"Third Brother!"
Wen Li's voice trembled slightly, and her dark eyes were fixed on Wen Yu's back.
Wen Yu was on the phone, her brows furrowed.
Upon hearing Wen Li's voice, all emotions vanished when she turned around, and she whispered, "Go back and rest quickly."
Wen Li stepped forward and looked at the phone in Wen Yu's hand: "Is Third Brother going on a mission?"
Wen Yu hung up the phone at that moment.
Seeing Wen Li's serious expression, Wen Yu immediately understood what was going on. Since the mission wasn't exactly a secret, she nodded and said, "It's nothing serious. There have been landslides in some parts of the southwest, and a village near a tourist attraction is trapped. We've been ordered to get there within eight hours."
Wen Li took a deep breath.
In the distance, Gao Chong sat in the driver's seat, opened the car window, and lit a cigarette under the dim streetlights.
The cigarette glowed and dimmed with each breath. Wen Li glanced at it and realized that in a short time, everyone who had just eaten with her was covered in deathly aura, and the aura was getting stronger and stronger.
"Third Brother, everyone will be in danger on this journey." Wen Li hesitated for a moment: "It's a death sentence."
Wen Yu was stunned by the sudden remark.
Wen Li's words surprised him greatly, and judging from his younger sister's tone, it seemed that this calamity had just occurred.
It all stemmed from a sudden emergency call for help.
Wen Yu tried her best to remain calm and asked, "When you say 'everyone,' do you mean all of us?"
Wen Li lowered her head, her hands already rapidly casting a divination, but after several attempts, the hexagrams all indicated extremely bad luck.
Wen Li didn't answer, but instead asked, "How many people is Third Brother taking?"
Wen Yu said with a serious expression, "The people having dinner with us today are all squad leaders from the military. If nothing unexpected happens, they will each lead dozens of team members. The number given by the higher-ups is... three hundred people."
Wen Li's heart suddenly clenched.
The divination indicated that the number of people who sacrificed their lives was exactly three hundred.
Seeing that Wen Li remained silent, Wen Yu already understood.
In the brief silence, Wen Yu sighed softly: "Xiao Li, I am a soldier, and we must obey orders."
This is a rescue mission, and we cannot afford to delay it even for a moment.
“But I’ve never miscalculated. How could I watch you die in vain?” Wen Li took a deep breath. “Third Brother, give me two hours while I draw the talisman.”
"Alright." After all, these were the lives of three hundred soldiers; Wen Yu couldn't possibly treat their hopes of survival as a joke.
It's only two hours; if you squeeze in the time, you can still get to the scene within the allotted time.
"What do you need? I'll have someone prepare it for you."
Wen Li listed a whole bunch of things, many of which Wen Yu had never heard of before, so he simply asked Wen Li to send him a list and he would have someone prepare them.
Next, Wen Yu went to Gao Chong's side.
Gao Chong was still unaware of the situation when Wen Yu walked over with a grim expression and teased, "So reluctant to part with your sister?"
Wen Yu wasn't in the mood for banter with Gao Chong: "I just received a notification from above that landslides have suddenly occurred in many areas of the southwest, and villages have been flooded. We need to send 300 people to provide assistance."
Gao Chong immediately composed himself: "Then what are we waiting for? Let's hurry back to the base, pack up, and go rescue them!"
"etc."
"Wait for what..." Gao Chong's voice trailed off as he suddenly noticed that Wen Yu's expression was unusually grim. He subconsciously asked, "Is the rescue extremely difficult, or is the disaster particularly severe?"
Wen Yu shook her head: "I don't know the specifics yet."
"Then why are you looking like this? I've never seen you this worried when we were wiping out pirates before."
Wen Yu opened her mouth several times, then pointed to Wen Li behind her: "I forgot to introduce you before. My sister, Wen Li, is a member of the Celestial Masters Association and can tell fortunes."
"She just calculated that there is a very high chance that we will not be able to come back from this rescue mission."
...
For a moment, all the team members stared at Wen Yu in disbelief.
Seeing this, Wen Li quickly said, "But don't worry too much. Just give me two hours, and I'll make sure everyone is safe."
Gao Chong belatedly realized: "No, no, this..."
Why did it suddenly take on a fantasy element?
Is this modern society?
Wen Yu didn't give Gao Chong time to think, and said, "Xiao Li knows some metaphysical arts. I've already had people prepare what she needs, but time is of the essence. You should go back to the unit now and have everyone ready. I'll go back later."
Gao Chong and Wen Yu had been comrades-in-arms for several years, to the point that they could understand each other with just a glance.
Even though Gao Chong had many questions in his mind, he knew that the important thing was to act at this moment: "I will handle the military matters. Do we need to report today's events?"
"I will handle it."
Gao Chong said no more, knowing that time was of the essence, and drove away.
Wen Yu brought Wen Li to a nearby property. Not long after they arrived, someone brought the things Wen Li needed.
"Third Brother, I need to calm down and draw the talisman. You can go out first. Call me when it's in two hours."
Without much thought, Wen Yu solemnly said, "Thanks to you, little sister."
Wen Li: "Third Brother also said that I am your sister, and besides, I am a member of the Celestial Masters Association. How could I possibly abandon you?"
Even if it's a group of strangers, three hundred vibrant lives, and the future of hundreds of families at stake, she has to do everything in her power.
After Wen Yu left the room, Wen Li quickly set up the altar.
Having brought the portrait of the patriarch, Wen Li placed it in the center of the altar and silently prayed, "Patriarch, please bless me. These are the lives of three hundred soldiers. Please bless me to finish drawing the peace talisman within two hours."
