Chapter 41 Things Beyond One's Power

When Qin Bai entered the inpatient department, he was greeted by a little girl who looked to be about six years old.

"Hello, Brother Qin Bai." The little girl stood in front of him in a childish voice.

He crouched down and reached out to tidy up the stray hairs on the girl's forehead.

Coco looks so beautiful today.

"Of course!" The little girl was overjoyed to hear the praise.

Where are your mom and dad?

Coco pointed in the direction of the ward: "They're talking to a really fierce uncle inside, and they told me to come out and play by myself?"

Qin Bai frowned slightly: "A very fierce uncle? What does he do?"

Coco shook her head, indicating that she didn't know.

"Aunt Cheng Jing, why haven't I seen her lately?"

"Oh, she's in another ward. I'll take you to see her in a bit, okay?"

"Yes, I miss her very much."

As a cute little patient in the hospital, she was familiar with most of the patients here.

leukemia.

A name that strikes fear into people's hearts.

But this cliché plot still ended up happening to Coco.

Thankfully, her parents did not give up and sold everything they owned to pay for her medical treatment.

They sold their car and house, and borrowed money from all their relatives to keep Coco alive until now.

One is a delivery driver, and the other is a cleaner.

Two people who earn money through physical labor cannot afford such high costs.

Fortunately, they had previously bought Coco an insurance policy, which gave them hope.

If the insurance company can process the claim quickly, it might be enough to cover the cost of her bone marrow transplant.

"Coco, let's go back to the ward first. Maybe your parents have finished talking."

"Okay." The little girl nodded obediently and reached out her round little hand to grasp one of Qin Bai's fingers.

The two, one big and one small, walked towards the ward.

As we approached the door, we heard loud shouts coming from inside.

Qin Bai sighed; his fears had indeed come true.

A man dressed as a food deliveryman, his veins bulging, was grabbing a man in a suit.

“Say it again, why can’t we get compensation? We paid insurance premiums.”

A pale-faced woman stood beside him, desperately clutching the man's hand.

"My dear husband, please don't hit them! I beg you, please talk to them nicely. Coco's life is in their hands."

“These people are so unreasonable. When we paid, they clearly said that we could get compensation if we were sick.”

At this moment, Coco let go of Qin Bai's hand and rushed to the man.

Clutching at his clothes, she cried out in a tearful voice, "Daddy, you can't fight! Let go, let go!"

Hearing his daughter cry, the man quickly let go of her and knelt down to hug her.

"Coco, don't cry, Daddy won't fight, be good, don't cry."

Qin Bai leaned against the door frame, arms crossed, watching the touching scene unfold before him with a calm expression.

The man's name is Zhang Cheng, and the woman's name is Sun Min; they are Coco's family.

The one in the suit is undoubtedly an insurance agent.

Tragic scenes like this play out every day in the hospital.

Qin Bai was one of them, but he was helpless and desperate.

He once knelt before the gods in the temple for a long time, willing to exchange his own life for Cheng Jing's health.

But it was all for naught; I ended up catching a cold.

Qin Bai also asked himself, was it because his heart was not sincere?

Did the gods know that the incense was taken from in front of other statues and then placed in the incense burner in front of him?

Thinking about it later, it seems unlikely.

Such a secret matter, which one deliberately tries to forget even when kneeling, how could the gods possibly know?

Therefore, from then on, Qin Bai stopped trusting the old man who sold cut cakes and never stepped into the temple again.

Sun Min forced a smile as she walked up to the insurance agent.

"Brother, you can see what kind of situation our family is in. Please, have mercy and give us the money back."

The insurance agent straightened his disheveled shirt and adjusted his glasses.

He sneered, "Ha! Weren't you so tough just now? You wanted to hit me? Go ahead and hit me, I'll extort you all."

"I'm sorry, it's all my husband's fault. I apologize on his behalf. I'm so sorry..."

Sun Min stood before him, bowing and scraping, apologizing profusely.

Qin Bai's expression didn't change much when he saw this.

There are too many things like this; he doesn't want to get involved, and he can't get involved anyway.

Should I argue with the insurance agent?

Or perhaps they could go in and comfort Coco's family.

All of this is completely futile.

I'm already risking my life to clean up my own mess, so I don't have the energy to worry about other people's business.

Instead of wasting this time, you should spend it talking to your mother and cheer her up.

Thinking of this, he turned and walked out.

The noise in the ward continued.

"Now you're thinking of apologizing? What were you doing just now? Let me tell you straight, there's no way I'm going to pay you back this money."

“I’ve seen plenty of people like you trying to commit insurance fraud. If you want to sue us, we’ll see you through to the end.”

"A bunch of country bumpkins, go ask around where the courthouse is. What's the point of treating illnesses if you're poor? You might as well just die..."

Upon hearing these words, Zhang Cheng hugged Coco tightly, his eyes reddening as he clenched his fists.

Sun Min was already sobbing uncontrollably, and she kept pleading with him.

But these actions did not elicit sympathy; instead, they brought even more humiliation.

At this moment, Qin Bai walked back to the ward.

Seeing Coco trembling with fear, he slowly squatted down.
