Julia suppressed the hostility on her face and said in a cold, hard tone, "It's nothing."
She looked up at the stage, her expression focused.
Tonight's show is the only way she can let John know that she is far superior to Shu Mowan in terms of talent and is worthy of him.
Seeing her like this, the designer next to her stopped saying anything.
As the fashion show began, the attendees, all wealthy and influential, initially seemed rather uninterested. However, they gradually became more engaged and began commenting on the clothes worn by the models.
When it was Julia's turn to present her show, she couldn't help but feel nervous. She called her assistant and asked her to send someone unfamiliar to ask the dignitaries what they thought of her designs.
The assistant did as she was told, and only returned after the models she led had finished walking around and gone down to change clothes.
"How about it?"
Julia asked.
The assistant pursed her lips and carefully chose her words, "Julia, everyone says that your designs are still as unconventional as ever."
That's it?
Julia frowned in anger.
The assistant was startled; she hadn't expected Julia to be so temperamental at this show.
In the past, wouldn't she have liked such comments?
She also said that only by being unconventional could she catch the eye of Western elites, please them, and then generously promote her to become a popular designer.
No, that's all.
The assistant cautiously shook his head.
Julia was still not satisfied. "Didn't you even have someone ask me if my designs this year are good-looking?"
The assistant kept his head down.
She wouldn't dare say that Julia's designs all follow a unique approach, lacking any aesthetic appeal.
Julia was furious at her downcast and silent demeanor. She wanted to raise her hand to slap her, but with powerful and influential people watching, she had no choice but to swallow her anger.
John returned from arranging a celebration banquet and saw Julia making things difficult for her assistant. He walked over and said bluntly, "Julia, you know your designs are ugly, so why are you making things difficult for your assistant?"
These words were clearly a knife to Julia's heart.
She took a deep breath and forced a smile, "John Lu, I'm a big designer, I'm not that ugly, am I?"
"Your reputation as a great designer was built up by the powerful and wealthy in high society. You know that perfectly well, so why are you asking me such a stupid question?"
John Lu spoke bluntly, and with a hint of curiosity, asked, "Your designs over the years have all been incredibly ugly, why are you concerned about this one?"
Julia had been riddled with bullets by his bluntness, her face turning pale and then red, looking quite unsightly.
"John, do you have to make me so angry?"
She took a deep breath, trying to calm me down, but she couldn't, and her tone carried a hint of anger.
John frowned. "How did I upset you? I was just telling the truth."
"..."
Julia was so angry that her head was spinning. She didn't want to argue with John directly, so she said, "Okay, you're telling the truth, but I don't want to hear it now. Can you be quiet for a bit?"
John was a little angry and snorted, "What kind of attitude is that?"
"It's my fault, I apologize. Let's just watch the show quietly and talk about it after it's over, okay?"
Julia took a step back and said.
John Lu snorted again and crossed his arms to move away from her.
He didn't even bother talking to her.
Julia's brow twitched violently at the sight.
It's all that damned Shu Mowan's fault. If she hadn't come to the exhibition, she wouldn't have argued with John Lu.
This woman is her nemesis.
When Shu Mowan and her models appeared, the lights suddenly went out, and the clothes on the models emitted a dazzling array of colors, which, combined with the pictures that incorporated elements of traditional Chinese culture, made the scene exceptionally beautiful.
Phoenixes spread their wings and soar, mandarin ducks sleep neck to neck, peonies bloom in full glory...
Each design is full of originality, making it hard to look away.
A true visual feast.
"As expected of Wan Yu's personal design, she always manages to surprise people."
One designer even offered his praise.
John's eyes were filled with admiration and fascination. "Who can argue with that? She really is a mysterious girl who makes you want to explore her."
If before she was simply captivated by Shu Mowan's appearance, now she is attracted by her talent.
Only a girl as capable as her is worthy of the John family's status.
When he takes her home, his family will definitely give him their full approval.
"I can't wait to take her home."
He said sincerely.
When Julia heard his agitated words, her face contorted with anger, anxiety, and ferocity.
“John, you can’t take her home.”
She had a loud voice.
The crowd, engrossed in the fashion show, all turned their attention to Julia.
Julia seemed to wake from a dream, her face turning pale, red, and then flushed.
If there were a hole in the ground, she would definitely crawl into it without hesitation.
“John Lu, what I mean is…”
"I don't care what you mean, I'm taking Wanyu home, what's it to you?"
John, his temper flaring, interrupted her irritably.
Julia felt even more embarrassed and awkward, so she blurted out, "John, I always try my best to get close to you. Can't you really tell that I like you?"
If she didn't like him, would she, with her current status, have the audacity to hang around him like this?
It's not like she's without powerful and influential suitors.
John looked disgusted and said bluntly, "How can you like me when you're so ugly?"
He only reluctantly accepted Julia's presence in front of him because he considered her a colleague.
Julia completely broke down: "How am I ugly?"
