Chapter 31 Nightmare

Li Ruo got up and sat down next to Wen Huaiyan.

Her soft, warm body pressed gently against mine, and her fragrance slowly diffused to one side.

Li Ruo ate in small bites, her eyes occasionally glancing up with a deep sense of surprise.

"Mr. Wen, I really like this restaurant."

“I used to live in the countryside and had never eaten these before.”

"But we also have many local specialties. If you would do me the honor, I can treat you to them."

The two have been together for a while now, and Wen Huaiyan's attitude has changed.

Li Ruo was much more relaxed than before.

As she spoke, strands of her hair would occasionally brush against Wen Huaiyan's arm.

Wen Huaiyan's arms were itchy, and so was her heart.

At that moment, he felt that there were things more important than eating to do.

But... after thinking for a moment, Wen Huaiyan did not get up, but quietly waited for her to finish eating.

"Hurry up."

"Um?"

Li Ruo blinked, and the moment she turned her head, she met a pair of eyes that gleamed with a wild beast's light.

...

When a huge problem struck the company, Wen Huaiyan resolved it perfectly in just one night.

As a result, Li Ruo has become a star in the company and has been living a very comfortable life these past few days.

Of course, that's just how God is.

They always like to add a little something extra when your life is going smoothly.

That day after get off work, Li Ruo had some rare free time.

She remembered that Wen Huaiyan had recently mentioned having some insomnia. Coincidentally, her maternal grandfather was a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, and she had been exposed to this since childhood, so she was quite knowledgeable about it as well.

Therefore, Li Ruo thought of preparing some suitable meals for Wen Huaiyan and using food therapy.

Clutching the list, she pushed the supermarket cart with one hand as she turned a corner, when she accidentally collided with another vehicle.

"I'm sorry..."

Li Ruo subconsciously apologized, but then she caught sight of a familiar figure.

She paused for a moment, and her face visibly darkened.

"Li Ruo?"

The other person's eyes widened, a surprised smile playing on their lips.

"I've run into you here too!"

The woman in front of me is named Chen Sisi, and she is Li Ruo's best friend from high school.

When Li Ruo first came to the big city to study from a small town, she was clearly not quite compatible with the bustling world around her. Chen Sisi came from a similar background to her, and the two naturally became best friends.

Chen Sisi liked to gossip behind people's backs. Li Ruo had tried to persuade her before, but after realizing that it was useless, she would just listen quietly each time.

No one knows who leaked it, but what Chen Sisi said was known to others. She stood up to protect her friend, but unexpectedly, Chen Sisi betrayed her and shifted all the blame onto her.

Li Ruo can't forget.

That day, she was cornered in the bathroom, facing a row of tough girls in school uniforms, each holding a weapon. They kicked her to the floor.

Amidst the questioning and the relentless beating, Chen Sisi stood at the doorway, smiling at her.

It turns out that she was just a tool for Chen Sisi to integrate into the school.

Later, Li Ruo became taciturn and developed a weak and easily deceived nature. This is why, at that time, Wen Changfeng and Li Rao used a little trick and only acted a little, and she was able to take the bait immediately.

Li Ruo felt there was nothing to say about this kind of person.

Chen Sisi, however, seemed to have forgotten all those past events.

Chen Sisi quickly stepped forward and took Li Ruo's arm.

She spoke with a smile.

"Ruoruo, it's been so many years. I heard you've been doing well lately."

Li Ruo pursed her lips slightly and remained silent.

Li Ruo unconsciously pulled her arm away.

"What are you doing? Aren't we best sisters?"

As she spoke, Chen Sisi enthusiastically took out her phone.

"You transferred schools when we were in our senior year of high school, and we didn't exchange contact information. There's a class reunion coming up soon, why don't you come along?"

Li Ruo looked at Chen Sisi's face and said expressionlessly.

"No, I'm shy."

Five words: cold and distant. Anyone with eyes should be able to hear it.

Chen Sisi seemed not to understand, "We're all classmates, we were in the same class back then, there are no strangers here. Besides, A-Hang will be here this time too."

Ah Hang.

This name is something that has been around for a very long time for Li Ruo.

Seeing Li Ruo pause, a hint of mockery flashed in Chen Sisi's eyes.

She began, "You want to see Ahang too, right? Hey Ruoruo, have you had any boyfriends all these years? Or have you been unable to forget Ahang ever since you broke up with him?"

Li Ruo let out a long breath.

She thought she was calm enough now, but when those past events really came back to her, Li Ruo realized she was wrong.

After a slight smile, Li Ruo spoke.

"I'm in a relationship."

"That's perfect, bring your boyfriend over then."

Li Ruo originally wanted to refuse.

But when she saw Chen Sisi's meaningful gaze again.

She suddenly realized that some regrets could be resolved later.

For example, those things that happened back then.

Those things left a lifelong shadow on her, things she would remember every time she woke up in the middle of the night.

Li Ruo moved her lips.

"OK."

"Oh, I was worried that you wouldn't want to come because of a little misunderstanding from back then. That's great, let's add each other as friends."
