Little Bean Bun has been with us for a week and is already an indispensable member of the family.
Xiao Niangao wants to find Xiao Doubao every day and take it for a walk. Sometimes she even wants to hold Xiao Doubao and ride in her stroller, but Yun Jin refuses. Xiao Doubao is still too young to walk the dog every day!
Having a puppy has brought a lot more joy to our home.
When the Mid-Autumn Festival arrived, Mother He sent a lot of mooncakes in advance. Yun Jin took a portion and gave it to the division commander's wife. Mother He had instructed her to give it to her, saying that the mooncakes were homemade and not as sweet as those bought outside.
Five-nut mooncakes are loved by everyone.
In this day and age, the sweeter, the tastier.
Yun Jin thought it was too sweet and didn't like it, as did the division commander's wife, who said she had bad teeth and couldn't eat anything too sweet.
Mother He's homemade mooncakes have controlled sugar content, so they're not too sweet and taste great. Yun Jin, who usually only eats a slice of mooncake every Mid-Autumn Festival, actually ate a whole one.
The division commander's wife also thought it was delicious, and in return, she asked Yun Jin to take a string of large crabs with her. She said they were lake crabs, sent by the logistics department. She couldn't finish them all by herself, so she asked Yun Jin to take some back with her.
Yun Jin likes to eat crabs, crayfish, and seafood.
Looking at these plump hairy crabs, each weighing about three ounces, and all of them being male, Yun Jin loved them even more.
We took the hairy crabs back to show Xiaoniangao and Xiaodoubao the novelty. Xiaodoubao was so scared when he saw hairy crabs for the first time that he peed his pants and hid in a corner, trembling and too afraid to show himself.
Little Rice Cake was bold and curious, wanting to poke it with her hand.
Yun Jin grabbed his mischievous little hand and kissed it: "When Daddy comes back, we'll steam it and eat it. We'll eat it, and you can watch, okay?"
Little Rice Cake's big, bright eyes seemed to disbelieve what she was hearing, her expression utterly innocent.
Yun Jin tapped her little nose: "You're too young to eat it yet. When you grow up, Mom will buy you as much as you want."
Little Rice Cake looked aggrieved: "Mommy!"
Yun Jin gave him a kiss: "Calling me won't help, let's see if your dad will give it to you."
He Tingchuan definitely wouldn't give it to him. He knows there are many things a child can't eat. Xiao Niangao is still young, and besides milk powder, he only eats rice cereal, egg custard, and noodle paste.
Crabs are definitely not edible.
Little Niangao munched on a comforting pepperwood teething stick, watching He Tingchuan peel crabs for Yun Jin, giving her both the crab roe and meat. Seeing how happily she ate, He Tingchuan immediately peeled one for her.
Some people were specifically there to peel crabs and eat them, which made Yun Jin extremely happy.
Speaking of which, He Tingchuan would also peel crayfish for her, knowing that she liked to eat these shelled ones, so he would feed her until she was full before eating them himself.
Yun Jin always felt like she had found the right person.
On the Mid-Autumn Festival, there was an event at the garrison. Dancers from the cultural troupe came to perform and offered their greetings. An outdoor stage was set up, and anyone from the family compound could watch. Yun Jin also went, pushing her little rice cake in a stroller, and brought a pomegranate with her.
When Aunt He sent the mooncakes, she also sent some pomegranates, which were growing on the tree at home. They weren't fully ripe yet, but they were still edible.
Yun Jin pushed the stroller, and He Tingchuan carried the child. They had just arrived at the performance venue when someone called out, "Director He?"
Yun Jin turned around curiously and saw a bright and beautiful woman. She stared at He Tingchuan with a complicated expression, looking at the little rice cake in his arms: "What's this?"
“My daughter, Xiao Niangao.” He glanced at Yun Jin beside him, his eyes revealing an undisguised tenderness: “This is my lover, Yun Jin.”
Yun Jin nodded generously: "You're from the performing arts troupe, right? You're so beautiful!"
Lin Die'er knew that He Tingchuan was married, but she didn't expect that his wife would be just as good as her.
Lin Die'er suppressed the bitterness in her heart and forced a smile: "Hello, sister-in-law, I am Lin Die'er."
"You've worked hard, and you even have to rest during the Mid-Autumn Festival to come here and comfort us!" Yun Jin said politely.
Lin Die'er felt that Yun Jin was being sarcastic towards her. If she were the one who married He Tingchuan, she wouldn't need to visit him in various places or perform on holidays. Was it because she didn't want to?
When she confessed her feelings to He Tingchuan, he didn't even reciprocate and rejected her outright.
Later, I heard that he married a woman from the countryside. I thought I would come here this time to see if He Tingchuan regretted rejecting me, who was so outstanding and beautiful.
Looking at Yun Jin's pampered face and the look in her eyes, Lin Die'er felt even more bitter: "It is my honor to be able to perform. After all, not everyone is as lucky as my sister-in-law to be able to marry Director He."
Yun Jin could see the undisguised hostility in Lin Die'er's eyes; she seemed to be another pitiful woman who wanted to marry He Tingchuan but failed.
Yun Jin may feel sympathy, but she won't let anyone treat her like a pushover.
She laughed and retorted, "You're right. After all, not everyone is as lucky as me to marry Deputy Brigade Commander He. For example, Comrade Lin probably can't compare to me, right?"
Lin Die'er: "......"
I've seen people with a sense of shame, but I've never seen anyone so shameless.
Wait... Deputy Brigade Commander?
He...he got promoted?
God knows how much effort and how much merit one has to make to get promoted in the military.
How could he become a deputy brigade commander at such a young age, around thirty years old?
Lin Die'er couldn't believe it. Her eyes were filled with complex regret and remorse as she looked at He Tingchuan. Why didn't she try again? Even if he had refused, she should have given it another shot.
Now things are much better; others have become successful, while I'm still a pillar of a performing arts troupe.
How much longer can she jump?
Yun Jin saw the complicated expression on Lin Die'er's face and knew that she was probably heartbroken, having missed out on such a good man as He Tingchuan.
Yun Jin deliberately asked, "Aren't you going to congratulate me?"
Lin Die'er almost cried from anger, okay?
He Tingchuan's lips curled up at Yun Jin's shameless behavior. He knew he wouldn't like someone for no reason; he would like Yun Jin and cherish her dearly.
