
"Woo...Woof woof!" A stray dog in the alley discovered the black cat, crouched down, bared its teeth, and made threatening noises.
Glancing at it sideways, the black cat was in a depressed mood and had no interest in teasing the dog.
The black cat jumped onto the top of the wall in two steps, ignoring the barking of the dog behind him, and looked at the moon in the sky which was almost full.
The bright moonlight was like flowing water, creating a halo for the black cat.
When will the moon be full?
﹉
"There's a fire! Put it out!"
"Put out the fire first, I'll call the police."
The sound came faintly from a distance.
It came from the direction of the police station. It was not close and even with a cat's hearing it was not very clear.
The black cat hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward.
The figure was as fast as a shadow in the night, as fast as a gust of wind, as fast as lightning.
It took about ten minutes to arrive.
The fire broke out in an apartment building just a few houses away from the police station.
"Let me go! My child is still inside!" The woman in a shirt and skirt with disheveled hair tried hard to push away the people who were stopping her and rushed into the burning apartment.
The police and the public successfully stopped her.
Seeing that she couldn't rush over, the woman began to beg: "Please, save my child! She is only three months old!"
"You can't go in now. The fire is too big. Don't worry, everyone is helping to put out the fire. It will be smaller soon," the police officer comforted.
"Yes, yes. Then I will go in and help you save the child."
"Don't worry." People also tried to comfort her.
"But she is only three months old, I'm afraid she won't be able to hold on... wuwu... I just went out to buy something, who knows... please save her!" The woman couldn't help shedding tears.
"Which floor is your child on?" the police suddenly asked.
"Second floor!" The woman's eyes lit up, as if she had grasped a life-saving straw, and she said to the police: "She is on the second floor, just rush up and bring her out, it will be quick, it will only take a few seconds!"
The policeman shook his head slightly and looked away with reluctance.
The fire was so big that it was difficult to get people out of the second floor.
The woman understood what he meant.
She suddenly rushed towards the apartment building like crazy, but was quickly stopped.
"Let me go! Let go! I want to save my child, all of you let me go and let me save him by myself!"
A dark figure rushed into the door of the apartment building.
"Did something just go in?"
“It seems so.”
“I didn’t see it clearly.”
﹉
The black cat quickly found the child on the second floor.
Thick smoke enveloped her, and snot and tears came out of her little face.
It makes a faint sound, not much louder than a kitten's meow.
She can hardly hold on any longer.
The black cat found a pillowcase and placed it next to the kettle. The kettle fell over and the water inside flowed out, soaking the pillowcase.
Hold the pillowcase and cover the baby's face.
The black cat bit the back collar of the baby's clothes, kept its head as high as possible, and dragged her out of the crib.
He ran towards the stairs holding the thing in his mouth. The stairs were surrounded by flames, leaving only a half-meter passage.
But this is not the case in flames. The black cat's surface fur had been burned by the flames when it ran quickly before.
Now she is carrying a baby who is almost the same size as herself.
The flames seared the fur and the pads of flesh scorched the hot floor.
The black cat walked backwards down the stairs, carrying the baby in its mouth.
The first floor was a sea of fire. One had to turn corners and go around in circles to get around the flames that were ready to devour anyone.
Thick smoke continued to billow out.
Fortunately, the black cat and the baby are not really tall.
"Look, what is that!" While someone was pouring water to put out the fire, someone saw something moving inside the open door of the apartment.
"It looks like... a cat? It's holding a child, Oh my God!" The man exclaimed, his eyes wide open, covering his mouth as he looked at the scene in disbelief.
The woman who was still struggling to rush into the fire also saw this scene: a black cat with its head drooping due to burns and a missing ear walked out of the sea of fire with a baby in its mouth, with heat waves rolling behind it.
People who saw this scene couldn't help but hold their breath.
The black cat staggered a little, but stepped out of the door of the apartment building firmly.
Just at this moment.
“Crack… snap!”
The crackling sound of burning wood sounded above the black cat's head.
“Bang!”
This apartment building was probably an old one. It had only been renovated on the outside and still used old thick wooden door frames. When the fire broke out, the supports at both ends were burned to a crisp, and the wood on the top fell off.
What a coincidence, it fell on the black cat as it walked halfway out of the apartment building.
It hit people's hearts hard.
Blood foam flowed out from between its teeth. The black cat propped itself up and struggled hard, dragging its hind half out from under the thick wooden board that was burning with flames.
The baby was still held tightly in his mouth, breathing weakly.
The woman finally reacted and rushed forward. This time, no one stopped her.
She seemed to be crying and laughing, and with trembling hands she took the baby from the black cat's mouth.
Remove the wet pillow covering your baby's face.
"Doctor! Doctor!" the woman shouted hurriedly.
The doctor who was standing by had already arrived at the fire scene and ran over.
Do a quick body check on the baby.
"He's still alive, there's still hope!"
The baby was then taken to the ambulance.
The black cat half opened its eyes and glanced at the baby that was taken away.
Fortunately, I have fulfilled my mission.
Blood trickled out from the corner of his mouth and his eyelids gradually closed.
The woman finally smiled because the baby was temporarily safe, and then she remembered something.
He quickly grabbed the medical staff.
"Show it to the cat, show it to the cat!"
"It's not that I don't want to see it." The nurse looked at the black cat lying on the ground with embarrassment: "But... I'm not a veterinarian, I don't understand."
"There should be something in common, right?" the woman pleaded. "Just show it!"
"All right."
Two minutes later, the nurse checked and confirmed several times before finally speaking.
"Sorry, it's dead."
