Chapter 164 Beating Up the Fierce Ghost

Wen Li scheduled Miao Miao's return to life for a weekend evening.

After finishing his class in the morning, Mu Shuxin invited Wen Li to have lunch at his house the next day.

"Miao Miao hasn't spoken a word lately, but her eyes can follow adults. If you hadn't said before that Miao Miao was out of her mind, her parents and I would probably be so worried we'd get blisters on our lips."

Wen Li's words are now like an imperial edict to his family.

If Wen Li said that everything was fine, then everything was fine. Although her family was worried, they weren't too anxious.

“Miao Miao’s soul is easy to deal with. It’s just that something happened before that I couldn’t recall Miao Miao’s soul, but now I can.”

She didn't tell Mokushiki that she couldn't perform any more rituals for the next few months.

But she recently calculated that Miao Miao's soul would dissipate if it didn't return to her body soon. She estimated that if she captured two more vengeful ghosts tonight, things would be much easier.

After school, Wen Li did not go straight home, but stayed in the dormitory.

As night fell and the sky turned from blue to black, Wen Li packed all the magical artifacts she had kept in her dormitory into her LV bag, while Tong Zhu watched from the side, her heart pounding.

"I'm not coming back tonight, that's my rule."

Wen Li handed the leave slip for going home to Tan Xiaoxiao, asking her to give it to the students who were checking the dorms.

Tan Xiaoxiao nodded, and seeing that Wen Li seemed to be going out to do something important tonight, she whispered, "Is it dangerous?"

Wen Li quickly shook her head.

Tan Xiaoxiao was relieved.

"Go early and come back early. I'll save you a spot on Monday."

Wen Li, her face full of gratitude, exaggeratedly clasped her hands in a fist and palm salute: "Thanks, my dear sister!"

Wen Li didn't go too far after leaving the school.

There are many shops near University A, but further out to the edge is a desolate area. Wen Li took a taxi to a steel factory, holding a compass in her hand.

The weather in October was already cold, and the driver, seeing Wen Li acting so strangely, couldn't help but ask, "Young lady, what are you doing here in this godforsaken place?"

Wen Li: "Catching ghosts."

The driver noticed the compass in Wen Li's hand. It was only a fleeting moment, but he had never seen one in all his years of life. How could a little girl have seen one?

"There are no ghosts in the world. This place is too desolate. If you encounter any problems or need to go back later, just give me a call." The driver handed Wen Li a business card from the front.

Wen Li tilted her head and looked at the headless ghost clinging to the driver's head, which had been there since she got in the car.

Wen Li said, "Is your car secondhand?"

"Hmm?" The driver didn't know why Wen Li would suddenly ask this, and said, "It's the company's assignment. I drive at night, and someone will relieve me when it gets light."

Wen Li: "This car was in an accident. A driver ran over someone's head and crushed it."

The driver's eyes widened instantly, his expression one of shock at Wen Li's confident demeanor.

Before he could speak, Wen Li spoke again: "That little devil is sitting in the car right now. Don't take the back roads tonight, or you'll end up like him, a headless ghost."

Wen Li's words were chilling.

Just then, Wen Li opened the car door, and a gust of cold wind rushed in. The driver felt a chill on his neck and broke out in a cold sweat on his back.

By the time he came to his senses, Wen Li had already disappeared.

If it weren't for the fifty yuan fare that arrived in his account, the driver would have almost thought that Wen Li had never appeared at all.

The driver was nearly scared to death. The wind rustled through the grass all around him, but to his ears it sounded like a ghost.

The driver immediately started the vehicle and, following Wen Li's advice, quickly returned the way he came.

After finally arriving in the bustling city, the driver's phone rang, startling him.

He never used to check these push notifications on his phone, but this time he inexplicably took out his phone.

A notification popped up on my phone: Twenty minutes ago, a road in the suburbs collapsed, and a driver who was walking on the road was thrown off a cliff. Luckily, there was another car behind him, and when he went down to rescue him, the driver's head was already severed.

driver:……

He sat in the car in a daze for a long time before finally saying slowly, "Well, we really did run into a master!"

On the other side, Wen Li crossed the overgrown grass in the steel plant and entered the interior of the steel plant.

The area was eerie. On the way, she saw several little ghosts who had recently died and hadn't been taken away by the underworld officials. Wen Li led the way for these little ghosts and asked them if there were any vengeful ghosts around.

Yes, yes!

The little ghost, who had just died, nodded hurriedly and said excitedly, "I didn't expect you could catch ghosts. I thought you only knew how to tell fortunes. There's a vengeful couple at the very back of the steel factory. They come out to harm ghosts at four in the morning. I almost got eaten by them yesterday."

The kid in front of me looked very young, but he was so thin that he was practically skin and bones, and he seemed to know Wen Li.

Wen Li glanced at him, and the little devil quickly said, "You're my fan... no, I'm your fan! I've seen your variety shows before and knew you could tell fortunes, but I never imagined my idol could catch ghosts!"

The little ghost became more and more agitated as he spoke: "I've only been dead for a few days, but no ghost messengers have come to take me to the underworld. My relatives buried my ashes nearby, so I was wandering around here. Who knew I would almost be eaten by a vengeful ghost!"

Wen Li listened to the little devil's endless chatter. If the little devil had a physical body, he might have even asked Wen Li to sign his clothes.

Wen Li paused for a moment, then took out a thin stick of incense from her LV bag, lit it, and handed it to the little ghost: "The underworld used to be in great chaos, but it has improved a lot in recent years. There are too many ghosts and too few underworld officials, so there will be some oversights. Follow the smoke of this incense. When the incense burns out, you will arrive at the underworld. Give the name Wen Li from Xundao Sect, and a ghost messenger will guide you."
