Chapter 4 The Same Cloud

Upon hearing this, Chen Lu immediately stood up, took out his phone, and checked the missed calls.

The night in Hangzhou was cold, making Chen Lu's heart tremble with cold.

Sure enough, they only called me once and didn't send a message.

Mo Yuqing, do you think I'll definitely take the initiative to find you again...?

Do you think I'm so insignificant?

Chen Lu looked up for a while, and after recovering his senses, he swiped left to delete the record of the missed call.

He glanced at the time again; it was already past eleven. He then slowly began to speak:

"Let me take you home."

Seeing that the girl was still looking down and not saying anything, he continued, "I also take this route home, but I can't go back to school from here."

The other person nodded slightly, and then the two walked together on the street.

"My name is Chen Lu, the road where there is no road to take." Chen Lu said, handing his coat to the other person. "What's your name?"

My name is Liang Zhirou...

Liang Zhirou spoke while looking down at Chen Lu's shadow. Because she was afraid that Chen Lu would catch a cold if he took off his coat, but she was not good with words and did not know how to refuse, she simply pretended not to see him.

Anyway, I didn't look up at him...

He probably didn't notice that I was looking at his shadow the whole way, did he?

Seeing that the other person didn't say anything, Chen Lu simply put his coat on her.

"It's okay, I'm not cold."

Seeing that the other person was about to take it off, Chen Lu went up and wrapped the collar of the coat tighter. "How can you be so silly? You're freezing and you still say you're not cold."

It's going to get colder tomorrow, so remember to bring a jacket. The temperature probably won't stabilize until after the Qingming Festival.

"Th...thank you."

Although Liang Zhirou's voice was still very soft, Chen Lu could hear the shyness and gratitude in her words.

My heart felt inexplicably warm.

So even for something as trivial as this, someone would say thank you to me?

Hearing this, Chen Lu was somewhat dazed. He had draped a coat over Mo Yuqing's shoulders countless times.

But I never heard a word of thanks.

Not a single word.

"And... I'm not stupid..." After a while, Liang Zhirou suddenly said seriously.

"well."

Liang Zhirou seemed rather sullen, and Chen Lu wasn't in the mood to say anything either, so the two walked quietly together.

With nothing else to do on the way, Chen Lu took a quick look at the somewhat self-conscious girl. When their eyes met, Liang Zhirou really impressed him.

So he was even more curious why such a beautiful girl would keep herself hidden.

"Why do you keep your head down? And why do you have such long bangs?" Chen Lu said with a yawn. "You should be a little more confident. I've only ever seen one person as beautiful as you in all my life."

"Although there may still be brainless boys bullying you, there's a greater chance that other people will come to your aid."

After a long silence, Liang Zhirou finally spoke slowly: "This way, it's less likely to be noticed..."

Chen Lu then understood. He had guessed from her earlier statement that buying medicine would cost a lot of money that the other person might not be from a well-off family. For a girl with this kind of personality, being too good-looking would not be an advantage.

This characteristic only becomes valuable when combined with factors like family background, like Mo Yuqing's.

The two walked for a long time, but for some reason Chen Lu felt that time had passed in the blink of an eye. Liang Zhirou led her to a bus stop.

“I’m waiting for the bus here…” Liang Zhirou said softly, “It’ll be very close to home after I get off the bus.”

Chen Lu glanced at the time; the two of them had walked for more than ten minutes without much dawdling.

"Do you go through all this every day?" Chen Lu imagined it and felt like he was going to die of exhaustion.

"Houses in more remote areas are cheaper to rent."

"Then why don't you find a job near your house?"

"Even disregarding travel expenses, I can still earn an extra ten or twenty yuan here..."

After listening, Chen Lu nodded silently, as if the girl would answer any question he asked honestly.

It feels kind of magical.

"It must have been really tough."

Just as Chen Lu finished speaking, the bus pulled up, and with a "whoosh," the two doors slowly opened.

"Thank you..." Liang Zhirou turned her head and was about to speak when she saw Chen Lu put his index finger to his lips, as if to say 'shh'.

She then stepped into the bus under Chen Lu's smiling gaze.

The girl had barely sat down when she realized she was still wearing a coat, but the bus had already started moving.

She quickly stood up and tapped the car window anxiously.

"The clothes!! I'll return them to you!"

Chen Lu found it amusing to see the girl's voice getting louder when she got anxious, so he just smiled and waved his hand.

After the bus drove away, Chen Lu's smile suddenly froze as he realized what had happened.

How will she pay me back?

Even though Chen Lu's face was no longer reflected in the window, Liang Zhirou still stared blankly at the lower right corner of the window.

No one could have imagined that a thousand years later, there would still be a foolish girl trying to find her lost sword by marking the boat.

Another gust of cold wind blew by, and the girl shrank further inside her coat.

It's so heartwarming.

...

Without thinking twice, Chen Lu hailed a taxi and headed home.

Both he and Jiang Chao are locals, and they can choose not to go back to the dormitory every day if they want.

However, in order to maintain their father-son relationship, the two of them still spent more time in the dormitory.

"Master, Lijing Garden."

"Wow, it's that far?"

"I'm lost."
