No one expected this to happen.
One moment they were chatting away, the next a crazy woman came at them with a gleaming kitchen knife.
Zhou Qingyue and Su Sui were so frightened that they couldn't move their legs.
As Su Sui watched the woman swing her sword at him, she couldn't help but think: "You damn leg, why don't you run away already?!"
Su Sui screamed inwardly, but her brain was already locked, so she could only close her eyes tightly.
However, the expected pain did not come. Instead, a rich floral fragrance lingered around her nose. She seemed to be hugged, and heard a clatter in her ear, as if something had fallen crisply to the ground.
"Don't be afraid, it's alright now," Wen Li's voice rang in my ears.
Su Sui opened her eyes. She was a little shorter than Wen Li. When she looked up, she saw Wen Li's fair face with almost no visible pores and her long, curled black eyelashes.
gurgle—
Now she was completely captivated by Wen Li's face, no longer feeling any fear.
Immediately afterwards, Su Sui saw Wen Li lower her head and look at her with a puzzled expression.
Su Sui blushed and chuckled twice, "Th-thank you."
If it weren't for Wen Li, I would be half-crippled if not dead today, and the consequences would be unimaginable.
Zhou Qingyue reacted quickly as well. The moment Wen Li knocked the knife to the ground, Zhou Qingyue immediately kicked it away.
Only after recognizing who the other person was did they belatedly realize that the crazy woman in front of them was Yang Shun's wife.
Last night, the lights were dim, and the crazy woman's hair covered most of her face, so they couldn't see each other's features clearly.
Now that it was broad daylight, the madwoman's long black hair reached her waist, and her face was covered in filth, but beneath the dirt, her skin looked remarkably young.
Now, however, the madwoman's cheeks were sunken, she was emaciated, and her eyes were filled with madness as she stared at the three of them.
She turned her gaze to Wen Li, suddenly grabbed Wen Li's shoulders, and said, "Go, go! Don't come to my house! Get out!"
Wen Li remained motionless, staring intently at the madwoman.
The madwoman was pounding on Wen Li, and a stench wafted from her.
Su Sui held Wen Li's hand tightly, looking like she was about to cry: "What should we do? Should we call the police?"
Zhou Qingyue also separated the two, and finally said, "I'm going to find Uncle Yang!"
“Come back,” Wen Li suddenly said.
After saying that, she reached out and grabbed the madwoman's wrist.
At that moment, the madwoman suddenly stopped all her attacks and stared blankly at Wen Li.
Wen Li turned to the two of them and said, "Go and fetch a bucket of water, I'll wipe her down."
Both of them were stunned.
Zhou Qingyue immediately realized what was happening, and after saying "Be careful," she immediately took Su Sui upstairs. A short while later, she brought down a red plastic bucket containing towels.
Wen Li grabbed the crazy woman's hand and warned, "Don't move, be good."
The madwoman stared blankly at Wen Li, but Wen Li's grip on her hand acted as if it were a pressure point for her speech, and she actually obediently stopped moving.
Wen Li used a towel to wipe the filth off the madwoman, revealing a face that was almost deathly pale and made up of skin and bones.
The madwoman was so thin that her eye sockets were sunken, making her eyes appear large and dark.
After finally getting a clear look at the woman's face, Su Sui exclaimed, "This woman is quite pretty, how come she's a madwoman?"
The crazy woman is now so thin she looks unrecognizable, but you can tell from her bones that if she gained a little weight, she would definitely be a beautiful girl.
Zhou Qingyue, however, had more to think about, and she couldn't help but ask, "Isn't she too young?"
Su Sui was taken aback.
Indeed, the crazy woman in front of him looked to be no more than thirty years old, while Yang Shun was already over forty. They didn't look like a good match at all.
Just then, Yang Shun had already taken his hoe and gone home.
When Yang Shun saw several people surrounding the madwoman, his heart skipped a beat. He quickly dropped his hoe and ran over.
Are you all alright?
Before the three could reply, Yang Shun suddenly slapped the crazy woman on the back several times: "Why did you run out again! What if you scared someone!"
After saying that, Yang Shun roughly dragged the crazy woman upstairs.
Zhou Qingyue and Su Sui wanted to speak up for the other, but Yang Shuncai said, "You don't know, she's mentally ill, sometimes she'll take a knife and try to attack people..."
As Yang Shun spoke, his gaze suddenly fell on a corner of the yard, where he saw a kitchen knife lying on the ground. His expression immediately changed: "Are you all alright?"
Su Sui quickly waved her hand and pointed at Wen Li: "Thanks to Wen Li for saving me, we are not injured. Uncle Yang, please don't treat her so roughly, she didn't mean to."
Yang Shun smiled bitterly: "I didn't want to either, but as you all saw, she would have gone crazy if I hadn't kept an eye on her. I originally wanted to arrange for you to stay at other villagers' homes, but there wasn't enough room in the other villagers' homes. I didn't expect her to suddenly come out and attack you with a knife. Luckily, you're all alright."
Su Sui felt somewhat guilty; if they hadn't come here, the crazy woman wouldn't have had to be locked up.
Perhaps Yang Shun knew what Su Sui was thinking, because he quickly said, "I'm the one who's sorry. My wife is mentally ill. Even if you hadn't come, she would have been locked up."
Yang Shun said no more and pulled the crazy woman upstairs.
Everyone heard a loud bang of a door slamming shut upstairs, and then Yang Shun quickly came downstairs.
He apologized again and said that evening he had killed one of his own free-range chickens and made chicken soup for everyone as an extra meal.
Since then, the three of them have never seen the madwoman again, only faintly hearing her screams coming from inside the locked door.
In July, the weather gradually gets warmer, but Baiyun Village is surrounded by deep mountains and forests, so the temperature inside is much lower than in the city, and it is still a bit chilly in the morning.
In the morning, the sky brightened with the pale light of dawn, dotted with a few stars in the purplish-yellow sky, while on the other side, the sun was about to rise.
The rooster crowed at that moment, and at the same time, the alarm clocks that the three of them had set also went off.
Wen Li turned off the alarm clock and lay in bed for almost a minute before getting up.
After washing up, Wen Li returned to her room to change her clothes and happened to run into Su Sui, who was carrying a washbasin.
Wen Li suddenly frowned and asked, "What's wrong?"
Su Sui looked up, and a strong ghostly aura rushed towards her.
Zhou Qingyue had also finished getting ready, and was surprised to see Su Sui's dark circles: "What happened to you?"
Su Sui shook her head: "I didn't sleep well last night. It's probably because of too much stress. I was paralyzed by a ghost."
