Chapter 405 Watching the Lanterns

Yun Jin drove to the park where the lantern festival was being held, thinking there wouldn't be many people, but to her surprise, it was packed with people, so crowded that even bicycles couldn't get through.

The roadside was full of bicycles, and Yun Jin's car couldn't get through.

Seeing that it wasn't too far, Yun Jin suggested, "Why don't we get off and walk around?"

He's parents had no objections, and neither did Xiao Niangao and He Zizhen.

Little Bean Buns are a given; they can do anything as long as they have them with them.

After parking the car, Yun Jin locked it and followed He's parents towards the park. As soon as Xiao Doubao got out of the car, he peed a few times and then obediently walked with them so that he wouldn't get lost in the crowd.

After walking for almost twenty minutes, we finally arrived at the park entrance, where there were crowds of people and countless lanterns.

I must say, it looks pretty good.

There were too many people, so Yun Jin pulled Xiao Doubao herself, afraid that Xiao Niangao was too small a target and that the two of them would be stepped on without even realizing it.

Little Niangao didn't need to walk the dog; she just held her mother's hand. He Zizhen, on the other hand, held her parents' hands, looking around and marveling at how good the country was, especially with such wonderful programs for the Lantern Festival.

The park is very large; it takes one or two hours to walk around it. Lanterns are hung around the lake, and it would take about an hour to walk around the entire park. The entire park is decorated with lanterns.

There were many people admiring the lanterns, and some even turned around to look when they saw Yun Jin walking her dog.

Some people muttered under their breath, wondering why the dog was brought along, and whether it might bite someone.

The little bean is about to become withdrawn.

Yun Jin patted the dog's head reassuringly: "Our Doubao won't bite, right Doubao!"

Doubao nodded, a smile spreading across its face. Its bright eyes looked at its owner, and it nuzzled her with its head.

Yun Jin smiled and hugged Xiao Doubao, who regained his confidence.

After they had walked around for a while, stopping and starting, they saw someone selling candied hawthorns. Little Niangao wanted to eat some, so Yun Jin bought five skewers, one for each of them. He's parents couldn't handle it and said they would give it to Little Niangao.

After walking a few steps, they saw He Ximei coming with three children. Little Tangyuan was too young to eat candied hawthorns, so after consulting with Little Niangao, He's mother gave the extra candied hawthorns to her two older brothers.

The two older boys ate candied hawthorns and walked ahead with the little rice cake, while the children played by themselves.

Little Tangyuan also wanted to eat candied hawthorns, so Yun Jin gave He Zizhen money to buy a skewer. Even though she couldn't finish it, Little Tangyuan insisted on having some.

He Ximei laughed and said, "When we called you, He Ziqian said you were out, so we came out to see. We thought we wouldn't run into you. You didn't even invite us out to play."

Yun Jin was both amused and exasperated: "I was afraid you wouldn't want to come out if you brought glutinous rice balls."

"Tangyuan's grown up, we don't need to be so careful anymore. It's good to take her out to see the world occasionally!" He Ximei took a bite of her daughter's candied hawthorn. It was sweet and sour, and delicious!

In the end, she didn't eat a single candied hawthorn or glutinous rice ball; they all went into her mother's mouth.

Little Rice Cake saw a stall selling small lanterns and came to Yun Jin: "Mommy, there are lanterns for sale, they're so cute, can I buy one?"

Yun Jin asked, "How much is one?"

Little Rice Cake immediately ran back and asked, "It costs three yuan, and there's also one for five yuan. I know it's a bit expensive, but I still want it. Mom, can you buy it for me? I promise I'll take good care of it and not throw it away!"

With Xiao Niangao's guarantee, Yun Jin quickly took out thirty yuan and asked He Zizhen, "Do you want a lantern?"

He Zizhen blushed and shook her head: "I'm an adult, no thanks."

Yun Jin gave her the money: "Go choose a cup, and use the remaining five yuan to buy some roasted chestnuts!"

"Thank you, Auntie!" He Zizhen said she didn't want it, but if Yun Jin bought it for her, she wouldn't refuse.

We picked out several lanterns, bought one for Xiaotangyuan, and spent 25 yuan. We also bought 5 yuan worth of roasted chestnuts. Everyone was tired from walking, so we found a place to sit and rest.

The children played with lanterns, and they ate chestnuts.

They ate and drank until almost 10 p.m. before finally getting up to go home.

Yun Jin asked He Ximei, "How are you going to get back?"

“There are buses. They even put on the night bus today just so we could see the lanterns.” He Ximei understood what Yun Jin meant, and she smiled and said, “No need to see us off, we’ll take the bus home ourselves.”

"Be careful!" Yun Jin and the others waited until He Ximei's family of five boarded the bus before taking He's parents, Xiao Niangao who was happily playing with Xiao Doubao after receiving the lantern, and He Zizhen, who was in a good mood, to the parking area.

On the bus, He Ximei couldn't help but say to her husband, "If only we had money, we could buy a car and not have to squeeze onto the bus anymore!"

The man holding his daughter in his arms said with shame, "It's my fault for not being capable enough. I don't earn enough to afford a car."

He Ximei patted his shoulder reassuringly: "Forget it, no car is fine. Public transportation is good too. After all, not everyone is as good at business as Nian Gao Mama, who can buy a car worth over 200,000 yuan so easily."

Yun Jin was unaware that she was being envied again. The parking lot was too far away, and the whole family was exhausted from walking back. Those who had come by bicycle had all gone back, leaving a large empty space.

This prompted Little Rice Cake to complain, "Mom, next time let's park the car in front of the door, I'm tired of walking!"

Yun Jin was both amused and exasperated: "It used to be all bicycles, how about you ride a bike next time?"

Little Rice Cake shook her head: "Forget it, I still prefer riding in the car. Riding a bicycle is too cold, the wind is howling, and if I get sick, my parents will be so worried, and my grandparents will be so anxious!"

Yun Jin: "......."

You're good at patting yourself on the back.

Yun Jin parked her car outside, her biggest worry being that it would be vandalized. Fortunately, she was lucky today; the car was intact and had not been damaged or had anything stolen.
