Chapter 461 Saving the Galaxy

Yun Jin took Xiao Niangao and the others to eat a bowl of noodles in town. After they finished eating, she bought steamed buns for Li Cai and the others, knowing that they probably hadn't had breakfast yet.

We agreed to meet at 10 o'clock, and it's around 9 o'clock now, so there's still plenty of time.

Even so, Mr. He was still uneasy, pacing back and forth, eagerly awaiting news.

Yun Jin stood to the side with Mother He, while Xiao Niangao played with stones by the roadside out of boredom.

Time ticked by, and Mr. He kept his eyes fixed on the direction of Li Cai's village, afraid of missing anything.

Just before 9:50, Mr. He saw two dark figures running towards them from afar. They were running so fast that the one in front tripped and fell, lying on the ground for a while before getting up.

Yun Jin, with her sharp eyes, recognized who it was and reminded her, "It's Aunt Li Cai."

Mr. He squinted, and before he could even see who it was, he had already taken a step forward and walked towards Li Cai and the others.

The little rice cake person had quick legs and started running.

Mrs. He guarded their luggage to prevent it from being taken by others.

Yun Jin followed Father He and Xiao Niangao to greet them.

Seeing Li Cai and her companion looking disheveled, Mr. He asked, "What happened? Did someone come after us?"

Li Cai shook her head: "No, it's because we're afraid we won't make it in time."

Even if those people wanted to chase after her now, they wouldn't be able to. They're too busy putting out the fire to care about her and Goubao's whereabouts.

Today, she finally got her revenge.

If it weren't for the fact that she wanted to eat the gunpowder after killing them, she really wanted to take advantage of their sleep, burn them to the ground, and avenge herself.

Instead of setting a fire in broad daylight, giving them a chance to escape.

Mr. He reassured them, "Don't worry, we promised we would wait for you, so we won't leave you behind."

Yun Jin frowned as she looked at Li Cai, whose hair was singed at the end: "Did those people make things difficult for you?"

Li Cai shook her head.

Yun Jin asked again, "What happened to your hair?"

Li Cai wiped her hair before realizing that she had been so excited while setting the fire that she hadn't even noticed her hair getting singed. She made an excuse: "It's nothing, I just accidentally got singed by the kerosene lamp."

"It's good that you're alright. It's getting late, let's hurry up and go!" Yun Jin was afraid that if she lingered too long, she would be discovered.

Li Cai thought so too, and nodded.

Three minutes later, the group boarded a small four-wheeled vehicle heading to the city. Yun Jin had flagged it down on the road and paid ten yuan for it to take them to the city.

The little rice cake, sitting on the tipper truck for the first time, looked quite content as the wind blew in.

Goubao and Li Cai wolfed down the steamed buns Yun Jin had bought. They hadn't eaten white flour steamed buns in a long, long time; they usually ate coarse grain cornbread, the kind that was rough and sour.

Having gotten used to eating coarse grains, they were reluctant to swallow white flour steamed buns now. The more they chewed, the sweeter they became, and that's when they realized that steamed buns could be sweet.

At that time, the steamed buns were all made with old dough, which were firm and chewy. A fist-sized bun was enough to fill you up, unlike the soft and fluffy buns of later times, where even three buns might not be enough to satisfy your hunger.

Yun Jin, worried that they might choke, opened the kettle, which was already cold from the boiling water inside: "This kettle is for you to use. Nian Gao and I will share it. Give it back if you don't need it."

"No, no, I'm not thirsty." The kettle looked brand new; how could she possibly use something so nice?

"Don't be shy, take it." Yun Jin noticed her awkwardness and forcefully stuffed the water bottle into her arms, saying, "From now on, we're family, don't be so formal."

Seeing that Yun Jin didn't mind her appearance, Li Cai felt a lump in her throat and almost cried. Her cheeks puffed out, and the steamed bun in her mouth seemed even sweeter.

Goubao ate too quickly, and while Yun Jin and Li Cai were talking, he choked and stretched his neck. Without Yun Jin saying anything, he picked up the water bottle and drank it down with great difficulty.

As the small four-wheeled vehicle left the town, someone from the village rode by. Li Cai, with her sharp eyes, recognized who it was and quickly pressed Gou Bao's head down to avoid the person's gaze.

At the same time, Li Cai lowered her head to avoid being seen.

Yun Jin watched their movements, her gaze falling on the person who rode away on an old-fashioned bicycle. The person only glanced at her casually and did not recognize Li Cai and the others, but gave Yun Jin a second look.

Yun Jin remained expressionless.

The other person thought to himself, "I didn't expect there to be such a beautiful young wife in our small town. Her face is so fair and her eyes are so big."

The car drove for more than three hours and arrived at the train station, where Yun Jin and the others went to buy tickets.

Li Cai and Gou Bao were dressed in tattered clothes, and their hair was a mess. Yun Jin noticed that many people were staring at them and smelled their stench, which gave her a headache. Yun Jin suggested, "Why don't you stay in the city for the night, wash up, and then go back?"

Mr. He wanted to return to Beijing as soon as possible.

Yun Jin reminded, "There are many people on the train, and if there is any odor, people will say so."

Father He then nodded.

Li Cai and Gou Bao were both traveling far from home for the first time, and they didn't dare to wander around in the city for fear of getting lost.

Seeing that they weren't taking the train, he panicked: "Don't send us back."

Yun Jin reassured them, "We won't send you back. It's too late today. We'll stay at the guesthouse for the night and rest, then take the train tomorrow morning to leave."

"You really won't send us back?" Li Cai asked to confirm.

Mr. He nodded.

Li Cai was relieved.

Not long after they left the train station, people from the village arrived.

While searching at the train station, they happened to catch a train to Beijing. The group of villagers climbed over the fence and boarded the train, carrying guns in their arms. They were well-prepared, knowing that Goubao and Li Cai had been kidnapped by Yun Jin and her group.

Yun Jin didn't know that the driver who brought them to the train station had a wife who was Li Cai's niece from their village. After returning home, he heard from his wife that something had happened in their hometown. As soon as he told her, those people told him to bring men to arrest the person and not let them escape.
