In the morning, the nurse came to change He Tingchuan's dressing.
Yun Jin and the other two stared at it, noticing that there was nothing wrong with the eyes, except that they couldn't see. The medicine had a strong Chinese herbal smell and was said to be good for eyesight, so they decided to try applying it first.
As for whether it will be good or not, even doctors cannot guarantee 100%.
Everything else is fine, except I can't see.
They also called He's father to let him know that He Tingchuan was alright and that they were staying with him at the hospital.
Mother He said, "I'll stay here a few more days before going back. You stay home and take good care of Zizhen."
Mr. He nodded: "The eldest son and his wife are back. Everything is fine at home, so don't worry."
Mr. He asked, "Is the money enough? If not, I'll send you some. Don't be stingy with money."
"That's enough, don't worry about the money." The elderly couple chatted for a while before hanging up the phone.
Mr. He also told Yun Jin to take good care of the elderly and the child, and to let her work a little harder.
Yun Jin said it was no problem, and only after hearing her words did He's father feel at ease.
At night, Little Rice Cake has to keep watch.
Yun Jin couldn't possibly leave Xiao Niangao alone. She didn't know whether her father was taking care of her or she was taking care of her father.
Yun Jin spent money to rent an extra bed for a family member, and squeezed in next to He Tingchuan's hospital bed, with the three of them sleeping side by side.
Looking at the family of three like this, Mrs. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "Fine, you can all stay here with me. I'll go back and sleep in the big bed. It's all mine, I can sleep however I want!"
Little Rice Cake wasn't jealous; she just loved spending time with her parents. She waved her hand and said, "Grandma, go back to sleep now. Remember to close and lock the door, and don't open it if anyone knocks!"
This was what Yun Jin had instructed her to do. The small rice cake was used on her grandmother, just like before.
Mrs. He was charmed by her cuteness and nodded with a smile: "Okay, Grandma is going back."
Yun Jin was worried about Mother He crossing the street alone to return to the guesthouse, so she took Xiao Niangao and escorted her to her room before returning with Xiao Niangao.
When they returned, they saw someone selling loquats at the hospital entrance. It was almost Dragon Boat Festival, and some loquats were available. Xiao Niangao glanced at them, and Yun Jin bought two jin (1 kg) to take home.
I ate a small rice cake and my eyes squinted because it was so sour.
He ate another one and squinted his eyes again.
"Mommy, it's so sour!" Little Rice Cake revealed a pained expression.
Yun Jin narrowed her eyes: "It's so sour. If you don't want to eat it, give it to Dad!"
Little Rice Cake couldn't help but complain to her mother: "Dad is so pitiful. He's sick and still has to eat sour loquats. Mom, please be nicer to Dad!"
Yun Jin: "......"
He Tingchuan's love for this daughter was well worth it.
After returning home, Yun Jin asked He Tingchuan if he wanted to eat loquats.
He Tingchuan nodded.
Yun Jin said, "I was just asking, you can't eat it."
He Tingchuan raised an eyebrow: "Why?"
Yun Jin complained: "Your daughter said the loquats were too sour and wouldn't let me give them to you. She told me to be nicer to you. Sure enough, she has the same surname as you. She's so good to you, as if she's afraid I'll mistreat you."
He Tingchuan couldn't help but smile and reached out to Xiao Niangao.
Little Rice Cake rushed over: "Daddy, it's really sour, don't eat it."
He Tingchuan felt a warm glow inside because his daughter doted on him, but he also had to appease his jealous wife, so he could only swallow his pride and say, "Daddy likes sour things, Daddy likes loquats."
"Really? It's so sour!" Little Rice Cake said, precociously. "Dad, don't be afraid. I'm here. Mom won't dare to bully you."
He Tingchuan hugged his daughter tightly: "Nian Gao is so filial!"
Yun Jin: "Hehe!"
Finally, He Tingchuan tasted a loquat, and to his surprise, it was really sour!
The mother and daughter watched him eat it, his face contorted in pain, and they couldn't help but laugh.
The remaining loquats were given to the little rice cakes, two to one and three to the other. There was also a little girl with an injured eye who, upon hearing that there were loquats to eat, insisted on having some.
Little Rice Cake gave the remaining seven or eight loquats to the young lady: "Young lady, you can't cry because your eyes are injured. Tears will hurt your eyes. Wait until your eyes are healed before you cry."
"Oh!" The young woman sniffed, ate a loquat, and felt like crying from the sourness: "It's so sour!"
"Right? I think it's sour too!" Little Rice Cake isn't lying.
At night, Yun Jin woke up in the middle of the night, looked at her daughter who was sleeping soundly, and then looked at He Tingchuan who was sleeping. She quietly went to the restroom. The hospital was not quiet at this time, and someone was groaning in pain.
When Yun Jin returned, He Tingchuan had already woken up.
"Where did you go?"
"The restroom." Yun Jin held his hand and asked, "If my eyes can't be treated here, can we go back to Beijing for treatment?"
“You can ask.” He Tingchuan knew that Yun Jin was worried about his eyes.
“Okay, I’ll ask the doctor tomorrow, and then I’ll ask Political Commissar Li.” Yun Jin made up her mind.
The next day, Yun Jin asked the doctor. The doctor knew that his medical skills were being questioned, but he understood. Considering the patient's condition, the doctor nodded: "You can go to Beijing to see a doctor. My medical skills are limited. It would be best if you could recover as soon as possible. I can write down the situation here, and you can arrange the transfer."
Mother He called Father He and asked him to arrange a hospital in Beijing, especially a doctor specializing in eye treatment.
Yun Jin found Political Commissar Li and explained her situation.
Political Commissar Li said, "I'll make a call and ask. If it's possible, you can return to Beijing tomorrow. I'll arrange the train tickets."
Yun Jin nodded.
Political Commissar Li made the call, and the other end answered quickly. After listening to him, the other party hesitated for a moment. Political Commissar Li said emotionally, "He Tingchuan has sacrificed so much for the country. If it weren't for him, the war wouldn't have ended so quickly. Now he's injured and can't even get the most basic treatment. What does all his past sacrifices amount to?"
