Chapter 252 Sometimes You Don't Need to Lie

"I'm not tired. My conscience only goes offline occasionally, it's not like it's been eaten by a dog." He said, rolling up his sleeves. "What am I going to do?"

"The dough should be ready by now, you can go and make the dumpling wrappers."

Chen Lu nodded, rolled the rested dough into a long strip, and cut it into small pieces with a knife. "I can roll out dough very quickly."

This is no exaggeration. When he was a child, every Chinese New Year, Wang Xiaoxia would call him and the children of relatives who came to visit to the kitchen and ask them to help roll out the dough. They would pay him one cent each.

Children are always eager to do things like selling slaves, and in order to earn some pocket money, their speed is gradually developed.

However, the reason I'm still maintaining this pace is entirely out of passion.

After all, dumplings are something that can be made carefully enough to last for several meals. After that, you can just take them out of the refrigerator and cook them directly in a pot. The process is not much different from cooking instant noodles.

Convenient and delicious.

Who wouldn't like it?

"Why is this the first time I've ever eaten dumplings made by you, even though we've known each other for so long?" Chen Lu suddenly remembered this and couldn't help but ask curiously.

“You didn’t tell me you liked to eat these things, so I only focused on learning the dishes you liked.” Liang Zhirou bit her lower lip. “Besides… I’m actually not very good at making dumplings. That’s why I asked you to roll out the dough.”

"Why can't I do it?" Chen Lu slapped himself as soon as he said it.

I was so preoccupied with the new game that my mind went a beat slower than usual. The answer to this question was obvious. If Liang Zhirou couldn't answer, what other reason could there be?

As expected, this simpleton answered every question. After a moment of silence in the kitchen, the girl's gentle voice could be heard again.

“After my father passed away, my family didn’t eat this much anymore. For the first two years, I didn’t know how to cook, and my mother didn’t care to teach me. Later, I didn’t think about learning it either… Now that it’s almost Chinese New Year, I’ve only recently learned how to cook.”

Liang Zhirou was too embarrassed to ask her mother to teach her, because she thought that she couldn't be a wife who didn't know this.

After getting married, you can't just eat frozen food during the Lunar New Year, can you?

"that......"

Just as Chen Lu was about to say something, he saw the girl turn around and smile sweetly at him, "It's all in the past."

He curled the corner of his mouth slightly, then said nothing more.

Soon, only the sound of a cleaver hitting the cutting board could be heard in the kitchen. Before long, Chen Lu had finished his work and turned to quietly watch Liang Zhirou's back while replying to Peng Leyun's message.

He used to study aimlessly, just getting through one exam after another as a law student. He never failed a course and was always among the top students in his class. But in the end, he didn't know what he was working so hard for.

Now... now he's busier than he ever imagined. He's juggling work and Liang Zhirou non-stop. He often comes back right after finishing a meeting. He can walk the route between the company and his rented apartment with his eyes closed. In the future, he might have to occasionally accompany Liang Zhirou on live-streamed drawing sessions.

But apart from actual work hours, I didn't feel particularly tired.

As he rolled out the dough, he glanced once more at Liang Zhirou's ponytail-tied back, the dazed feeling lingering in his mind.

Life suddenly became very fulfilling.

These ordinary days are like a tranquilizer, able to relieve all the anxiety and unease in one's heart.

"After the New Year, after the Spring Festival, why don't you find an opportunity to move in here?" he suddenly said, as if possessed.

Liang Zhirou turned to look at him. "Are you thinking about dirty things again?"

Chen Lu lowered his head, still looking thoughtful, a bitter smile playing on his lips. "It's not that, I just don't really like living alone."

Unlike Jiang Chao, he was raised with too much freedom because of Chen Guanglin and Wang Xiaoxia's parenting style, so he particularly dislikes being alone.

However, he was just saying that; it's not a trivial matter. Dating and living together are two different things when it comes to what others say.

After all, the two of them haven't really reached the point of discussing marriage yet, even though he talks about marrying this silly guy every day.

But that was just talk; it was only natural that this simpleton wouldn't agree.

He hasn't done enough, and Liang Zhirou has no reason to trust him so much.

Just as he was lost in thought, the sound of chopping meat beside him suddenly stopped.

"I probably can't be here every day, since Mom's leg isn't healed yet."

"You agreed?!" Chen Lu immediately turned his head and asked, his excitement causing him to flatten a large piece of the dumpling wrapper he had just rolled out.

Liang Zhirou turned her head away and didn't say anything more, only her long ponytail swaying back and forth as she cut the meat.

"Wife, I love you!" He rushed over and hugged the girl, his face beaming with smiles.

"Why are you so addicted to it...?"
