Yun Jin was reading documents in the car. It wasn't time for Xiao Niangao to get out of class yet, so she waited in the car.
The mobile phone that was placed to the side started beeping.
Yun Jin picked up her cell phone and saw it was a call from home, probably urging her to come back. Today was Xiao Niangao's birthday, and He's parents had prepared delicious food, hoping their granddaughter would return home soon.
Yun Jin answered: "Five minutes left, wait a little longer, Nian Gao will be done with get out of class soon."
"Honey, it's me!" He Tingchuan chuckled on the other end of the phone. "Don't worry, I'll be waiting for you at home."
Yun Jin's hand tightened around the mobile phone, and she asked in disbelief, "He Tingchuan?"
"Um!"
"Why won't you let me pick you up?" Yun Jin complained.
He Tingchuan laughed and said, "I can still make it to the airport now."
"You're willing to make me make another trip?" Yun Jin said irritably.
He Tingchuan shook his head: "I can't bear to part with you. I'll wait for you at the gate of the compound."
"You wait!" Yun Jin was about to hang up when He Tingchuan's voice came from the other end, reminding her, "Drive safely and obey traffic rules. I'm not running away."
"Tch, you can run away, but you can't hide." Yun Jin laughed and hung up the phone, eagerly getting out of the car to find Xiao Niangao, wanting to get back as soon as possible.
Little Nian Gao has finished class and is changing clothes: "Mommy!"
Yun Jin looked at her daughter, who had grown into a graceful young woman. The twelve-year-old girl was bright and lovely, and looked to be about the same height as Yun Jin, having inherited her father's long legs.
Yun Jin smiled and waved: "Let's go home!"
"Okay!" Little Rice Cake followed with a smile: "I don't know when Dad will be back. He said he would celebrate my birthday with me."
"Don't worry, your father will definitely keep his promise." Yun Jin gave the gift she had prepared to Xiao Niangao. Xiao Niangao opened it and saw that it was the pager she wanted, and it was pink.
Little Niangao was delighted: "Thank you, Mom! I'll contact you on the pager if I need anything from now on!"
Do you like it?
"I love it!" Little Rice Cake smiled happily.
Yun Jin curled her lips into a smile, thinking to herself, "There will be something you'll like even more later."
Yun Jin obeyed traffic rules and arrived at the compound safely.
Little Niangao, who was chatting happily with Yun Jin about school, suddenly saw a familiar figure: "Mom, look, that person looks like Dad. Could he be my dad?"
Yun Jin smiled and stopped the car next to He Tingchuan: "Handsome, want to get in?"
He Tingchuan smiled and opened the passenger door: "Thank you, beautiful lady!"
"You're welcome!" Yun Jin asked with a smile, "Is the handsome man married?"
He Tingchuan smiled as he fastened his seatbelt: "It's settled. I have a beautiful and gentle wife, and a lovely and well-behaved daughter!"
"Daddy!" Little Niangao excitedly rushed over after confirming she hadn't mistaken him for someone else, hugging her father across the back of the passenger seat: "When did you get back? Why didn't you pick me up from school?"
"I got home 30 minutes ago. I should have picked you up from school. Dad will pick you up next time." He Tingchuan patted his daughter, who was hugging his neck so excitedly that she almost strangled him.
Little Rice Cake then let go: "Okay, Dad, don't go back on your word."
"Not this time," He Tingchuan assured him.
Yun Jin noticed the bandage on his hand and raised an eyebrow: "Let me see your hand."
He Tingchuan said frankly, "It's just a minor injury, nothing serious!"
Seeing that he was able to move freely, Yun Jin breathed a sigh of relief: "Did you come back to recuperate or take a vacation?"
"I'm taking a vacation to spend time with my wife and daughter." He Tingchuan's eyes were gentle. "I should be able to spend more time with you in the future."
Yun Jin raised an eyebrow: "You got promoted?"
He Tingchuan smiled and nodded: "Yes!"
Little Rice Cake enthusiastically exclaimed, "Wow, my dad is so amazing!"
"Thanks to your support, Dad is where he is today. You are both amazing!" The father and daughter praised each other.
Yun Jin just listened; as long as he returned safely, she would be happy even if he didn't get a promotion.
Little Rice Cake's birthday wish: I hope my parents, grandparents, and little bean bun can always be with me.
Not long after Xiao Nian Gao's birthday, the movie she starred in was released.
He Tingchuan used to not have time to go to the cinema, but now it's different. Yun Jin opened a cinema that shows Hong Kong and Taiwan movies, mostly movies made by Xiao Niangao.
When the new movie was released, Yun Jin brought her family to support it.
It's different from watching at home; the atmosphere in a movie theater is much better.
Xiao Niangao is now a very good actress, starring in movies by famous directors, and has gained many fans.
She was also spotted by a TV drama director and is about to start filming a TV series. As a minor actress, she is now basically playing supporting roles.
Yun Jin was happy to let her learn from the seniors, and Xiao Niangao also liked acting.
Movies are not as popular as TV series these days.
In many places, there are no movie theaters, so everyone stays home and watches TV.
As they came out of the movie theater, Yun Jin's mobile phone rang.
Upon seeing that the number was He Zizhen calling, Yun Jin answered, "Zizhen?"
The voice on the other end said, "Auntie, it's me, Chuming. Zizhen gave birth to a healthy baby and she asked me to let you know!"
Yun Jin smiled: "Congratulations! We'll buy plane tickets and head over later. Let her get some rest!"
Upon hearing Yun Jin's words, He's parents asked, "Did Zizhen give birth?"
Yun Jin nodded: "Mother and child are safe. Xiao Lin called. Are you going to Shanghai?"
After returning from abroad, He Zizhen ended her three-year relationship with Lin Chuming and got married. They usually lived in Beijing, but now that she was about to give birth, she returned to Shanghai to have her mother-in-law take care of her during her postpartum period.
