The next day, Yun Jin woke up naturally.
He Tingchuan was already having dinner with his daughter downstairs at the hotel, and he also packed a bowl of lean pork rice noodles for Yun Jin that she might like.
"Mom, you're awake! Quick, brush your teeth! Dad took me to eat rice noodles, they were delicious!" Little Rice Cake lay on the bed, looking at her mother with eyes full of joy.
Yun Jin smiled and pinched her daughter's cheek. Meeting He Tingchuan's doting gaze, Yun Jin curled her lips and said, "Wait for me a moment."
The father and daughter nodded in unison, saying, "Okay!"
Ten minutes later, Yun Jin finished washing up and came out. She took a sip of the soup, and the sweet and sour rice noodle soup was very appetizing. Yun Jin ate a mouthful of rice noodles, and sure enough, it was the taste she liked.
While Yun Jin was having breakfast, He Tingchuan packed his luggage. They were going to the Martyrs' Park later and he probably wouldn't be staying there that night.
After Yun Jin finished eating, He Tingchuan packed his things, holding his wife's hand in one hand and his daughter's hand in the other. The suitcase was in Yun Jin's hand; if he was holding the suitcase, he couldn't hold his wife's hand.
To get to the Martyrs' Park, you need to take a bus. He Tingchuan knew the way, so he led his wife and daughter onto the bus, protecting them from being jostled by others. When he saw an empty seat, he let his wife and daughter sit down while he stood to the side.
A heartwarming scene of a family of three on a bus drew the attention of many.
After arriving at the station, He Tingchuan helped his wife and daughter off the bus. Once they were settled, the bus departed.
The Martyrs' Park isn't as beautiful now as it will be later; it looks a bit desolate and hasn't yet been developed into a park where middle-aged women do square dancing.
The trees planted weren't very tall and straight, and the shrubs looked neglected, with branches growing wildly.
In short, compared to the well-planned and well-maintained Martyrs' Park that Yun Jin saw in her later years, it was much more desolate.
He Tingchuan knew the location of Brother Yun's tombstone, so he led the mother and daughter straight to the back of the tombstone. When Yun Jin saw the tombstone with Brother Yun's name on it, she knew that he was buried there.
There are no photos, only names.
"Big brother, we've come to see you." Yun Jin whispered as a greeting, and then instructed Xiao Niangao to bow three times: "This is your eldest uncle."
Little Rice Cake said solemnly, "Hello, Uncle! I'm Little Rice Cake. My mom, dad, and I have come to see you!"
He Tingchuan silently thought to himself: [Brother, I've brought my wife and daughter to see you. Don't worry, they've been doing well these past few years. Aside from not having enough time to spend with them, they're doing alright.]
If you are watching over them from heaven, please bless them, mother and daughter, with peace and good health.
Yun Jin looked up and saw He Tingchuan closing his eyes devoutly, as if he were telling his brother Yun something.
Yun Jin felt a little guilty, afraid that her identity would be exposed.
On second thought, their relationship is so good, even if He Tingchuan finds out, what can he do to her? Divorce her?
Is he willing to do that?
With this in mind, Yun Jin felt confident and wasn't worried at all that her brother Yun might know something and appear in He Tingchuan's dream.
He Tingchuan pulled out all the weeds near the tombstone, and Yun Jin took a handkerchief to wipe the dust off the tombstone.
The small rice cakes were arranged as offerings, along with the flowers they brought.
The family of three lingered in the Martyrs' Park for quite a while, making sure that all the weeds nearby had been cleared before they decided to leave.
Yun Jin said, "Brother, we're leaving now. We'll come to see you again when we have time."
Little Rice Cake said, "Goodbye, Uncle."
He Tingchuan thought to himself: [Brother, I'm leaving.]
As the family of three walked to the park entrance, they encountered other people who had come to pay their respects.
Upon meeting, Yun Jin, with her sharp eyes, recognized who it was.
Just like her, Little Rice Cake recognized the person and exclaimed in surprise, "Are you Brother Junjun?"
The family of four who came to pay their respects were taken aback when they saw Yun Jin and the others, then their eyes lit up: "What are you doing here?"
After exchanging pleasantries, Yun Jin and Jun Jun's mother struck up a conversation. Looking at the child in her arms, Yun Jin asked, "Is it a daughter?"
Junjun's mother nodded.
Yun Jin asked again, "How old are you?"
"Almost two years old," Junjun's mother told her daughter to greet people.
The little girl was a bit shy, burying her head in her mother's arms and too embarrassed to speak.
Little Rice Cake and Junjun stood together: "Brother, are you also here to pay respects to the heroes?"
Junjun nodded: "My uncle is here. Dad brought us to see him."
He Tingchuan asked around and found out that he knew the uncle Junjun was talking about.
I never expected it to be Junjun's uncle.
Since the two families rarely meet, Junjun's mom suggested that they have lunch together.
Yun Jin did not refuse and nodded in agreement.
The family of three waited at the door for twenty minutes before Junjun's family of four came down. Junjun's mother said, "I know a restaurant that has good food. You must try it."
"Okay!" Yun Jin had no objections.
When she arrived at the restaurant and saw the authentic mushroom and chicken hot pot being served, Yun Jin knew she had come to the right place.
People here love to eat mushrooms, and their mushroom soup is especially delicious.
The pot arrived, but the bowls and chopsticks didn't.
Little Rice Cake asked curiously, "Mommy, how can we eat without bowls and chopsticks? Did you forget?"
Junjun knew this, and he explained, "Little Rice Cake, don't be in a hurry. Wait until the mushroom soup is cooked before serving. They are all wild mushrooms. If you eat them before they are fully cooked, you might see little people."
"See the villain?" Little Rice Cake was pleasantly surprised.
Junjun nodded seriously: "Yeah, last year my mom didn't cook the mushrooms properly. After I ate them, I saw a lot of little people in the house. I was almost carried away by them."
Yun Jin: "This is poisoning."
Little Rice Cake covered her mouth in fright: "Mommy, we don't taste good, we're poisonous."
Yun Jin smiled and reassured her, "It'll be fine once it's cooked. It smells delicious."
Little Rice Cake still didn't dare.
