Chapter 196 Rice Cake Gets Targeted

In the days that followed, Yun Jin went back and forth between school and home every day. She would take the earliest bus to school, attend classes and eat meals, and then catch the bus home right on time after class.

Sometimes the professor would extend the class time, and Yun Jin would miss the bus and have to wait an extra ten minutes.

I got home half an hour, or forty minutes later than usual.

At times like this, Yun Jin would get a little anxious, worried that Xiao Niangao's neck would grow even longer.

A swan neck is also quite beautiful.

Ha ha!

Every day, Yun Jin and Xiao Niangao put on a heartwarming mother-son show. The bus drivers on this route are all familiar with Yun Jin and Xiao Niangao, mainly because Xiao Niangao is so cute that everyone loves her.

Every weekend, without fail, He Tingchuan would call.

That's not all. Yun Jin receives letters from He Tingchuan every week, and every time she replies, she includes a picture of Xiao Niangao. She can write a whole page about missing her father.

It was Yun Jin who told Li Aimei that Wang Xiaoting had given birth to a son. By the time Li Aimei received the letter from home, the baby was almost a month old.

Knowing that she had a little nephew, Wang Xiaoting wanted to prepare a gift. In the end, she invited Yun Jin to take Xiao Niangao shopping. In Ciqikou, they bought some fun ornaments to take back with them when they went home for the New Year.

When Xiao Niangao sees something pretty, Yun Jin buys it for her.

When buying porcelain, Yun Jin was very careful and didn't let go of the little rice cake.

Little Rice Cake tugged at Yun Jin's sleeve: "Mommy, that grandma keeps telling me to go over there. Does she know me?"

When Yun Jin turned around, she saw an old woman holding candied hawthorns not far away. When the old woman saw Yun Jin looking over, she turned away guiltily.

The perceptive Yun Jin frowned and instructed Xiao Niangao: "When you're out and about, don't eat anything from strangers. If a stranger talks to you, don't talk to her. Don't go with anyone you don't know; they're all bad people. They'll kidnap you and make sure you never see your parents again!"

Little Niangao, who was listening intently, was so frightened that she hugged Yunjin tightly: "Don't take me away! I want my mom and dad!"

"Sweetie, if that grandma offered you a candied hawthorn, would you eat it?" Yun Jin asked.

Little Rice Cake shook her head: "No, no, she's a bad person."

"If she asks you to go over and help with something, would you go?"

Little Rice Cake waved her hand: "No, no, she's a bad person."

"If she asked you what your name is, where you live, and what your parents do, would you tell her?"

Little Rice Cake refused: "I won't say anything, I won't say anything at all, I don't want to talk to bad people."

Yun Jin was satisfied and continued the anti-abduction education: "Good girl, little Niangao, remember, don't talk to strangers, go with them, or eat their food. They are all bad people who want to take you away from your parents."

Little Rice Cake nodded firmly: "I know, I won't, Mom. Don't worry, if I encounter bad people, I'll scream and ask them to save me. I can't let them take me away."

Yun Jin smiled and bought Xiao Niangao a candied hawthorn as a reward. She and Li Aimei each got one too. The three of them ate candied hawthorns and strolled around for a while. When they arrived at a park, they saw some children playing.

Little Niangao was also eager to play, so Yun Jin took her hand and led her over. After greeting the older girl, she gave her a candied hawthorn, and the older girl agreed to play with Little Niangao.

Little Rice Cake quickly blended in with the children, while Yun Jin and Li Aimei watched them play.

As more and more people gathered, Yun Jin saw a man reach for Xiao Niangao, which startled Xiao Niangao, who shook off his hand in protest. He continued to try to grab Xiao Niangao, but Yun Jin grabbed her canvas bag, which happened to contain the porcelain she had bought.

He smacked the trafficker on the head.

She stunned the man completely, and then continued to beat him.

He slapped her three or four times, then pulled Xiao Niangao to his side, saying, "Who are you? Why are you pulling my daughter? Are you a child trafficker? Help! Arrest the child trafficker! You're trying to snatch a child!"

Li Aimei also protected Xiao Niangao. The two of them looked like they were not to be trifled with, which made the man's face turn ugly.

Yun Jin's loud shout drew the attention of many people.

The guilty man pointed at Yun Jin: "You filthy woman, you just wait!"

Is Yun Jin someone who can be threatened so easily? She grabbed a piece of porcelain from her bag and threw it at him: "You'd better understand what you're planning to do. We're not people to be trifled with. If you dare to harm anyone, we'll make you eat gunpowder."

The other onlookers gathered around, their eyes cold as they looked at the menacing-looking man with his clenched fists.

Someone asked Yun Jin, "Is he a human trafficker?"

Yun Jin nodded: "He wanted to take my daughter away."

"You bastard, you're a human trafficker! I'll beat you to death! My sister was kidnapped by human traffickers, wasn't it you? Give my sister back to me!" With this man's righteous fist.

The fierce man was beaten and driven away.

Yun Jin comforted the frightened Xiao Niangao: "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. Next time you encounter a situation like this, just cry and scream that there are human traffickers."

Little Rice Cake nodded, hugging her with lingering fear, and said, "If only Daddy were here."

Yun Jin thought the same way.

Unfortunately, he had his own responsibilities and couldn't stay by their side forever.

This is the unpleasant aspect that women in military marriages have to bear and endure.

Men defend the country and its people, while military wives protect their homes.

When I parted ways with Li Aimei, I told her to be careful while she was away from home and to call the He family if she encountered any trouble. Although He's mother and her family were retired, their connections were much more useful than hers.

It would be better if she answered the phone if she was home.

Yun Jin couldn't answer the phone while at school.

Nowadays, not every dormitory building has a telephone.

Li Aimei nodded, knowing that Yun Jin was concerned about her.
