Chapter 41 My Daughter's Dad is the Best

She was ignorant; she never expected to find such a large teacup at this time.

That's right, this time it was served in a large enamel mug.

It's like the rotating hot pot we eat in later generations, a big pot full of food that looks delicious.

The only downside was that there were scallions.

Yun Jin, who doesn't like scallions, frowned.

He Tingchuan had been watching her expression closely. When he saw her suddenly look upset, he frowned and asked, "What's wrong? Is this not what you wanted?"

"There are scallions. Next time, if I'm alone, I don't need the scallions. They're hard to pick out." Yun Jin picked up her chopsticks and was about to pick out the chopped scallions. She really didn't like eating scallions.

He Tingchuan was surprised that she didn't eat scallions.

Quick-witted as ever, he knew she didn't like it, so he picked all the scallions into his own bowl: "Tell me if there's anything else you don't want to eat, so I don't have to help you next time."

Watching the person carefully selecting scallions, Yun Jin shook her head: "There's nothing else but scallions. I'm not picky about food."

He Tingchuan looked at the scallions he had picked out, then at Yun Jin's smug face, and almost laughed out of anger.

She's not picky about food?

He Tingchuan hoped their child wouldn't be like her.

They're so hard to raise!

Seeing that Yun Jin had a great appetite and ate a bowl of pork offal noodles, and couldn't finish the rest, He Tingchuan ate it all, leaving not a drop of soup. He Tingchuan could even wash and eat the egg that had rolled on his forehead.

Yun Jin was full and didn't want to move.

He Tingchuan took the day off today, fearing that Yun Jin's situation might have changed, and thought he would keep an eye on her for another day.

He didn't rest; after washing, he took yesterday's dirty clothes and wet sheets out to scrub them.

Not wanting Yun Jin to leave his sight, and fearing she might go to the artificial lake to perform another "jumping into the lake" act, He Tingchuan invited Yun Jin to go with him.

Yun Jin nodded and tied her messy hair into a bun. Anyway, it was curly, and if she didn't tie it up, she would look like a frizzy monster, which would be ugly.

After she finished tying her hair, He Tingchuan was already waiting at the door.

Yun Jin locked the door, followed him with light steps, and gestured for He Tingchuan to go first with a look, while she followed slowly behind.

Passing by a group of elderly women chatting and cracking sunflower seeds in the open space downstairs in the courtyard, I could tell from their expressions that they were definitely talking about crickets behind my back.

Yun Jin shamelessly went over and asked for a pair of paws: "I'll buy some and treat everyone to some!"

The older women thought to themselves, "You stingy man! You've been married into this family for so long, and we haven't seen a single hair on your head, let alone anything else."

Because He Tingchuan was present, they didn't want to give him face, but they had to, so they gave Yun Jin a handful of melon seeds.

He Tingchuan: "..."

Once they were out of sight, Yun Jin declared matter-of-factly, "I provide them with cricket information every day, so it's perfectly reasonable for me to eat a handful of their sunflower seeds, right?"

He Tingchuan was speechless. He watched her sitting on a stone not far from the sink eating melon seeds. He buried himself in washing clothes, giving his own clothes a quick wash, but scrubbing Yun Jin's clothes very carefully after applying soap.

Just as I was about to rinse it, my arm was slapped twice.

He Tingchuan turned his head, and Yun Jin, who was a head shorter than him, looked up at him with a smile. When he looked over, she opened her small hand, revealing perfectly peeled sunflower seeds: "Daughter's dad has worked hard. Have some sunflower seeds to replenish your energy."

He Tingchuan's lips twitched. His gaze shifted from the plump sunflower seeds to her delicate face. His heart skipped a beat for a few seconds. After a cold look in his eyes met hers for a second, he looked away from her moist red lips and turned his face away in a slightly flustered manner.

He gently nudged her small hand with his elbow, not enough to knock away the sunflower seeds she was so eagerly peeling for him, and said in a flat tone, "No need, you can eat them yourself."

Yun Jin had been waiting for these words, and with a regretful sigh, she said, "Fine, then I'll eat it myself!"

The next second, she swallowed more than a dozen plump sunflower seeds in one gulp.

She just asked, and she knew He Tingchuan wouldn't eat it.

Haha, I flattered and belittled people and even got a good deal, making them so happy they had the energy to do laundry.

Tsk tsk tsk!

Men are indeed easy to please.

The women brought their families' clothes to be washed. Watching He Tingchuan diligently scrubbing the clothes, the tall and upright man, who should be holding the hands of a gunman, was actually scrubbing women's clothes.

This made the sisters-in-law blush with embarrassment, and they glared at Yun Jin, who was sitting under the shade of a tree eating melon seeds, with a mixture of jealousy and envy.

How could this woman have the nerve to let her own man do the laundry?

Is she still a woman?

They suffer so much during their military service, and when they come back they still have to wash clothes for women. Yun Jin is truly the most peculiar person in the compound.

One of the older women couldn't help but grumble, "Oh dear, why is Commander He doing the laundry? Did your wife hurt her hand?"

"This clothing shouldn't be for Commander He. Why aren't you training? Why are you doing housework?"

"Yeah, what wife makes her husband do the laundry?"

Several of the women's wives openly and subtly criticized Yun Jin.

Yun Jin seemed not to hear anything, looking at the sky, the ground, and them with an innocent expression, which was enough to make anyone furious.

He Tingchuan frowned, looking at the older women who started criticizing their wives as soon as they opened their mouths: "Can't men wash clothes? Do those who don't get married not know how to live a normal life?"

"Whether I go to training or not is my business, my sisters-in-law shouldn't interfere too much."

He Tingchuan looked at his embarrassed sisters-in-law with a blank expression and said, "My wife's hands are fine. As a man, I'm happy to wash her clothes. If you have any objections, you have to keep them to yourselves. Just mind your own business. It's none of your business what other people do."

After being severely and coldly reprimanded by He Tingchuan, they were all ashamed and blushed. They had kindly stood up for him, but he actually scolded them. They were now caught in the middle.
