After dinner, He Tingchuan carried Xiao Niangao downstairs for a walk, while Yun Jin took a palm-leaf fan and used it to swat away mosquitoes from time to time.
The little rice cake is white and tender, and mosquitoes especially like to bite it.
Every time she got a pimple, it broke her father's heart.
Now I have to spray some mosquito repellent every time I go out, or I always have a fan in my hand.
Even so, she still took several bites, and the white rice cake looked so pitiful.
I don't go for walks in areas with lots of grass and trees; I just stroll around the lit areas of the courtyard.
Little Rice Cake loves to come out and play; she gets upset if she doesn't.
Seeing that Yun Jin was absent-minded, He Tingchuan took the fan and fanned Xiao Niangao, and fanned her a few times as well, and asked, "What's wrong? You look like you have something on your mind."
Looking at He Tingchuan's cold and stern face and his concerned expression, Yun Jin hesitated, unsure of how to speak. Although He's mother had miraculously survived this trip, in the original novel, she later deeply regretted her actions.
Before he died, he said that the person he felt most sorry for was his eldest granddaughter, He Zizhen. If it weren't for her, He Zizhen wouldn't have been disabled at such a young age, confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life, and unable to live a normal life.
Since getting to know Mrs. He, I've felt a pang of guilt and remorse for her as she gets older.
He Zizhen is indeed not a good child. Yun Jin still doesn't want to see her mother become depressed and blame herself.
Seeing her conflicted and troubled expression, He Tingchuan gently patted her head to comfort her: "We are husband and wife, what can't we say?"
Encouraged, Yun Jin decided to express everything she knew tactfully: "Tell me, if you knew what was about to happen, and if you spoke out, many people might be saved, but if you didn't speak out, you might regret it, what would you choose?"
Before He Tingchuan could speak, she said, "If you tell him, you might get into a lot of trouble."
He Tingchuan frowned.
Yun Jin looked at him expectantly: "If it were you, what would you choose?"
He Tingchuan hesitated: "If I'm going to get into trouble, then I have to consider whether this is worth facing the trouble ahead."
Yun Jin: "Perhaps it's worth it."
"Perhaps I'll regret it whether I do it or not."
He Tingchuan could tell that this was indeed a troublesome matter, so he took out a penny: "Why don't we see what fate has in store?"
Yun Jin raised an eyebrow. "..."
So, when faced with a dilemma, do you turn to metaphysics?
He Tingchuan said, "If it's the numerical side, then speak."
"I won't talk about the patterned side."
He Tingchuan held the coin in his hand and asked Yun Jin, "Do you want to toss it, or should I toss it for you?"
Seeing He Tingchuan's serious expression, Yun Jin gritted her teeth and snatched the coin from his hand: "I'll toss it myself. I believe that fate is in my own hands."
He Tingchuan was stunned by her resolute expression for three seconds. At that moment, he felt that she was radiating light. The courage and confidence in her eyes dazzled him, making his heart pound wildly.
His wife is irresistibly charming!
Yun Jin was unaware of He Tingchuan's heartbeat; her mind was entirely focused on the coin.
He took a breath, tossed the coin, his heart soaring into the sky with it. His gaze followed the falling coin as he caught it with both hands, silently chanting, "Numbers, numbers, numbers, numbers..."
He Tingchuan's attention also fell on her hands.
Looking at the coin shape revealed in the slowly opening palm, the pattern facing upwards.
As per their agreement, the pattern was left unsaid.
He Tingchuan secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Yun Jin frowned: "To hell with fate, I knew it."
Yun Jin's belated rebellion led her to decide to save as many people as she could: "Go call your mother right now and tell her not to go to Tang City. There's going to be a huge and severe earthquake there, and it will be dangerous for her if she goes."
He Tingchuan frowned: "Earthquake?"
Yun Jin nodded affirmatively: "That's right, I had a nightmare at noon. I dreamt that Mom encountered an earthquake. She wasn't going to Tang City with He Zizhen. I dreamt that a super earthquake happened there, causing countless deaths and injuries. Many people were buried alive. It was too tragic."
He Tingchuan looked at Yun Jin with a deeper meaning: "Did you really have a nightmare?"
Yun Jin nodded guiltily, meeting his uncertain gaze, and said, "Would I lie to you? I must have had a nightmare, otherwise how would I know there would be an earthquake over there? I think it must be some kind of warning from the unseen world."
He Tingchuan looked at her without saying a word.
Being stared at silently by him, Yun Jin almost didn't know how to hide herself.
Just as she was about to escape, He Tingchuan stuffed a small rice cake into her hand: "Did you confirm when you dreamed? If it's true, you can have the people from Tang City evacuate in advance."
"You believe me?" Yun Jin was dumbfounded.
He Tingchuan patted her head gently, giving her a sweet head pat: "You're my wife, you don't need to lie to me. I'll believe whatever you say. Don't worry, I'll persuade my mom to give up the plan to go to Tang City."
Yun Jin breathed a sigh of relief: "Your mother will definitely listen to you."
“I’ll listen to you, so my mom will listen to you too.” He Tingchuan was worried that there might be conflicts between his wife and mother.
Yun Jin punched him lightly: "Then hurry up and go. The sooner you confirm, the more at ease you'll feel. I vaguely remember it was around three or four in the morning when I was dreaming. I even checked the time in my dream."
Under He Tingchuan's expectant gaze, Yun Jin said a date: "It seems to be the 28th."
He Tingchuan understood: "Will there be an earthquake in Tang City around 3 or 4 a.m. on July 28th?"
Yun Jin nodded.
He Tingchuan kissed Xiao Niangao: "I'll take you downstairs."
Yun Jin waved her hand: "No need. I saw Li Aimei and her siblings. Let Xiao Niangao play with them for a while. Go make a call. If your eldest niece is still angry, you can deal with it yourself."
