"She will be fully recovered in another month or two."
When Shu Mowan mentioned her grandmother, a smile spread across her eyes. "You can come and tell her that you and your team were the ones who took care of her during her illness. You were her greatest contributor."
"Little Wanwan, it's a deal then."
Xiao Jiyu laughed along, "When the time comes, I'll bring a lot of people to celebrate her new life."
If someone with Alzheimer's disease can recover, it's like being reborn.
Shu Mowan had no objection.
The two chatted for a few more minutes before hanging up.
She was driving home when she received a call from Mr. Yang.
"Little Mo Wan, the verdict is in. Shouldn't we start planning to become godparents?"
Old Yang smiled.
The date for the formal recognition of godparents had been postponed again and again, and Shu Mowan herself was a little embarrassed. She coughed lightly and said, "Uncle Yang, it's fine now. You can arrange the date."
"How about we set it for the day after tomorrow?"
Old Yang was clearly prepared. "The banquet venue is all set up, just waiting for you to come."
He took her seriously as his goddaughter, so he carefully selected the venue and the people to invite.
"OK."
Shu Mowan readily agreed.
Old Yang was overjoyed.
"Little Mo Wan, could you call me godfather beforehand?"
He proposed it.
"Godfather."
Shu Mowan didn't hesitate.
"Hey~"
Old Yang's response was drawn out, and anyone could hear the joy in his voice: "I'm finally a man with a daughter."
He had lived most of his life and had only had a few sons with his wife. He was desperately hoping for a daughter, but unexpectedly, as he got older, God sent him such an outstanding one.
He's a miracle doctor, a great painter, and has all sorts of other talents; he's made a fortune.
Shu Mowan curved her lips into a slight smile.
Her godfather is quite interesting.
"Daughter, I'm going to send out invitations to the guests now."
Old Yang laughed and said, "The day after tomorrow, I will let everyone know what a wonderful daughter I have."
"good."
Shu Mowan responded.
After hanging up the phone, she rested her chin on one hand and drove with the other.
Not long after I got on the highway, I saw a thin girl standing by the guardrail, with the Lancang River flowing into the sea right below her.
Upon seeing this, Shu Mowan instinctively felt that she might be contemplating suicide. Her eyes hardened, and she quickly stopped the car.
Before she could open the door and get out of the car, she saw the girl climbing up the railing with both hands.
"Little sister, wait, don't do anything foolish."
Shu Mowan immediately got out of the car and ran over, shouting, "If you have any grievances, you can tell me, and maybe I can help you."
The grieving Xu Xiaoyan turned her head and recognized Shu Mowan running over. She was shocked and her eyes widened. At the same time, the guilt she felt for cooperating with Xu Yi at the banquet that day welled up in her heart.
She felt ashamed to face Shu Mowan.
"sorry."
After giving Shu Mowan a hesitant apology, she anxiously tried to climb over the railing and jump.
Shu Mowan clearly recognized the girl, and seeing that she was even more eager to jump into the river after seeing her, she couldn't help but laugh in exasperation.
Forget it, let's save them first.
Shu Mowan quickened her pace and, just as Xu Xiaoyan climbed onto the railing and was about to jump, she caught her from behind and pulled her back down.
"Miss Shu, I'm sorry, and thank you for saving me, but I still want to die. Please let me go and let me die."
After being rescued, Xu Xiaoyan didn't dare to look Shu Mowan in the eye. She only apologized and thanked her humbly before wanting to die.
Shu Mowan flicked her forehead with her finger and said, "Be good, be quiet! No one can let the people I saved die again, not even yourself."
Xu Xiaoyan was stunned by her domineering aura and looked up at her with a mixture of surprise and admiration.
Shu Mowan was amused by the look in her eyes.
"Little sister, my car can't be parked on the highway for long. Can you come back to my car with me first and we can talk then?"
She said.
Xu Xiaoyan glanced at the car not far away, then at the river behind her. In the end, not wanting to cause trouble for Shu Mowan prevailed, and she nodded in agreement.
From this, Shu Mowan could tell that she was a kind-hearted person.
The two got into the car, and Shu Mowan opened a bottle of drink for her, telling her to drink something sweet to calm down.
Xu Xiaoyan held the beverage bottle, her eyes instantly reddening. She hurriedly lowered her eyes, afraid that Shu Mowan would see her crying.
Shu Mowan glanced at her and started the car.
She waited for Xu Xiaoyan to calm down before asking her what had happened.
After a moment, Shu Mowan spoke up: "Little sister, can you tell me what happened to you?"
“Go ahead and say it; there’s very little that can stump me.”
Before Xu Xiaoyan could speak, she confidently added.
Perhaps infected by her confidence, Xu Xiaoyan gripped the bottle and slowly said, "My mother is seriously ill. The doctor said she has at most a month left. I am also sick, the kind that can't be cured. I can't find a reason to live, so I thought of jumping down and waiting for her down there."
Once they and their daughter are dead, the Xu family will probably make proper arrangements for their funerals out of consideration for their distant kinship.
Shu Mowan somewhat understood why Xu Xiaoyan, feeling helpless and alone, wanted to take extreme measures.
Because without someone to lend a hand, it's really hard to get out of this predicament.
Is your mother still in the hospital?
Shu Mowan asked.
"It's still there."
Xu Xiaoyan nodded, "Sister Xu Yi paid the extended fees, so the hospital can do its best to keep my mother alive."
Perhaps fearing that mentioning Xu Yi would offend Shu Mowan, she carefully said a few good words for Xu Yi, "Miss Shu, Sister Xu Yi may seem willful and has a sharp tongue, but she can be quite nice at times."
