"Oh dear! This young lady is quite ruthless. She attacks without warning, and I almost couldn't handle her," the man in the straw hat teased.
"Who are you?"
“I have two names. Before I became a monk, I was called Fan’an. After I became a monk, I named myself Wuxie. To be honest, I am very satisfied with this name.”
Wu Xie said narcissistically, "So, young lady, you may simply call this humble monk Wu Xie."
"I have calculated that you are my destined one, so I need you to come with me."
"You can't take me away." Ruan Xiyan's eyes were icy cold.
"Whether you take it or not, we have to try. I like challenges. Although I don't like such crude solutions, which are unrefined, since you refuse, I have no choice but to resort to force."
"You garrulous, stinky monk, you talk too much!" Ruan Xiyan attacked directly.
Wu Xie went up to her, still muttering to himself, "Miss, I am indeed a monk, but I don't smell bad."
The two were evenly matched, and after exchanging blows, neither could gain the upper hand.
The gauze on the black conical hat fluttered about, which was really an eyesore.
Ruan Xiyan flung it away, revealing a handsome face that was difficult to tell whether one was male or female.
The monk had a vermilion mark between his eyebrows and slightly red eyes. From beginning to end, he didn't look like a proper monk at all, but rather like a wicked and demonic monk.
Footsteps sounded outside. Wu Xie looked at Ruan Xiyan and said regretfully, "It seems we can't take you away today, Miss."
"But there's plenty of time in the future, and we'll meet again someday. This humble monk looks forward to the day we meet again, young lady."
As soon as Wu Xie finished speaking, he released a puff of smoke and disappeared completely.
"He really is a complete sorcerer monk," Ruan Xiyan murmured.
A group of guards then entered. The head guard bowed to Ruan Xiyan and said, "Miss Ruan, we are under the command of Prince Xuan."
"The prince noticed that Miss Ruan hadn't come out and was worried that something had happened to her, so he sent us to check on her."
"Where is your prince?"
"The prince is currently confronting the emperor in the forbidden area," the guard replied.
“Let’s go take a look.” Ruan Xiyan stepped out of the prison tower.
Because it was night, the streets of the capital were quiet, and the people were comfortably sleeping in their homes.
Unaware that the palace had already undergone a dramatic change, and a bloody struggle was taking place, with the bloodshed permeating every corner of the palace.
Two people walked on the quiet streets of the capital. They were Ling Haoyang and Ling Zhiheng, who had been transported through the Star Gate Book.
"Big brother, when will your Star Gate Book be more reliable? It keeps sending me to desolate wildernesses." Ling Zhiheng said helplessly.
"You should be content. You should be glad that this time it's in the wilderness not far from the capital."
"We've arrived at the capital. Brother, where should we go to find Mother and Sister?"
Ling Haoyang pondered for a moment, "Although this capital city isn't too big, it's not small either. We don't know how long it would take the two of us to find it."
"As princes of the Yunli Empire, now that we have come to the Yunjin Kingdom, we should inform the royal family."
“That’s right.” Ling Zhiheng clapped his hands. “Maybe we can use the royal family’s power to search.”
Ling Haoyang glanced at the sky. "It's almost dawn. Let's go to the palace and investigate the situation first."
At the palace gate, Ling Zhiheng looked at the guards and asked in confusion, "Why is the palace guard so lax?"
Ling Haoyang frowned. "Something's not right, second brother, be careful."
The two exchanged a glance, found a secluded corner, and climbed over the wall to enter.
As they ventured deeper into the palace, the stench of blood grew stronger.
Looking at the guard lying in a pool of blood, Ling Haoyang's expression turned solemn. "It seems we've come at the wrong time. There's probably going to be a major upheaval in the palace."
"Brother, are you saying... the royal family of Yunjin Kingdom is going to change hands? Should we continue on our way?"
Ling Haoyang looked ahead and said, "Let's go."
He didn't know why, but he just felt he should go and see.
Otherwise, you'll miss out on something very important.
Forbidden area of the imperial palace.
He Mingxuan and Xiao Fengchuan stood facing each other.
"Your legs are actually healed, He Mingxuan, you've been hiding this well!" Xiao Fengchuan exclaimed in surprise.
It was already incredible that He Mingxuan survived that poison back then, but now the poison has actually been neutralized.
He glanced at the guards behind He Mingxuan and said, "He Mingxuan, you've brought so many people here. You've got some nerve. Do you intend to rebel?"
"You increase taxes for your own selfish gain, causing hardship and waste of resources. You are heartless towards the people, full of suspicion towards your own brothers, and even resort to poisoning to murder them. This is unjust. What good is it to rebel against such an unjust and heartless ruler!"
He Mingxuan pointed his sword at Xiao Fengchuan.
"Good, very good! I shouldn't have spared you back then, lest I raise a tiger to cause trouble. But it's not too late to kill you now!" Xiao Fengchuan waved his hand, and the two sides clashed.
Xiao Fengchuan gave He Mingxuan a meaningful smile, "He Mingxuan, you will regret your decision today."
Then he shouted towards the forbidden area, "I hope the Ancestor will come out of seclusion and capture the rebels for me."
"Useless thing, you only cause me trouble." A hoarse voice came from the forbidden area.
Xiao Shan walked out from inside with his hands behind his back; anyone who didn't know better would think he was a hermit with an air of otherworldly wisdom.
The power emanating from him surged towards the guards in layers.
The guards were all thrown back by the shockwave, coughing up blood.
He Mingxuan tried to defend himself, but he was still injured by the shock, and blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
Upon seeing the old man appear, He Mingxuan's pupils contracted. "You are... Ancestor Xiao! You're still alive!"
