Yun Jin rested for two days, and then went back to work at the barbecue stall on the third day.
Seeing her return, Gao Min secretly breathed a sigh of relief: "Auntie, it's all thanks to you. I shortchanged you by three cents yesterday, and my mom scolded me to death."
"It's normal at first, it'll get better gradually. I received the wrong package before too," Yun Jin comforted her.
Gao Min couldn't believe it: "Really? What if we received the wrong one?"
Yun Jin smiled and said, "If I make a mistake, I won't make up for it myself. You should do the same. If you make a mistake, make up for it yourself. You'll learn from your mistakes and be more accurate in your calculations in the future."
Gao Min had no objections.
Yun Jin asked about Gao's situation. After the stall ended today, there were still some ingredients left, which they grilled themselves.
Yun Jin asked, "Sister-in-law, Ai Mei is going back to Beijing in a few days. What do you think we should do with this stall?"
Sister-in-law Gao was just waiting for Yun Jin to say this: "Can I drive it myself?"
Yun Jin looked at Li Aimei: "Okay."
Sister-in-law Gao was overjoyed: "That's great! When you return to Beijing, I'll bring Gao Min with me and give her 50 cents a day."
"Great!" Gao Min was happy to get paid.
Five cents a day, that's fifteen dollars a month, how wonderful!
Li Aimei smiled and said, "Then my sister-in-law will start grilling the meat tomorrow, and I'll check the heat."
Sister-in-law Gao nodded, happy at the thought of running the stall from now on.
Thinking of something, he asked, "Then how should we divide this money?"
“No need to split it. Since you’re willing to take it over, this business is yours from now on.” Yun Jin wasn’t going to be taken advantage of: “You just have to pay me the rent, eleven yuan a month. I signed a ten-year contract.”
"That's for sure. I'd be willing to take over even if it's the 15th, let alone the 11th." Sister-in-law Gao had long wanted to take over after they started school, but she was too embarrassed to ask. Now that Yun Jin had asked, there was no reason for her not to agree.
Yun Jin teased her on purpose: "Sister-in-law said it's fifteen, so the rent will be fifteen yuan every month from now on."
Sister-in-law Gao: "......"
Yun Jin looked at Sister-in-law Gao, who was taking it seriously, and laughed: "Just kidding."
Later, Sister-in-law Gao really gave her fifteen yuan, but Yun Jin didn't take it; she didn't need those four yuan.
After they finished talking that evening, Li Aimei took the money and went home. Li's mother was still awake. After Li Aimei gave her the money she had earned that day, Li's mother also inquired about the barbecue stall: "What did your sister-in-law say about that stall? You're all going back to Beijing, you can't just close it down, can you?"
If it weren't for taking care of her grandson, Li's mother would love to set up her own stall.
Li Aimei knew what her mother was thinking: "My sister-in-law said that she would let Sister Gao take over the business, and she would pay Sister Gao rent every month. From now on, the barbecue stall will belong to Sister Gao."
"What, give it to her?" Mrs. Li asked excitedly, "You agreed to that too?"
Li Aimei nodded.
Li's mother scolded her for being stupid: "Why don't you take over yourself?"
"I want to go to university."
“It’s not like you have to do it. You take over, and I’ll call your cousin over. We’re family, after all. If your cousin makes money, we won’t be left out,” said Li’s mother, siding with her nephew.
Li Aimei pouted: "My cousin can't do it."
"How can he not do it if he didn't do it?" Li's mother retorted.
Li Aimei said, "He's lazy, good-for-nothing, stupid, and can't even do math. Don't ruin our reputation."
These words angered Li's mother, who slapped Li Aimei: "You child, you're siding with outsiders! That's your cousin!"
Li Aimei was beaten, but she didn't say a kind word: "Anyway, it's already Gao's sister-in-law's. Even if you don't want to, it's no use. She set up the business, so she's in charge."
"You got a share too," Li's mother retorted.
Li Aimei has a conscience: "It was because my sister-in-law took pity on me and helped me earn money. I can't take advantage of her. If it weren't for my sister-in-law, how could I have earned so much money in a day?"
Mrs. Li pursed her lips: "How much can it be? The lion's share is in their hands. You silly girl, you've suffered a great loss and you still think others are good people. They take half, how much do you get?"
Li Aimei didn't want to argue with her mother-in-law; she knew how good her sister-in-law was, and that was enough.
Li Aimei knew that her mother had her own selfish motives, and that she could only rank second in her mother's heart.
Yun Jin thought there would be no problem with Gao's sister-in-law taking over the barbecue stall, but who knew that Li's mother would come looking for her. As soon as Li's mother arrived, she asked, "Nian Gao's mother, your aunt is good to you, isn't she?"
Yun Jin: "???"
Under her demanding gaze, Yun Jin smiled and nodded: "My aunt is very good to me."
"Since you appreciate it, that's fine. I didn't mean anything by it. I just wanted to ask if you could run your barbecue stall for me since you're not doing it anymore?" Mrs. Li asked directly.
Yun Jin raised an eyebrow: "Did Ai Mei tell you that my business has been taken over by Sister-in-law Gao?"
Mrs. Li nodded: "I did tell her, I gave her a good scolding last night. How can we give such a good business to outsiders? I'm her mother, wouldn't it be better if we took over ourselves?"
Yun Jin felt a little comforted, knowing that Li Aimei wasn't heartless.
“Since Auntie knows, she should understand that it has already been agreed that Sister-in-law Gao will take over this barbecue stall, and I will not go back on my word,” Yun Jin stated.
Mrs. Li said disapprovingly, "Why not? You just said you'd give it to me, it's just a matter of a word."
Yun Jin didn't tolerate Li's mother's behavior: "It's like this, I started this business, I put in the money and effort, I take the lion's share, your daughter takes three shares, and Li Gao's wife takes two."
Mrs. Li nodded: "That's right, if you don't do it, then my daughter will."
"If you want to look good, you should go to school," Yun Jin reminded her.
Li's mother said, "I can give it to my nephew."
Yun Jin said, "Only if the three of us don't take over can we give it to an outsider. Now that Sister-in-law Gao has taken over, outsiders have no chance."
