Chapter 427 Meeting an Old Friend in a Foreign Land, A Trap

Qin Bai looked at the broken earthenware pot at his feet.

Why.

I was just about to leave when I accidentally kicked this piece of junk.

It seems there's no way to leave now.

At this moment, the woman opened the door and came out, followed by the brother and sister.

Xu Mingyuan was still holding a mop in his hand, staring intently at the dark figure in the distance.

"Don't be nervous, I'm not a bad person."

Qin Bai walked over helplessly.

The two little ones exclaimed in surprise when they saw that familiar face.

"It's that older brother who bought so many flowers from us."

Wen Si wasn't on guard at all, and was actually quite happy to see Qin Bai.

Xu Mingyuan also put down the mop in his hand, but his eyes remained vigilant.

The woman was stunned for a long time after seeing Qin Bai. When she saw that he was dressed in a suit and tie and wearing an unknown brand watch on his wrist, her eyes became noticeably flustered.

"Sir, thank you for your help the other day. May I ask what brings you here?"

"No, I was just passing by."

The woman's calm voice made her seem even more uneasy, and her gentle eyes held a hint of disappointment.

"Oh, well, that's all right now, let's go back."

After saying that, he pulled the brother and sister into the house.

As I stepped over the threshold, I lost my footing and tripped.

"Ouch..."

After a gasp, the person fell heavily to the ground.

"Sis, are you alright?"

"Your knees are all scraped up, you should go to the hospital right away."

The brother and sister hurriedly helped the woman up.

Qin Bai remained standing with his hands in his pockets, coldly observing everything unfolding before him with an expressionless face.

He only walked over after the woman had tried several times to stand up without success.

"I'll do it. You guys go find some iodine or something."

Qin Bai entered the house and gently helped the woman up.

"Thank you, thank you..."

She kept talking, the strands of hair falling over her forehead obscuring her gentle eyes, and also hiding the tears that were about to flow.

"Hey, how come you're still so stupid?"

Qin Bai sighed and took the cotton swabs and disinfectant that Wen Si handed him.

The woman stared blankly as the cotton swab, stained with brown liquid, was applied to her knee.

The slight pain made her feel that everything around her was somewhat unreal.

"Sir, are you sure you haven't mistaken us for someone else? We didn't know each other before..."

"Ling Xiangxue, you don't really think I have dementia, do you?"

Qin Bai closed the lid of the iodine solution, slowly stood up, and looked around the one-bedroom apartment.

Next to the dining table, there was a simple bed with a few clean clothes on the neatly folded quilt.

The house wasn't big, but it was very tidy.

A few minutes later.

"ah?"

An untimely voice then rang out.

"Qin... Qin Bai, do you still remember me?"

"Um."

He casually agreed and sat down in the chair opposite Ling Xiangxue, staring at her thoughtfully.

Xu Mingyuan and Wen Si glanced at the two of them, surprised that their sister and this seemingly wealthy older brother knew each other.

only.

The atmosphere seems a bit off right now.

"Sister, we've finished eating. Let's go study in the back room first."

Xu Mingyuan tugged at Wensi, who was full of questions, and walked into the bedroom.

Bang!

Once her independent little world was shut out, Ling Xiangxue finally snapped out of her shock.

Ignoring the pain in his knees, he limped and began clearing the dishes from the table.

"Qin Bai, please have a seat. I'll tidy up a bit; the room is a bit too messy..."

While muttering to herself, she deftly picked up the bowls and chopsticks, and also threw all the clothes on the bed into the closet.

Qin Bai remained silent, his eyes coldly fixed on her every move.

A few minutes later.

A cup of hot water was placed in front of him.

"I'm sorry, we don't have any guests coming over, so we don't have any tea."

Ling Xiangxue kept her head down, pulling her floral dress up with both hands to cover the wound on her knee, trying to hide what was supposed to be bad.

She still seemed very awkward in front of Qin Bai, like a child who had made a mistake.

"Judging by the time, you probably haven't graduated from university yet, right?"

"After graduating from high school, I stopped going to school."

Qin Bai was taken aback; this was somewhat different from what he had expected.

Where are your family members?

"They...have all passed away."

Ling Xiangxue's tone wasn't as sorrowful as I'd imagined; it sounded like she was talking about someone else.

"I'm sorry." Qin Bai's tone was no longer cold; it contained a hint of emotion.

"It's nothing, it's been a long time."

Qin Bai pointed towards the bedroom: "What's going on with them? They have different surnames, they shouldn't be related by blood, right?"

"Oh, those two children are orphans. We live together so we have company, otherwise we'd be quite scared."

Ling Xiangxue sensed the change in Qin Bai's tone, and her anxiety lessened somewhat, so she spoke with a gentler tone.

The strands of hair on his forehead were tucked behind his ears, and upon closer inspection, Qin Bai could see the face clearly.

She's quite different from how she was in high school; she's become much more refined and beautiful.

The gentleness between her brows was as unrestrained as a pool of water, especially her eyes; you always felt that if you looked at them too long, you would be drowning in them.

Their eyes met.

Ling Xiangxue immediately lowered her head again, an unnatural blush appearing on her fair face.
