Wen Li had no idea what Xu Yurong was thinking.
She placed the collected imps into a jade gourd, a magical artifact she carried with her, and planned to deliver them to the Celestial Masters Association at the end of the month.
After a good night's sleep, Wen Li rushed out the door again under everyone's watchful eyes.
Today, Wen Li can finally go out and tell fortunes openly and legitimately!
The location was designated by the Celestial Masters Association; it was a small park in a dense forest with a considerable number of people.
After getting out of the car, Wen Li told the driver to come pick her up later. Then she took the things she had ordered last week from the trunk and walked into the park.
The weather has been cool lately, and it's the weekend, so the park is quite crowded. Some elderly people are leading their grandchildren, while others are jogging.
Wen Li arrived at a relatively secluded spot in the park based on her status, and sure enough, she found quite a few fortune tellers there.
The foot traffic wasn't as bad as I'd imagined.
Several elderly people were gathered around a man in his fifties or sixties, asking him to tell their fortunes.
Wen Li glanced at the fortune teller, who was thin and dressed in a long black robe with a small round hat on his head and black cloth shoes on his feet. He had a gray beard that he would carefully scratch whenever he was deep in thought, as if he could not tell the divination without touching his beard.
Before him stood a middle-aged woman in her fifties, her brow furrowed as she cautiously asked, "Master, I would like to inquire about my daughter's marriage prospects."
The petite fortune teller glanced at the middle-aged woman, then pretended to use the six lines of divination.
"The combination of Yin, Mao, and Chen (寅卯辰) indicates the presence of the Wood element in the East, suggesting a strong destiny between your daughter and her boyfriend!"
The middle-aged woman hesitated slightly: "Really?"
"I've been telling fortunes here for ten years, and everyone knows how accurate my predictions, Zhou Tianren, are. You can rest assured."
laugh--
As he was speaking, a burst of laughter suddenly came from the side.
Zhou Tianren frowned, took off the small sunglasses hanging on his nose, and looked at Wen Li, who kept laughing, with an unfriendly gaze.
"why are you laughing?"
Wen Li said, "I'm laughing at you for doing random fortune-telling when you don't know anything."
"What do you know?" Zhou Tianren didn't take it to heart at all, and snorted coldly: "How could a child like you understand metaphysics? Be careful not to leave any bad karma behind with your words!"
"Then tell me, what is this aunt's daughter's surname and given name?"
Zhou Tianren's face stiffened: "How would I know? Who can predict someone's last name and first name?"
"That's because you simply don't know how," Wen Li rolled her eyes.
It's all because of these fake Taoist priests that their profession has been ruined.
Zhou Tianren narrowed his eyes, his gaze unfriendly, but there were still many people around. If he were to argue with a young girl, he would inevitably ruin his reputation.
Zhou Tianren sneered: "You talk like you can tell fortunes. If you're so capable, why don't you tell her fortune yourself?"
"Fine, then."
Wen Li was just wondering how to attract customers when Zhou Tianren delivered himself to her doorstep.
The commotion attracted a lot of people, and Wen Li quickly took out all the items from the cart.
A simple folding table, a chair, and a custom-made online sign: Fortune telling, fortune telling, money back guarantee if it doesn't work!
Zhou Tianren's face darkened upon seeing this.
"Heh, you're so young and already out here scamming people. Don't think you can do it just because you glanced at something in a book. Do you even know how to do it?"
Wen Li wasn't angry: "Since that's the case, would you like to make a bet with me?"
Zhou Tianren could tell that the other person looked to be only seventeen or eighteen years old, and he was quite certain that Wen Li knew only a little bit of basic kung fu and was no match for him at all.
So he proudly raised his head and said, "Fine, if I'm wrong today, I'll never set up a stall again!"
Upon hearing this, the people around gasped in surprise.
Zhou Tianren has been fortune-telling for over ten years, and his business is booming every day. No young girl can compare to him.
Those watching the scene couldn't help but say, "Little girl, hurry home and do your homework. This isn't a place for you."
"Yeah, you're being way too ridiculous."
Wen Li ignored him, her gaze fixed on Zhou Tianren, and asked, "I'll give you one chance. Will you still change your mind about what you just said?"
Zhou Tianren snorted coldly: "The divination has been completed, what's the point of changing your mind? I won't change it!"
Wen Li smiled: "That's fine then."
As she spoke, Wen Li asked the older woman from earlier, "You just said you wanted to have your daughter's marriage predicted?"
The woman hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Since you nodded, you must be hesitant. You're probably not satisfied with what this master calculated, right?"
The woman's eyes lit up, but remembering that Master Zhou was still there, she didn't show it too obviously.
“Then I was right.” Wen Li said in a soft, sweet voice, and then asked the old lady to show her right hand.
Then, Wen Li raised her eyebrows: "Auntie, judging from your palm reading, your daughter is already married."
The woman's eyes lit up, and she quickly nodded: "How did you know!"
She did ask about her daughter's marriage prospects, but her daughter was already married.
Master Zhou was only half right, which is why she hesitated.
"Your daughter has been married for about two years and she thinks she is very happy, but you have many complaints about your son-in-law, right?"
The woman's eyes brightened: "Yes, yes, yes!"
Wen Li continued, “Your daughter and son-in-law come from very different social classes, but because they were college classmates and dated for several years before getting married, and your son-in-law has a stable job, although he is not as good as your family and your daughter, he is still considered ambitious in front of outsiders, and he is very obedient to your daughter.”
"Yes!" the woman said, but her brows were furrowed with worry. "But I don't know why, I didn't like my son-in-law at first sight. But my daughter is like she's under a spell, ignoring all the good men out there and insisting on marrying such a poor man. And after the marriage, she doesn't want the big villa I prepared for her; she insists on squeezing into a rented room with her son-in-law."
