The next day, Guan Wei, along with her husband and Junjun, visited the family with a lot of gifts, including malted milk powder, fish, meat, and a large pig's trotter.
In addition, there are malted milk powder, shortbread, pastries, and soft drinks.
At that time, soft drinks were a rare treat, and both adults and children loved to drink them.
Especially children.
Little Rice Cake really likes it, but Yun Jin doesn't allow her to drink too much; she can have a taste occasionally.
Yun Jin was at home when she saw the family of three who had come to visit with lots of bags and packages. She warmly greeted them, saying, "You're too kind. Why did you bring so many things?"
"If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have found Junjun so quickly. You saved our family!" Guan Wei had been like a lost soul ever since her son went missing.
If it weren't for her burning desire to find her son, even at the cost of her life, she wouldn't have survived.
Fortunately, her son survived and met some good people.
Yun Jin offered a few words of comfort and let Jun Jun and Xiao Niangao play in the yard. While they ate their snacks, they secretly fed Xiao Doubao.
No wonder Doubao likes to stay by their side; there's food for them.
Yun Jin brewed tea for them, and Mother He chatted with them and invited them to have dinner at her home.
Guan Wei didn't stand on ceremony and nodded in agreement.
While cooking, Guan Wei spoke eloquently to Mother He and even cooked herself. Her culinary skills were unmatched by Yun Jin, showing the demeanor of a master chef. Mother He nodded in approval.
Mr. He played chess and chatted with Mr. Junjun. When Mr. Junjun saw the old leader, he became a little reserved. Mr. He told him to relax and that he wouldn't eat people.
The two also talked about the situation on the monkey's side, and once they started talking, they had endless things to say.
Once the braised pig's trotters, boiled fish fillets, and pork rib, carrot, and yam soup are ready, everyone washes their hands and prepares to eat.
He Zizhen also ate a big bowl of rice, and then took the two children to her school for a stroll. Junjun will be starting school soon, and looking at the school, he wanted to go to school with Xiaoniangao.
Guan Wei saw through her son's thoughts, but unfortunately they had to go with the army and couldn't stay in the capital.
Unless his father is transferred to Beijing.
The answer is no.
As they were about to leave, He Zizhen took a photo of Yun Jin and Jun Jun's family as a memento, and left Jun Jun's address so that Yun Jin could send the photo over after it was developed.
Junjun's dad's vacation was short; they had to catch their evening train to leave.
Yun Jin didn't try to stop her, and gave Guan Wei the old clothes she had prepared for Junjun: "If you have the chance to come to Beijing, remember to come and see me."
Guan Wei nodded.
Yun Jin hugged Jun Jun.
Junjun tried to speak, but couldn't, and in his frustration, he slapped his own mouth!
Yun Jin patted Jun Jun's head reassuringly: "Jun Jun, don't worry, take it slow. You'll get better and be able to talk. Then you can call Xiao Niangao and write her letters."
Junjun nodded, his eyes red.
Little Niangao hugged Junjun, and watching Junjun being taken onto the train by his parents, she waved and said, "Brother Junjun, you have to come to Beijing to visit me!"
Junjun nodded through his tears, wiping them away as he cried out, "Little Rice Cake Sister, I'll miss you!"
Little Rice Cake understood, and cupped her hands around her mouth like a trumpet: "Brother Junjun, I will miss you too, don't forget me!"
Junjun nodded affirmatively. The train started moving, and he was held by his father. He stretched his little hand out the window and waved. Soon, the train carried him away into the distance.
Yun Jin comforted Nian Gao, who was seeing her older brother off: "We'll meet again sometime. You're still young. When he's older and starts school, let Jun Jun study hard, take the college entrance exam, and come to Beijing to study."
Little Rice Cake clenched his fist and declared confidently, "I want to go to university too, and I want to go to the same university as Brother Junjun, Tsinghua or Peking University!"
"Great, let's get into Tsinghua or Peking University!" Yun Jin's face lit up with joy. She had never been able to get into Tsinghua or Peking University in either of her two lifetimes, so she could only pin her hopes on her daughter.
After Xiao Niangao got home, she excitedly told her parents, "Grandpa and Grandma, I want to get into Tsinghua or Peking University! I want to study too! Tomorrow I'll go to school with Mom!"
Mrs. He: "?"
Mr. He: "??"
Yun Jin: "???"
He Zizhen chuckled and said, "Little Rice Cake, you can't go to school with your mother. You have to start from kindergarten."
"Why?" Little Rice Cake protested, "I want to go to university with my mom, to Tsinghua or Peking University!"
This time it was Yun Jin's turn to laugh: "Mom can't get on, she doesn't have enough points."
Little Rice Cake was dumbfounded: "What should we do then?"
Yun Jin smiled and explained, "There's a way. As long as you work hard from kindergarten and keep getting into top universities, you can go to Tsinghua or Peking University!"
Little Rice Cake frowned: "How long will that take? What if Mom gets old? What if Grandma can't stay with me anymore?"
These words immediately brought a touch of sadness to everyone present.
Grandma He hugged Xiao Niangao tightly and said, "Grandma will definitely accompany you to college!"
"Grandma said so, pinky promise!" Little Rice Cake looked at her grandma's white hair and knew that her grandma was getting old. She really wanted her grandma to stay with her.
Mrs. He smiled and made a pinky promise with her.
Yun Jin felt a tenderness in her heart; this child was truly a little angel.
She was lucky to change the plot and give birth to Xiao Nian Gao.
Suddenly wanting to talk to He Tingchuan, Yun Jin dialed the phone number at the base. The person who answered told Yun Jin that He Tingchuan was on a mission and hadn't returned yet, and asked her to wait patiently and call her back when he returned.
Yun Jin then wrote a letter to He Tingchuan, affixed stamps to it along with Xiao Niangao's letter, and mailed it home.
I also visited Li Aimei over the weekend. In the warm spring of March, they went to climb the Great Wall together.
He's parents have started taking care of their health. They often practice Tai Chi in the yard with a group of people. Little Niangao also follows along and even pulls Yun Jin to exercise with them: "Grandma says that Tai Chi can cultivate one's character and strengthen one's body."
