When He Tingchuan returned, he found that there was a little tail following him around.
Wherever he went, Yun Jin followed, never complaining of being tired while holding her pregnant belly, always keeping up with him step by step, which made him always have to look back to make sure he didn't bump into the pregnant woman.
He Tingchuan had been traveling for two days and one night. It was inconvenient to groom himself on the bus, so his beard grew stubble. Even after shaving it on the bus, it didn't help; it would grow back overnight.
I spent two days on the train and I smelled terrible.
Seeing the travel-worn man, Yun Jin covered her nose with a small handkerchief: "There's still water in the bathhouse, go wash up quickly and scrub yourself properly. Use my shampoo and I bought you a bar of soap, take it."
Feeling rejected, He Tingchuan blushed and secretly sniffed his own scent.
And let me tell you, it smells really bad.
He Tingchuan went to the bathhouse, and Yun Jin found Li Aimei chatting with the other women: "Your older brother is back. You don't need to keep me company tonight. Go back and sound him out first. If there are no problems, tomorrow is Monday, which is perfect for you to go to school to register."
Li Aimei was overjoyed: "Great! You're finally back. I'll go back right now."
Yun Jin didn't linger, watching Li Aimei rush home.
Yun Jin waited at home for He Tingchuan to return.
Looking at the two large packages he brought back, she wondered what was inside. She really wanted to open them and see, but she could only resist the urge.
After washing up and scrubbing his dirty clothes clean, He Tingchuan spent almost forty minutes carrying the wrung-out clothes to hang on the clothes rack downstairs. When he encountered his sisters-in-law who were out for a walk, they were taken aback when they saw him.
"Commander He is back?"
"Commander He is so diligent. He washes his own clothes. My husband can't compare."
"Commander He is just being considerate of his wife."
He Tingchuan nodded perfunctorily and strode home.
He could see her staring from upstairs from afar, and He Tingchuan also wanted to go back as soon as possible.
The two met in the corridor, their eyes met, and she stared at him with her big, bright eyes, looking at him with amazement. He felt strangely uncomfortable.
On the surface, He Tingchuan appeared calm and collected, but inside his heart was pounding. He walked up to Yun Jin and saw her staring at him without saying a word. Her ears turned slightly red, and he tapped her forehead with his fingertip: "Why were you waiting outside?"
"Just getting some fresh air!" Yun Jin was too embarrassed to admit that she wanted to see when he would be back.
"Why didn't you pack my luggage?" He Tingchuan thought she would have already eaten pomegranates when he returned.
Who knew this person would just stand there like an idiot and say, "We're husband and wife, no need to be so formal. You can check my bag anytime."
Yun Jin was waiting for these words, but she said, "I'm so sorry, what if there's something you don't want me to see?"
“What could I possibly not want you to see?” He Tingchuan raised an eyebrow.
Yun Jin subconsciously looked down at his lower body, and He Tingchuan's face flushed. He coughed shyly and reminded her, "I bought you a lot of delicious food. Take it out and keep it yourself."
Yun Jin glanced at the man who was awkwardly avoiding her gaze and curled the corners of her lips into a smile.
He Tingchuan brought a backpack and a handbag, both stuffed full. When the backpack was opened, it was filled with malted milk powder, milk powder, candy, pastries, brittle, and fruit—all food items.
The packages were all well protected by him and none of them were crushed.
These were all carried back by hand.
Yun Jin said it was impossible not to be moved.
At the very bottom is a pomegranate.
I thought that with such heavy pomegranates, I would only be able to carry three or five at most.
When she took out the pomegranates, and seeing thirty or fifty of them, Yun Jin realized how heavy his backpack was: "Don't you think it's heavy?"
He Tingchuan rubbed his shoulders and shook his head: "I wasn't tired from the train ride. The pomegranates from our own farm are very sweet."
"Your mission this time is in Beijing?" Yun Jin was surprised that he had gone home.
He Tingchuan nodded, looking guilty, and said, "I'm on a mission, so I can't tell you, and I can't take you back on the way."
Yun Jin shook her head to show her understanding: "I can't go far in my condition right now. It's not your fault. You have to go on missions yourself and can't take care of me at all. I'm fine here in the compound."
Looking at the pomegranate, which was the size of a fist, Yun Jin wondered if it would spoil before she even finished eating it.
Nowadays, without refrigerators to keep things fresh, pomegranate peels become difficult to peel once they dry out.
Even if Yun Jin couldn't finish eating the pomegranates, she wouldn't be disappointed since the person had carried them all the way back from so far away: "You're so good to me, carrying pomegranates back from so far away. Did you eat them on the train?"
He Tingchuan shook his head.
Yun Jin didn't know how to retort, so she handed him two pomegranates: "Peel them and we'll eat them together. I've never had your family's pomegranates before!"
And so, having received his wife's instructions, He Tingchuan took a bowl and sat down to peel a pomegranate. Having eaten pomegranates since childhood, he knew how to peel them quickly and cleanly.
He Tingchuan peeled a pomegranate while watching Yun Jin take things out of her bag.
Aside from his change of clothes, he bought almost everything for her.
There was also soft fabric and a soft wool sweater, a beautiful white wool sweater with a sophisticated style. It felt soft to the touch and looked warm.
He Tingchuan explained, "I saw a nice one at the mall, and since you don't seem to have a wool sweater, I bought one for you."
Fearing she might refuse, He Tingchuan added, "It won't be long before it gets cold here, so dress warmly then."
He Tingchuan thought she would look good in white, so he borrowed money to buy it without hesitation.
The twenty yuan pocket money Yun Jin gave him was far from enough; this wool sweater was expensive.
This one costs 70 yuan, which is equivalent to three months' salary for most people.
However, when it comes to buying clothes for my wife, even if they're a bit expensive, it's worth it as long as she likes them.
