Chapter 369 A Promise That Cannot Be Given

The food at the fancy hotel looked appealing, and it tasted alright too.

Since transmigrating into the book, Yun Jin has become less picky about food.

After all, it has only been open for a short time, and everything is still in need of rebuilding. There is not enough meat and fish at every meal, so when you occasionally have a banquet, you can't help but eat a few more bites of meat.

There were fish and shrimp on the table, and Yun Jin and Xiao Niangao both loved to eat shrimp.

He Tingchuan didn't join the group of men at the table. He sat wherever his wife sat, wanting to spend that little bit of time with her.

Even if they can't be close, He Tingchuan is content just to sit together.

Not long after the dishes were served, He Tingchuan barely ate any himself, instead peeling shrimp for Yun Jin and picking fish bones from Xiao Niangao's bones. Whenever the dishes were dishes that the mother and daughter liked, He Tingchuan would always put a couple of bites on Yun Jin's plate.

Li Wan watched He Tingchuan feeding his wife and daughter, secretly envious, and kicked the person next to her.

Li Wan used to think she had married well, but now, compared to Nian Gao's mother, she realized that there are always people better than her and things beyond her reach. Look how much that woman dotes on her wife; she not only serves her food but also peels, debones, and picks out the bones.

Zhao Junwei, whose foot had been stepped on, looked over and exchanged a glance with his wife. An unspoken understanding led Zhao Junwei to look towards He Tingchuan, where he happened to see He Tingchuan peeling a shrimp for Yun Jin.

Zhao Junwei: "..."

I never realized He Tingchuan was so considerate!

Who knew that marrying a wife would attract so much hatred?

It's like they're making it sound like everyone would feel sorry for their wife.

Zhao Junwei's damned competitive spirit made him immediately peel shrimp for his wife and remove fish bones for his son.

Li Wan took the peeled shrimp back, her expression not very good: "I'm allergic to shrimp."

Zhao Junwei was clearly trying to curry favor: "How about a piece of pork knuckle?"

Li Wan nodded, as a gesture of respect.

Yun Jin glanced at the couple, and twitched the corners of her mouth. She knew that Li Wan had seen He Tingchuan feeding her and wanted her man to show off, but it backfired.

My wife is allergic to shrimp and I didn't even know. Looks like I'm going to get a scolding tonight.

While they were eating melon, He Tingchuan peeled a lot of shrimp for her. Yun Jin shared some with Xiao Niangao, who said sweetly, "Thank you, Mom. Dad, you've worked hard. Dad, eat the meat."

Just then, the lion's head meatball arrived in front of Xiao Niangao. Knowing it was her father's favorite, Xiao Niangao immediately picked up her chopsticks, quickly and accurately stabbed into the meatball, and handed it to He Tingchuan: "Daddy, eat!"

Feeding him by his beloved daughter, He Tingchuan's eyes softened, and a loving father's smile appeared on his handsome face. He immediately took the food in his own bowl, and in front of Xiao Nian Gao, he took a bite: "Delicious!"

Little Rice Cake smiled happily: "I'll give Daddy some more next time!"

He Tingchuan felt a warm glow in his heart at being treated with such filial piety.

Zhao Junwei looked at the thoughtful little rice cake, then at his own son who had peeled shrimp but wasn't eating any himself, so he specially brought one to the little rice cake: "Little rice cake, have a shrimp that I peeled."

Little Rice Cake gave her a bite out of politeness: "Thank you, Brother Kang. You can eat it yourself, Brother Kang. My dad will peel the shrimp for me!"

"Oh!" Zhao Bokang nodded, and really peeled the shrimp himself. When he saw his father's look, he picked up an unpeeled shrimp for him and said, "Dad, peel it for me!"

Zhao Junwei: "......"

Others have daughters to feed them, but she has to serve her son.

Dear daughter!

Let's have a daughter!

It starts tonight.

They had high hopes, but reality wasn't so kind; in any case, their youngest son wasn't conceived tonight.

If I work overtime tonight, I might just have a daughter.

After Yun Jin had eaten and drunk her fill, knowing that He Tingchuan was about to leave, she pulled Xiao Niangao and left with He Tingchuan ahead of time.

The car was outside, and Yun Jin handed the car keys to He Tingchuan: "Do you want to drive it?"

He Tingchuan shook his head: "You drive, I'll just go for a ride!"

He Tingchuan put Xiao Niangao in the back seat, fastened his seatbelt, and then sat in the passenger seat. The new car was different; it felt different from any other car He Tingchuan had driven before.

It was worth spending over 200,000 yuan.

If he makes her wait for the bus now, he'll feel bad.

When motorcycles become unusable in winter, cars will provide shelter from the freezing cold.

Little Rice Cake looked at the scenery on both sides of the road, which didn't seem like the way home, and asked, "Mommy, where are we going to play?"

"I'm taking Dad to the station." Yun Jin fastened her seatbelt.

Little Rice Cake suddenly cried: "Is Daddy leaving? I don't want Daddy to leave. Daddy has only been back for a little while, and I haven't seen him enough yet!"

Seeing his crying daughter, He Tingchuan felt heartbroken: "My sweetie, Daddy will try to spend more time with you next time."

"Will Daddy come home for my birthday?" Little Rice Cake's birthday wish is for her family to be together. Daddy is family, and she wants to celebrate her birthday with him.

He Tingchuan could not give a guarantee.

Little Rice Cake noticed this and immediately broke down, wiping away her tears with her little hands. She cried with tears streaming down her face, looking pitiful and wronged, which made He Tingchuan unable to refuse her.

Yun Jin persuaded, "If Dad doesn't have time, how about Mom takes you to his post to celebrate the New Year with him?"

"No, I want Daddy back!" Little Rice Cake cried out, feeling wronged and willful.

He Tingchuan felt a pang of sadness: "Dad can't lie to Nian Gao. Dad might really not have time to celebrate your birthday with you."

Little Rice Cake felt even worse and burst into loud sobs.

Yun Jin and He Tingchuan exchanged a glance. Yun Jin pulled over and parked the car. He Tingchuan could only sit in the back, holding the crying Nian Gao, patiently comforting his daughter and kissing her forehead.

Yun Jin drove the car to the station, looked at Xiao Niangao who was no longer so sad, and said, "Daddy He said goodbye. On your birthday, Mommy will take you to the garrison, and we will spend the New Year with Daddy."
