Chen Lu followed his son the whole time and naturally saw this scene.
The answer to what to do now is obvious.
Some parents are beyond morally reprehensible; we must take strong measures against them.
After a long wait, the call was finally connected.
"Jiang Chao, are you fucking born?"
Before the other end could speak, Chen Lu immediately cursed.
Jiang Chao took a break to answer his call, only to be inexplicably berated by Chen Lu, leaving him completely bewildered.
But Chen Lu's emotions are usually very stable, so his sudden outburst of anger likely means something is really wrong.
"Are you out of your mind? Why are you cursing your father?" he asked, puzzled.
"Your daughter ran out by herself late at night and no one was taking care of her. What are you if not born into this world?"
Chen Lu held the phone receiver in one hand, yelling at him in a volume that wouldn't be heard on the other end, "It's only because my son happened to be there. What would you do if he were kidnapped by human traffickers! Or are you saying you're not afraid of being kidnapped because your dad is a bureau chief?"
"Holy crap!"
Jiang Chao stammered for a moment, "Wait here, I'll go back and get her right away!"
"Get out of here, this is my daughter now, I'm taking her home for dinner."
Jiang Chao was taken aback. After all these years of getting along, he immediately understood that Chen Lu meant there was no need to rush.
Before he could speak, Chen Lu asked again, "What's wrong with you two? You used to argue every day because you were both too busy, but now you're both busy together, right?"
"Oh, it'll be over soon. I'll tell you when I have time. I'm going to pick her up now."
"Let's talk about it after we finish eating."
After hanging up the phone, Chen Lu turned his gaze back to the two little kids.
He couldn't help but twitch the corners of his mouth, his feelings suddenly becoming somewhat complicated.
That brat is like he has built-in radar; every time he misses something, Chen Yunqi sees Jiang Nan.
...That's not important.
The most outrageous thing is, where did this kid get his skill at coaxing little girls?
He had just seen Jiang Nan secretly wiping away tears, but in the blink of an eye, he was chatting while swinging on the swing.
The entire Chen family lineage is known to be honest and upright!
After glancing at the time and calculating that Chen Yunqi would no longer suspect that he was following him, he slowly walked forward.
"Why did it take so long to buy salt? My parents were so worried." Master Chen has honed his acting skills for many years and has now reached a state of perfection.
Chen Yunqi was still teary-eyed with fear, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw him.
To be honest, not many kids are afraid of the dark, so Chen Lu was surprised that he could actually stay there.
This kid clearly takes after his mother; he has his own little stubbornness.
Turning to look at Jiang Nan, who was also shivering, I thought to myself, "Good heavens, you two are huddling together for warmth."
"If I go home, my sister will be left without anyone to take care of her," Chen Yunqi said in a childish and unclear voice.
"Foolish child, why don't you take her home? Didn't you already learn how to press the elevator button?"
"My sister said she's not going."
Chen Lu nodded slightly and reached out to lift Jiang Nan off the swing.
Chen Yunqi hadn't yet realized that girls are inherently two-faced, and he was too lazy to explain.
This little guy will understand when he suffers a loss in the future.
Chen Yunqi's girlfriend: I'm really not angry, you don't need to coax me.
Chen Yunqi: Okay.
Ten minutes later, girlfriend: You must not love me anymore, let's break up!
Chen Yunqi: I did love you...
Girlfriend: You're not even coming over to comfort me!
Chen Lu chuckled to himself, amused by his own fantasy.
Honey, if you don't understand this sooner, you'll have a long road ahead of you.
His wife is the best; she never does anything like that.
To tell if Liang Zhirou is angry or not, you only need to look at whether her cheeks are puffed up.
He never learned to get angry before, but now that he's been spoiled by him for so many years, if he really gets angry, he'll just bump his head against him, and he won't even use force.
"Godfather, I... I ran away from home..."
Jiang Nan tried to emphasize to Chen Lu that she was very professional—a runaway child should stay outside.
"Is there a rule that you can't go to your godfather's house if you run away from home?" Chen Lu asked softly.
Jiang Nan was a little confused, her little brain simply not knowing how to refute it.
"Take some time to learn from your sister. Don't be a foolish child. Even if you run away from home, don't wrong yourself."
This girl definitely inherited this trait from her father, Jiang Chao. She's honest and straightforward; if she runs away from home, she runs away from home, and she'd rather find a homeless person to scavenge for food with.
When he was a child, he would save up money in advance to run away from home, and he would never use it under normal circumstances.
Take them with you when they run away from home, find a place to eat snacks for half a day, do whatever makes you comfortable.
Then when they get home, Wang Xiaoxia will cry and say she'll never hit him again, as for whether she's telling the truth...
As mentioned earlier, women are often two-faced creatures.
Chen Lu grumbled about their stupidity, carrying one in his arms and holding the other's hand, as he walked under the streetlights surrounded by mosquitoes, casting three long shadows, before entering the gently lit stairwell.
It was the tail end of summer, and the night was still noisy. The chirping of insects came from the grass in the distance, which made the time seem incredibly peaceful.
"Dad, I bought the salt!" Chen Yunqi suddenly remembered what he was supposed to do and said incoherently.
"Great! Mom will be very happy later."
...
After dinner.
Liang Zhirou carried the plate to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Chen Lu saw the three children sitting on the floor playing with toy cars, gave each of them a small pudding, and then went to the kitchen to help.
