When Sister-in-law Gao learned that Yun Jin had returned, she immediately came over to see what was happening. She saw the couple embracing, and she was stunned for a moment. She quickly pulled her foot back, unable to suppress a smile, and quietly went back to her own home.
As soon as Xiaoniangao came back, she took Xiaodoubao to play in the courtyard.
Having been away for a long time, Xiao Niangao is determined to reclaim her place in the courtyard.
He Tingchuan saw Sister-in-law Gao, but he didn't feel embarrassed at all.
Living together, and being a couple who love to be affectionate, it's inevitable that they'll be caught in the act.
Anyway, they didn't do anything, just kissed and hugged. He missed his wife so much and just wanted to be close to her.
After they finished kissing, Yun Jin touched her swollen lips and glared at He Tingchuan: "How are we going to face people later?"
“We’ve all been through this, what’s there to be embarrassed about? My husband and I have a good relationship, their jealousy is useless. As long as we don’t care, others won’t laugh at us.” He Tingchuan leaned closer again, and under her warning gaze, said, “It’s just a little kiss.”
Yun Jin leaned close to him to prevent him from becoming too aggressive and giving her another passionate kiss.
Her lips couldn't take it, not at all.
Yun Jin took the handbag and sandals she bought for Sister-in-law Gao, as well as small gifts for her child, such as headbands, hair ties, and hair clips. For the little boy, she got a pair of sandals and some small toys that were common in that era.
Sister-in-law Gao brewed some tea, glanced at Yun Jin's swollen lips, and then looked away to avoid making her uncomfortable.
Seeing that Sister-in-law Gao had seen through her but didn't say anything, Yun Jin smiled and asked, "Where are Gao Min and the others?"
"I went crayfish fishing. The crayfish population has been almost depleted in recent years, and it's getting harder and harder to catch them now." Crayfish are now a must-have dish at barbecue stalls in the summer. Without crayfish, business suffers a lot.
"Since wild ones aren't enough, you can have them farmed, and then you can buy them back." So many crayfish in later generations were farmed by farmers; as long as it's profitable, no one wouldn't want to raise them.
Sister-in-law Gao raised an eyebrow: "Is it okay to keep it?"
“As long as it can make money, why not? There are plenty of farmed options, even if they’re not wild. Everyone’s willing to catch things that are free. Now that some people are raising them, you won’t have to worry about not having enough food,” Yun Jin suggested.
Sister-in-law Gao was tempted.
Yun Jin asked Sister-in-law Gao to try out the leather bag and waist bag she had bought, which were specially used for collecting money for business. They could be tied around the waist so that the money wouldn't be lost.
Sister-in-law Gao liked them very much: "How much are these?"
"It's my token of appreciation, no need to talk about money. We can settle it by going out for barbecue and spicy hot pot later. You can accept it without worry." Yun Jin didn't stand on ceremony with Sister-in-law Gao.
Sister-in-law Gao didn't stand on ceremony and accepted the gift with a smile: "Let's go have barbecue tonight, I'll roast some pig's trotters for you!"
"Okay!" Yun Jin likes to eat roasted pig's trotters; they're chewy and full of collagen.
In the evening, Yun Jin and her husband, along with Xiao Niangao and Xiao Doubao who followed them, went to Sister Gao's barbecue stall. The stall started at five o'clock in the afternoon, and there were already customers.
When Yun Jin and her family of four appeared, many people turned to look.
He Tingchuan was wearing a shirt that Yun Jin had bought for him. He looked incredibly handsome and dashing. Walking with Yun Jin, they looked like movie stars.
Yun Jin was wearing a beautiful and bright long dress, which was a matching dress with Xiao Niangao. Many people were seeing it for the first time and couldn't help but take a second look. Some even asked where they bought it.
Yun Jin said she bought it at a clothing market in Beijing.
She didn't say that the clothing market belonged to her; sometimes it's best to keep a low profile.
"It's too far. I'll go to the city to take a look another day." The woman was tempted, but didn't dare to act on it.
Yun Jin didn't say anything.
After they arrived, the barbecue stall became lively, and Yun Jin asked if there was anything she could help with.
Sister-in-law Gao glanced at her pretty dress: "Go sit down. There's a lot of smoke here, you can't ruin your dress. I can manage!"
Since Sister-in-law Gao had said so, Yun Jin didn't bother her while she was working.
Gao Min, wearing the headband Yun Jin had given her, smiled and said, "Thank you for the gift, Auntie. I really like it. I'll grill a fish I caught myself for you later; it's really plump and delicious!"
"Okay, I want to taste how plump and delicious it is!" Yun Jin said expectantly.
She invited He Tingchuan and the others to sit down and went to choose what she wanted to eat. Basically, whatever she liked to eat, her family members also liked to eat.
A plate of crayfish was served, but before we could even start eating, Liu Sanchen arrived with his wife and daughter. Yuan Qing had given birth to a daughter, who was already several months old and ready to be brought out to see the world.
When Yun Jin saw the cute little girl, she couldn't help but hug and tease her.
Little Niangao curiously went over to take a look, and even planned to give her pretty hair clip to the baby with not much hair, but Yun Jin stopped her: "Wait until your sister grows up and her hair grows longer before you give it to her. You can wear it yourself now, and give her a prettier one next time."
Little Rice Cake nodded obediently.
Yuan Qing looked at the matching dresses worn by the mother and daughter and asked, "Were these dresses bought in Beijing?"
Yun Jin nodded.
Yuan Qing said expectantly, "When my daughter grows up, I'll buy her a set too, so we can wear them together."
Originally, Yuan Qing was in charge of buying clothes at the mall. When she saw He Tingchuan's clothes, she asked, "Brother Chuan, did your wife buy these for you too?"
Yun Jin nodded: "What do you think?"
"It looks great, and the style is different from what we have in our department store." They are a state-owned department store, and the clothes and such are all conservative and outdated in style, the kind that are very conventional.
If you want to be fashionable, it's probably going to be difficult.
Yun Jin seemed to remember something and asked, "How's business at the mall right now?"
"It's alright." Yuan Qing wasn't wrong; it was indeed alright. After all, it was a state-owned enterprise, so they were all pretty much the same.
There aren't many privately owned shops yet, so the impact isn't significant.
