Chapter 043: Shocking Change
With a "ding" sound.
The elevator door opened.
The receptionist who was sitting behind the service desk and watching short videos looked up without much concern, but did not see the cleaning staff as expected, but was met with a pair of sharp and cold blue eyes.
The phone fell on the table, and he stood up in a panic, stammering, "E-Your Highness Eliza."
"Why are you here?" He didn't say this.
Elisa Wolff Werner was known to hate being asked questions.
How could the evil spirit appear here in the daytime? No one reminded him... How unlucky! He would lose his job if he took over the job! He hated Tom so much that he asked for leave because he had diarrhea and asked him to take over the job. He thought of himself begging on the street after being fired.
Fortunately, Her Highness Eliza seemed to be in a good mood today and did not get angry as usual. Her indifferent blue eyes just glanced at him and then moved to another place, looking here and casually said, "I'm going to pick a few people."
"Okay, okay." Having escaped a disaster, the man breathed a sigh of relief, and his attitude became more attentive. He bowed and nodded as he led her along the fluorescent signs on the ground, "What type do you want to pick this time? Last time you picked a few elemental ones, do you still want this type this time? Or speed type? Strength type?" He did not ask about the whereabouts of the previous people. What was there to ask? There would only be one outcome.
The corridor was shining with silver light, reflecting the figures of two people. One was standing tall with a casual expression, while the other was nodding and bowing with an earnest look, his eyes fixed on the wall. A tiny smile appeared on "Eliza's" face, and the man's waist suddenly bent further, with an even more earnest smile.
The heels of her shoes made crisp steps on the tiles. "What's new?" After walking for a while, "Eliza" asked casually.
"A few days ago, a few new members of the Shadow Cult arrived." The man knew all about the superhumans in the cage. He was also very familiar with Eliza's hobbies and deliberately mentioned the types she would be interested in. "They are all young boys with good looks and figures. They are in the healing and control categories respectively. They are responsible for preaching in the Shadow Cult. Under the control of the collar, they are completely controllable."
The voice in his ear sneered. Ren Fengpan frowned.
The man in front of her noticed that she was dissatisfied with his random speculation, and immediately said, "However, with your taste, Your Highness, you may not like them. I will bring out some good people for you to choose from later."
Ren Fengpan hummed casually, then remembered his real purpose and asked, "Have you checked the intruder? I don't want to bring an intruder with a mission back. It's troublesome."
"It's a long story, and Eliza won't explain it to anyone," the voice in the ear said.
"Yes, yes, they are all clean, absolutely no invasion." The man didn't pay attention to these details, he was only focused on pleasing his boss, so he couldn't help but drag his colleagues out to step on them, "We are not as useless as the breeding area, even the 'gold seeds' can be invaded."
Seeing Ren Fengpan raised his eyebrows, he immediately explained the whole story: "This morning, 'Golden Seed' showed obvious and intense emotional reactions, which should never happen. So the doctors soon discovered that 'Golden Seed' was invaded. Now, the invader is being studied, and the data will be compared with the invader captured in Xizhou."
This kind of thing is considered public gossip among them, and there is nothing to hide. Moreover, what is there to hide in front of Her Highness Eliza?
"If you are interested, I think they will be happy to receive you." Seeing that she seemed to be interested in taking a look, the man said, "I will immediately notify them to prepare for reception."
He reached for his cell phone in his pocket, but found it empty. He then remembered that he had left his phone at the service desk, and hurriedly reached for the walkie-talkie at his waist, only to find that the same thing was missing.
It's over, it's over. He froze for a moment, cold sweat on his back, and he almost didn't dare to look up at Eliza's expression, knowing that any unnecessary excuses would only make Eliza even angrier. He lowered his head and waited for the trial to come.
"It seems that you are usually quite free." Ren Fengpan said calmly, and as expected, he heard the haunting voice in his ear: "Too gentle."
She frowned in annoyance.
…She didn't get angry. She just frowned, which was quite gentle. The man was like being pushed back to the human world from the abyss. He breathed a sigh of relief, but his mind was still blank. He didn't know how to respond, and the atmosphere was stagnant for a moment.
At this moment, the continuous dull sounds in front saved him.
"It was a routine riot." He hurriedly looked up and explained to the front, hoping that his long speech would make Eliza forget the recent incident.
"As you know, the collar technology has loopholes. For some special superhumans, the collar cannot completely suppress their abilities. They can always find loopholes to take off the collar. After taking off the collar, they cannot open the door and will cause damage in the room."
Ren Fengpan hummed coldly. Seeing that he was somewhat surprised by her attitude, she did not panic. She glanced over coldly and said in a cold voice: "Why don't you go over and tell them to be quiet? Do you want me to wait until they are quiet?"
He shook his head in panic, "I'll go right away." He pulled out the metal folding stick from his waist, swung it open, and walked quickly to the door.
The room where the superhumans are imprisoned is made entirely of special materials. The heavy door is also made of a special metal material. A small screen is embedded on the wall next to the door, which can be used to view the interior of the room and make partial controls.
He simply pressed the blue button at the bottom of the screen, and small words appeared in the upper right corner of the screen saying "Anesthesia has been discharged."
The screen showed gas emissions and human bodies falling down.
After a while, the noise inside quieted down, and the screen showed that everyone had fallen.
After confirming that no one was moving in the surveillance video, he pressed the red door-opening button.
The heavy metal door slowly opened.
The bright light from the corridor squeezed into the dark room through the crack in the door, and as the door opened, it gradually illuminated the iron cage inside the room from near to far, as well as an aisle in the center of the room.
All of them were wearing the same gray and white clothes, lying on the ground, seemingly asleep. Several people who had somehow escaped from the cage were lying in a mess very close to the door.
The air circulating in the house has a subtle but pungent odor, which seems to be a mixture of human excrement, secretions, and blood.
Does this mean they don't care about hygiene at all? Ren Fengpan felt angry.
The man who walked into the room with his back to her was completely unaware of her emotions. As soon as he entered the room, he immediately turned on the lights, letting the bright light illuminate every corner of the room.
The iron cage reflected a cold light, and the skinny bodies were either lying or sprawled on the ground, all with their eyes closed and unconscious.
No one was awake. The man breathed a sigh of relief, holding the iron rod in his hand and carefully turning it around, testing whether the people on the ground were really unconscious. After confirming that there was no abnormality, he let out his last breath.
He cast his eyes towards Eliza who walked into the room with a stern expression. He ran over quickly and said earnestly, "Your Highness, there is no danger here. I will put the few who escaped back into the cages and pick out the better ones for you to review, okay?"
Ren Fengpan scanned the environment here.
The dark, light-absorbing walls and floor seemed to swallow up all the light. The ceiling above bulged upwards, with light tubes installed, separated from the bottom by glass;
Four rows of iron cages were neatly arranged with the middle aisle as the axis. There was a strange coldness in the orderliness, and a wonderful luster in the gaps between the iron cages. It was obviously a special defense measure.
The number of people imprisoned in each iron cage ranged from one to five. Inside, there was a not-so-clean toilet, not-so-thick bedding, and thatched grass that was obviously windy. There was no faucet. It was a terrible environment.
Why do they treat them like this? Although she wanted to ask this question, she already knew the answer in her heart. How could a child who grew up in a mountain village not understand? How could a person whose hometown was destroyed because of a little inconvenience and difference not understand?
She turned her gaze to the man who was waiting for an answer. He smiled at her flatteringly, his demeanor just like the monk who raised his hand to destroy the village in order to get close to the great demon. He said, "Your Highness, if you feel uncomfortable with the environment here, you can go outside and wait for a while."
He didn't think there was anything wrong with this environment from beginning to end, nor did he think she would find anything wrong.
Her face suddenly turned cold.
"You mean I should wait for you?" Her cold voice echoed in the room, and the man's heart instantly sank into the cold lake water. "How many times have I waited for you today? Do you think I can take advantage of you just because I'm in a good mood?"
Her voice became louder and louder, and she raised her hand to slap him. There was a crisp sound of "slap!" "You want me to wait in such a stinky place? Do you know who I am? You want me to wait?!"
The man's head was buzzing from the slap, but he didn't dare to fight back, talk back, or block, and let her attack. Miss Eliza had such a bad temper that she would get angry at the slightest displeasure. It was beyond his expectation that she would get angry only today.
Seeing that he didn't dare to fight back, Ren Fengpan became even more furious. His attitude towards the unconscious man just now was not like this - he poked him hard with the metal stick and kicked him hard with his feet in hard boots.
Facing the obviously angry "Eliza", the man just lowered his head and let her hit him, begging for mercy. Ren Fengpan quickly calmed down and put down his hand. At this moment, there was a hissing sound of exhaust behind him, which was extremely loud and obvious in the silence. Both of them turned their heads.
Without them noticing, the door closed quietly.
The man was horrified and said, "You can't open the door from the inside. Someone closed it from the outside!" The person who could do this... He reacted immediately and looked around.
This sight made his body stiffen and he secretly said "bad thing".
At some point, both the people in the iron cage and the people in the aisle had quietly climbed up, and pairs of eyes embedded in their skinny, gray-black faces were staring straight at him, gloomy and bloody, with a desire to eat him alive, like wild beasts.
How is it possible... The anesthesia can take effect for at least an hour... Why are their neck collars all open... The man's hands hanging at his side trembled slightly. No one knew better than him how much these prisoners hated him.
He swallowed his saliva, stood in front of Ren Fengpan, and while protecting her and retreating to the door, he turned his head and spoke to her: "Your Highness, please ask for help."
