Chapter 467 Returning the Property to its Rightful Owner

As she walked out of the hospital, she noticed that it had started to drizzle.

Looking at the drizzling rain, Li Ruo recalled what Wen Huaiyan had just said about his marriage to Fu Zhiqing, and felt as if a heavy stone was pressing on her heart.

"Wen Huai inkstone..."

She murmured the name, finally couldn't help but sigh, started the car, and drove around the streets.

I don't know if it's because of the rain, but there were very few people and cars on the street.

Li Ruo drove aimlessly like that, not knowing how much time had passed.

When she came to her senses, she realized that the surroundings were very familiar, and it seemed to be the main road leading to the orphanage.

After driving a little further, she indeed saw the five large characters "Happiness Welfare Home".

At the entrance of the welfare home, a familiar figure was repairing a window with a hammer and wood.

"Zhang Jiadong?"

Seeing the man's serious expression, Li Ruo raised an eyebrow and subconsciously stopped the car.

At this moment, Zhang Jiadong was particularly focused. When he looked up and saw Li Ruo, he didn't say hello but instead lowered his head and continued to do his own thing.

Seeing this, Li Ruo did not dare to disturb her.

As the rain intensified, Zhang Jiadong finally finished his work.

He took a deep breath before speaking, "It's raining quite heavily now, come inside with me to take shelter from the rain."

Perhaps because he was in a place he knew best, Zhang Jiadong's tone was unusually gentle, a stark contrast to his previous coldness.

Upon hearing this, Li Ruo nodded and went inside with him.

Upon entering this place, those long-forgotten memories resurfaced.

Looking at the small courtyard in front of her, Li Ruo was stunned. She and Wen Huaiyan had done handicrafts here when they were investigating Zhang Jiadong.

She was in charge of doing it, and Wen Huaiyan helped her, while the children gathered around them to watch.

Those were rare moments of harmony between the two of them...

Li Ruo walked through each familiar place with her umbrella, finally stopping at the photo wall.

In the central photo, Wen Huaiyan and she are surrounded by a group of children.

The man's expression was gentle, and his eyes, glancing over casually out of the corner of his eye, were full of affection.

Upon seeing this, Li Ruo stiffened, hesitated for a moment, and then couldn't help but reach out and gently touch the photo.

Seeing her silent demeanor, Zhang Jiadong asked in a low voice, "Is something on your mind?"

Hearing his question, Li Ruo pursed her lips, and after a long while, shook her head: "It's nothing, just a little sentimental. Everything has changed so much."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Jiadong showed a thoughtful expression.

Just then, the dean walked out of his office.

The moment he saw Li Ruo, he couldn't help but widen his eyes: "Ms. Li..."

Hearing his excited voice, Li Ruo smiled and said, "It's me."

"How have you been lately? I haven't seen you in so long."

The dean approached Li Ruo with a smile and began to speak.

"Everything is the same as before. I think our welfare home seems to be much better than before."

The director smiled and nodded: "It's alright, much better than before. This is all thanks to Mr. Wen's monthly allowance of 100,000 yuan. If it weren't for him, our orphanage wouldn't be as good as it is now."

Upon hearing this, Li Ruo was stunned. She hadn't expected that Wen Huaiyan would give money to the orphanage every month.

"Oh, right."

In the silence, the dean seemed to remember something and rubbed his hands together: "When will Mr. Wen arrive? I don't mean anything by it, I just want to thank you in person."

When Wen Huaiyan was mentioned again, Li Ruo's expression suddenly turned sour.

She took a deep breath, paused for a moment, and then said, "He's very busy right now, so he probably won't be coming again."

The dean was taken aback, and a hint of disappointment flashed across his face: "Yes, young people are busy with work, I understand. It's okay, you can come back to visit more often when you have time. Last time, Duoduo asked me when Sister Li and Brother Wen were coming."

"Is that so?"

Li Ruo was somewhat surprised: "Does Duoduo still remember us?"

"That's for sure, she asked the most questions."

The dean smiled slightly: "And the things you made before, the children really liked them. They usually don't want to take them out to play with. They wouldn't even let me see the things you made."

As he spoke, he gave Li Ruo a suggestive look: "Hey, speaking of this, Ms. Li, please don't blame me for being a chatterbox, but does Mr. Wen like you? I noticed that he kept looking at you every time you were doing crafts, so I wanted to ask him."

Unexpectedly, he suddenly brought up this topic, and Li Ruo froze, a bitter look on her face: "How could that be?"

"Oh, right, Mr. Wen left something here last time. He said he didn't know when he would give it away, so he left it here for now and will give it to you when you come back."

Seemingly sensing that something was wrong with her, the dean remained silent for a moment before suddenly speaking, "You said he was busy with work, and since you're here today, I'll return the items to their rightful owner."

As he spoke, he quickly went into the office and took out a small box.
