In the snow-capped mountains.
Qin Bai glanced at his phone's navigation.
"I hope she's not lost."
He looked up again at the surrounding objects for comparison.
very good.
There wasn't a single landmark within a radius of a hundred miles.
If you absolutely must find one, look at the moon in the sky, which is still "working".
By this time, the sky was gradually darkening, and the whole world was shrouded in white.
He suddenly thought of his well-behaved little one at home. If he brought her here, maybe she could communicate with the snow.
Since they're all so completely white, there must be some connection between them.
Qin Bai continued walking forward. The snow-covered landscape looked quite nice at first glance, but after looking at it for a while, he felt like he would get lost in it.
He already regretted it; why did he pretend to know everything?
I should have called Feng Chacha before I came.
Now it's even worse; there's no one to help me, and I could be out of contact for three days without anyone knowing.
But making phone calls now is rather pointless.
If there's no surprise inside a surprise, can it still be called a surprise?
Since we're already here, let's look around some more.
"Rat-a-tat-tat-tat~~~"
The sound of a tractor came from behind.
Qin Bai saw a glimmer of hope for survival.
He threw his suitcase into the middle of the road, not daring to stand there himself. What if someone thought he'd encountered some wild ghost and stepped on the gas, and he might take off like a rocket?
That's the beauty of a world covered in snow; it magnifies the moonlight infinitely.
A plume of black smoke appeared in the bright silver.
As they approached, Santa Claus, driving a tractor, stopped his vehicle next to Qin Bai.
An elderly man in his sixties looked the young man in front of him up and down.
"You're from outside, aren't you?"
"Yes, sir, where are you going? Could you give me a ride?"
"I'm going to the village ahead, come on up."
"Thank you so much, sir. Please wait a moment."
Qin Bai ran to a spot a dozen meters away and, under the old man's astonished gaze, pulled a suitcase out of the snow.
"Young man, why are you burying this thing in the snow?"
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm a historian, and I'm here mainly to study whether snow can be used to grow suitcases."
"Haha~~~" The old man was amused: "Nonsense, you're trying to stop my car, aren't you?"
"That's not important." Qin Bai was so thick-skinned that he didn't feel embarrassed at all even after being exposed.
Thump thump thump~~~
The tractor is back on track.
"Young man, the people here are all kind-hearted; they'll lend a hand to anyone they see on the street."
"Grandpa, can I scan the QR code?"
WeChat or Alipay?
The honest old man took out his phone.
"Oh no, why is there no internet?"
"I also accept cash here."
"......"
This old man is a bit cheeky.
"Young man, are you here looking for someone?"
Qin Bai rubbed his frozen ears: "Yeah, my girlfriend was disobedient and ran back by herself, so I came to pick her up."
"Hey, your wife ran away? Who did she go with?" The old man's ears perked up.
Qin Bai sighed: "Sigh, it's my fault for not keeping a close eye on her, especially with her stepmother."
The old man simply rotated his head 180 degrees.
Who wouldn't want some juicy gossip?
"Hey, grandpa, watch the road! You're going to crash!"
"Impossible. I've been walking this road for decades. I could go home with my eyes closed. You won't believe me."
Then.
Grandpa Pi really did close his eyes.
Apply force with your hands.
Go for it.
Thump thump thump~~~~
The tractor suddenly accelerated, giving Qin Bai a feeling of being pushed back in his seat.
One tactical lean back nearly knocked his head off.
"I believe you, I really believe you. Please stop using your supernatural powers now."
"You believed it so easily? I thought you'd struggle for a while." The old man opened his eyes, smacked his lips, and seemed somewhat unsatisfied.
"Come on, continue, let me hear what happened."
Qin Bai cleared his throat. Since the old man was willing to listen, he was willing to make it up. Consider it payment for saving his life.
"It was a snowy night. I was walking alone on the road, and after climbing 48 steps, I arrived home. When I opened the door..."
The key to storytelling is creating an atmosphere; without background music, a ghost story is no different from a narrative.
The sound of the wind in his ears and the surrounding tranquility blended perfectly, captivating the old man so much that he stopped looking at the road and just stared at Qin Bai.
Half an hour later.
Grandpa Pi fell into deep thought.
"I think I understand now. After all this talk, you're basically saying your mother-in-law brought your girlfriend home for the holiday, right?"
"Wow." Qin Bai looked shocked: "Perfect comprehension."
The old man was so angry he laughed: "Alright, alright, you're quite something, young man. You've taken so long to explain something that can be said in one sentence."
"Hehe, I just didn't want you to be bored!"
"That's great. I bet your girlfriend finds being with you quite interesting."
Qin Bai saw Cha Cha's smiling face.
Since they started dating, they haven't seemed to have had a fight, which should be considered a happy thing, right?
The biggest advantage of darkness is that you can spot the light as soon as it appears.
The village in the distance was brightly lit, quite different from what Qin Bai remembered.
The village is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and the warm light shining through it makes it look like a castle in a fairy tale.
A giant snowman became the fortress's loyal guardian.
It's a bit different from the snowman I saw a few days ago.
