Chapter 121 Adds a Family Heirloom

Yun Jin followed Sister-in-law He's gaze and saw Mother He looking over with displeasure.

Yun Jin sneered inwardly; this sister-in-law was truly a smiling tiger.

Yun Jin wasn't naive either. She went straight for the jugular: "Mom, it's just in time for you to come. My sister-in-law said you're biased towards me and gave me your treasured bracelet. I can't take the blame for nothing. Mom, do you really have such a bracelet?"

She showed off the glass-type jadeite bracelet with floating green hues on her wrist, as if afraid that her mother-in-law wouldn't see it.

"It looks a lot like mine. Was it a gift from Old Man Chen to you?" Mother He immediately recognized its origin.

Yun Jin nodded: "Mom is right. My sister-in-law didn't believe it and said it was for me."

Having lived for decades, Mother He knew exactly what her eldest daughter-in-law was thinking. If He Zizhen resembled anyone, it was none other than this petty-minded eldest daughter-in-law. She didn't even bother to say anything about her.

If it weren't for her eldest son insisting on marrying her, Mrs. He would never have thought much of her sister-in-law. Now it seems she really didn't.

Mrs. He said, "I keep mine in the house. Since you like it, I'll give it to you. You can wear it interchangeably!"

Sister-in-law He was dumbfounded: "Mom, she already has one."

"So what? It's not like I gave it to her." Mother He deliberately provoked her daughter-in-law, and took out her own jadeite bracelet with floating flowers from the room. It looked similar to the one on Yun Jin's wrist, but Mother He's bracelet actually had better clarity.

Mother He gave the bracelet to Yun Jin: "Keep it safe and keep it as a family heirloom."

"Thank you, Mom!" Yun Jin accepted the gift with a smile.

Sister-in-law He broke down in tears: "Mom, you're giving this jade bracelet to her as a family heirloom, what about me?"

Fearing that Mrs. He was being petty, she deliberately used moral blackmail: "They are all daughters-in-law, you can't favor one over the other."

"It's not like you're convinced that the bracelet on your sister-in-law's wrist is mine. I'm just doing what you wanted. Anyway, I only have one, so once I gave it to your sister-in-law, it's hers." Mother He was good at shifting the blame.

"..." Sister-in-law He never expected that one day she would end up shooting herself in the foot.

Ignoring Sister-in-law He's unpleasant expression, Mother He said, "Alright, it's getting late, go back to sleep. Tomorrow is your birthday celebration. If anyone causes any trouble, don't blame me for being impolite."

Yun Jin nodded obediently: "Mom, go to sleep early!"

Mrs. He smiled and went back to her room.

Sister-in-law He looked at Yun Jin, who was wearing two jade bracelets, and mocked, "Wearing so many, aren't you afraid your hands will hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt, even if you have two more, it won't hurt. My sister-in-law has never worn one before, so she doesn't know. I'm so happy!" Yun Jin deliberately showed off.

Sister-in-law He's lips twitched, and she turned and went back into the house in anger.

Yun Jin was in a great mood and winked at He Tingchuan: "Is it pretty?"

He Tingchuan smiled and said, "Beautiful!"

"Let's go back to the room. I need to be careful with it; it can't be dropped!" Yun Jin went back to admire it, liking it every time she looked at it: "I'll give one to Xiao Niangao later, one for each of us, mother and daughter, how beautiful!"

"If you like it, I'll buy it for you later." He Tingchuan grabbed Yun Jin's small hand and kissed it.

Yun Jin was overjoyed by the flattery: "You said it yourself. I've heard there's a type of jade called Imperial Green, and I want that kind."

He Tingchuan readily agreed: "Buy it!"

Little Rice Cake was excitedly waving his arms and legs, chattering away, showing his full support.

Yun Jin and He Tingchuan were both completely charmed by the little rice cake, and each gave it a kiss on the left and right.

Little Rice Cake: Hehehe!

The next day, Yun Jin got up early. She had to put on an act at her in-laws' house. She got up to help He Tingchuan shortly after he got up. When He's mother saw her, she smiled and said, "It's so early. You should sleep a little longer with Xiao Niangao. You don't need to worry about things at home."

"I'm not sleepy. I like talking to Mom while I work!" Yun Jin also took a rag and wiped the display cabinet. She worked diligently and even managed to find topics to chat with Mother He.

They got the work done while chatting.

After busying herself in the kitchen for a while, Sister-in-law He came out and saw the scene of motherly love and filial piety between daughter-in-law, which was quite an eyesore.

Mother He asked, "Why hasn't Ziqian come back yet? Where's Zizhen?"

Sister-in-law He had a headache when she mentioned the two children. She glanced at Yun Jin, the troublemaker, and said, "I'll make a call and ask."

The call went through, but no one answered.

Just as Sister-in-law He was about to make a phone call next door, He Ziqian's voice came through: "Grandpa, Grandma, Dad, Mom, Uncle, Aunt, Little Rice Cake, we're back!"

A smile appeared on He's mother's face: "You still know to come back." Then she looked at He Zizhen, who had a long face, and asked, "Why didn't you greet us when you got back?"

He Zizhen was unwilling, but after being pushed by her older brother, she suppressed her disgust and said to Yun Jin, "Auntie, I was wrong yesterday. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you, and I shouldn't have complained that the rice you cooked was too wet. I'm sorry, please forgive me!"

Yun Jin didn't take He Zizhen's matter to heart. Anyway, she wasn't her daughter, and there would be plenty of people to teach her when she entered society.

Since they've already apologized, Yun Jin can't afford to be arrogant.

She said very understandingly, "Auntie isn't angry. You're still a child, what do you know? Auntie doesn't blame you. Just listen to your parents and grandparents more in the future and be a polite person!"

Sister-in-law He felt a sense of being subtly insulted.

Mrs. He, who loved seeing her family together in harmony, smiled and patted He Zizhen's shoulder with satisfaction: "That's how our He family girl should be. You can't be temperamental in the future. If you upset your grandfather, he really will send you to the countryside."

He Zizhen: "......"

Yun Jin asked curiously, "Go to the countryside?"

Sister-in-law He immediately smoothed things over: "Just kidding, Dad was just trying to scare Zizhen."

Judging from Sister-in-law He's reaction, Yun Jin realized that she was probably not joking.
