That night, not long after Yun Jin and He Tingchuan went to bed, He Zizhen knocked on the door.
He Tingchuan opened the door: "What happened?"
He Zizhen cried anxiously, "Grandpa, Grandpa is sick! Uncle, go and see him quickly!"
Yun Jin immediately got up and asked, "What happened?"
He Zizhen said, "Grandpa suddenly started vomiting and having diarrhea before going to bed. He said that taking some tetracycline would make him feel better, but his stomach is even more upset now. He can't get up at all. Grandma is worried and asked me to find my uncle to take him to the hospital."
Yun Jin handed the small rice cake to He Zizhen: "You guys wait at home, we're going out for a bit. Don't be afraid, Doubao will stay with you!"
When Doubao heard its name called, it seemed to understand. Instead of following Yunjin, it ran to Xiaoniangao and stood guard over her, looking very reliable.
Yun Jin glanced at Doubao, changed her clothes for going out, and went out with He Tingchuan.
Little Niangao didn't cry or fuss: "Mom and Dad, you have to take good care of Grandpa!"
He Tingchuan nodded, locked the door, and the two men and the dog were locked inside.
Upon arriving at the guesthouse, Yun Jin and He Tingchuan went upstairs. He's mother stayed by He's father's side. He's father was covered in sweat from the pain, his face was pale, and he looked very uncomfortable. "Come on, let me carry you downstairs."
Mr. He shook his head: "My stomach hurts, I can't carry it."
He Tingchuan could only carry his father downstairs in a princess carry, as his father was too old to handle the exertion.
Yun Jin opened the car door, let He's father sit down, and then drove him to the hospital.
The car was borrowed from the local authorities; there were no buses running at this time.
Mrs. He sat in the back with Mr. He. He Tingchuan wiped his sweat and said, "Now that you're all here, who will take care of Xiao Niangao?"
"Lock them at home, Doubao will stay with them." Yunjin was reassured about Doubao: "Daddy, just bear with it a little longer, we'll be at the hospital soon."
Mr. He nodded and said apologetically, "I'm getting old and my health isn't good anymore. I'm sorry to have troubled you."
"What are you saying, Dad? Your health is more important. You didn't do it on purpose." Yun Jin said a few words of advice, then stepped on the gas and drove the person to the hospital as fast as possible.
Fortunately, there weren't many cars at night.
He Tingchuan carried his father to see the doctor, and Yun Jin parked the car before going to find them.
The doctor said it was acute gastroenteritis. Knowing he had eaten barbecue that night, the doctor said that he's getting old and his digestion isn't good. He should eat a light diet in the future and avoid spicy, numbing, and hot pot foods.
After receiving an IV drip, Mr. He seemed to come back to life.
Seeing that he wasn't in so much pain, Mrs. He breathed a sigh of relief.
Yun Jin and He Tingchuan were relieved.
Mr. He told Yun Jin and the others to go back and take care of the two children. He would stay at the hospital for one night before going back, and that his mother would be there to look after them.
Since Yun Jin and the others were already there, they didn't mind spending an hour or two.
It was past midnight when He's father finished his IV drip. Yun Jin drove home and ran into Sister-in-law Gao and her family on the way home from get off work.
When Brother Gao saw the car at the base and realized that Yun Jin was driving, he waved and asked, "Where are you going so late?"
Yun Jin explained embarrassedly, "Grandpa Nian Gao had an upset stomach and went to the hospital."
Sister-in-law Gao's expression changed slightly: "Did you get an upset stomach from eating barbecue? Is Grandpa alright? It's all my fault for not cleaning it properly."
Mr. He waved his hand: "It's not your problem. Everyone else is fine. I'm the only one who's not feeling well. It's just my stomach that's upset. Don't worry about it. Your barbecue and spicy hot pot are delicious and very clean."
Sister-in-law Gao secretly breathed a sigh of relief: "It's good that nothing serious has happened. Grandpa, you should pay attention to your diet in the future. Barbecue is too smoky, so you should eat less of it."
Mr. He nodded; after this incident, he dared not eat indiscriminately.
He wanted to watch Xiao Niangao grow up, and he wanted to see He Zizhen get married and have children, so he wanted to live a few more years.
After chatting for a bit, Yun Jin drove back, dropped the people off at the guesthouse, and after they settled in, the couple drove the car back, returned it, and went home. Sister-in-law Gao and the others also arrived home.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, everyone went back to rest; it was too late, and everyone was sleepy.
Inside the house, He Zizhen and Xiao Niangao, who were locked up, were already asleep. Xiao Doubao, hearing the noise, waited at the door.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw the little bean bun wagging its tail. I patted its head, washed my hands, and Yun Jin changed her clothes and went to bed.
He Tingchuan didn't want to make a fuss, so he took a nap on the recliner in the living room, while Yun Jin, He Zizhen, and Xiao Niangao slept together in bed.
Yun Jin fell asleep immediately.
The next day, around eight o'clock, Yun Jin woke up.
Hearing He Tingchuan and Sister-in-law Gao talking, Yun Jin opened her eyes. The two people beside her were still asleep. She got up, and He Zizhen also woke up: "Auntie, how is Grandpa?"
"Grandpa's fine, he'll just go to the hospital for a shot, don't worry!" Yun Jin said gently.
He Zizhen breathed a sigh of relief: "That's good, you scared me last night."
"From now on, when we eat barbecue or spicy hot pot, we can't ask Grandpa to go. He can't eat it," Yun Jin instructed.
He Zizhen nodded: "I understand!"
The two got dressed and went out to wash up. When they opened the door, they saw He Tingchuan cooking porridge in the corridor and Sister-in-law Gao cooking noodles. She greeted them with a smile, "Good morning!"
Sister-in-law Gao smiled and nodded. After the noodles were ready, she took them home for the family to eat, and didn't forget to ask, "Would you like a bowl?"
Yun Jin asked He Zizhen whether she wanted noodles or porridge.
He Zizhen glanced at the noodles sprinkled with scallions and minced meat, and said, "I want to eat noodles."
Yun Jin said to Sister-in-law Gao, "Give her a bowl of noodles!"
Sister-in-law Gao smiled and nodded: "Okay, I cooked a lot extra, enough for everyone. Little Rice Cake, would you like some noodles?"
Yun Jin turned around and looked at Xiao Niangao, who was rubbing her eyes and wearing sandals as she came out: "Want some?"
