"Why has the Prince of Beixiang summoned you in the middle of the night?" A dignified voice came from inside the room, and it was clear from the tone that the person inside was not in a good mood.
Chief Tian's face turned ashen, and he stammered as he spoke, "Reporting to Your Majesty again and again, it's all gone, all gone."
The person inside the room instantly flew into a rage, shouting, "What do you mean I'm gone? Eunuch Hua, drag this madman away and behead him!"
The guards dragged Chief Tian up from the ground. Chief Tian was startled and quickly broke free from the guards, kneeling on the ground and trembling as he said, "This humble servant deserves to die, this humble servant deserves to die, please forgive me, Your Majesty!"
"It was the Prince of Beixiang and his 400,000-strong army. The Prince of Beixiang led 200,000 troops to attack Guanshan City, but they were all wiped out. Even the 200,000 troops in Fengyue City are now reduced to a mere 70,000. All of this was a scheme by Crown Prince Jialan! Now the Prince of Beixiang and Deputy General Zhang have been captured by Jialan, and Fengyue City has... returned to Jialan's hands..."
Buzz! Chief Tian's words exploded in the mind of the Western Jin Emperor like a bomb. He felt dizzy and weak, and could barely support himself.
In the next room, a man suddenly opened his eyes. His eyes were brown, sharp and fierce like an eagle's. If you looked closely, you could see many faint red lines on his neck.
The Western Jin emperor, without even wearing his outer robe, staggered out of the room. Eunuch Hua rushed forward to support him, but the emperor shoved him away violently, causing him to crash into a stone pillar. His head was bleeding profusely, but he dared not utter a sound.
As the saying goes, serving a ruler is like serving a tiger; even the most capable ministers cannot escape this fate.
The Western Jin emperor walked step by step toward the chieftain of the field.
Upon seeing this, Chief Tian lowered his head as low as possible, but his body trembled uncontrollably, and beads of sweat dripped from his head.
The Western Jin emperor stared at Chief Tian on the ground with a sinister look in his eyes, kicked him to the ground, and roared angrily, "Didn't the Prince of Beixiang guarantee that everything would be foolproof? Wasn't he full of confidence? Didn't he say that the soldiers of Fengyue City and Guanshan City were poisoned? Fools! A bunch of fools! We didn't even capture the cities, and we lost 400,000 troops for nothing!"
"You good-for-nothing, you idiot! You still want to marry my princess? I'll kill you!"
After the Western Jin emperor finished speaking, he picked up the sword of a guard and was about to kill the chieftain of the field.
The chieftain was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground, crying and begging the emperor.
Squeak—
The sound of a door opening rang out, and the noise in the courtyard instantly ceased.
The man was dressed in a white robe that trailed on the ground. His face was thin yet resolute, with a handsome profile. Below his sharp, eagle-like eyes were thin lips with distinct angles. Every feature of his face exuded an innate nobility.
The Western Jin emperor's angry face disappeared, replaced by the look of a kind father.
"Zheng'er, you're awake?"
Murong Zheng pursed his thin lips, glanced at everyone with a cold look, turned around, and closed the door as if he had never been there.
The Western Jin emperor seemed to have gotten used to his appearance, and there was not a trace of dissatisfaction in his eyes.
Thinking of his illness, the Western Jin emperor put down his sword, sighed, and waved his hand, thus saving Chief Tian's life.
"Go and summon the Imperial Uncle, Colonel Wu, and Deputy General Mo to the main hall."
The Western Jin emperor said to the guard beside him, and the guard left after receiving the order. The emperor glanced at the chieftain Tian on the ground and said, "You go and wait in the main hall."
"Thank you for sparing my life, Your Majesty. I will go immediately."
After kneeling in gratitude, Chief Tian hurriedly fled the place.
In the main hall.
After listening to Chief Tian's description, a solemn atmosphere filled the hall.
"We took Wangfeng City and Fengyue City so easily, and we didn't see any experts from Jialan guarding them. Why did we encounter such a change when we arrived at Guanshan City?" Captain Wu said solemnly.
"Could it be a foreign player?"
Deputy General Mo's words jolted everyone present awake. The Western Jin Emperor narrowed his eyes slightly, like a thoughtful, rigid puppet, but his gaze was like a deep and sharp blade, making people afraid to look directly at him.
“What Vice General Mo said makes perfect sense.”
"Regardless of any external aid they may have, the fact that Chief Tian returned alive tells us that Jialan's next step is to send troops against us. Now our challenge is how to deal with Jialan's forces."
Murong Jun, who had been silent until now and was the uncle of the Western Jin emperor, finally spoke.
The Western Jin emperor narrowed his eyes. Since there were so many experts, how could this mere leader possibly shake off the pursuers behind him? There was only one reason: Jialan deliberately let him leave to tip him off.
Jialan's goal was clear: they wanted to launch a direct attack on the Western Jin Dynasty and retake Wangfeng City.
Upon hearing this, Chief Tian was startled, and then he recalled the scene when he fled. His personal guards had all been captured, but he had managed to escape by chance. However, there were always pursuers behind him, but later, for some reason, they stopped chasing him. He thought it was because he was approaching Wangfeng City, which was why they stopped chasing him.
"Chief Tian, approximately how many troops do they have?" the Western Jin emperor asked.
Chief Tian recalled for a moment, "Less than two hundred thousand, but among them were more than a dozen powerful individuals, including Spirit Generals, Spirit Kings, and two whose strength was unclear. One of the girls seemed to be a Spirit Venerable. When the King of Beixiang tried to escape, it was that mysterious girl who struck him with a single palm, shattering all his bones..."
Chief Tian felt his scalp tingle and his heart pound with fear whenever he recalled that scene.
"Your Majesty, although we have 300,000 elite troops, Garan has both external support and assassins. We don't even know how many assassins there are. Those assassins fight to the death, which is a real headache."
