Chapter 51 I used to really want to marry you

Mo Yuqing walked to the door, pressed her fingerprint to open it, and saw a somewhat unfamiliar figure in the living room.

It was a middle-aged man wearing glasses, somewhat overweight, sitting on the sofa watching short videos.

This is her so-called stepfather, Lin Jingming.

In that instant, she suddenly felt somewhat depressed, and her already disappointed mood plummeted to rock bottom.

Mo Yuqing thought to herself that he was probably called by his mother to help her clean, hoping to bring the two of them closer together.

At first, Mo Yuqing was somewhat moved, until she later discovered the truth.

His mother probably never imagined that he would just call a cleaning lady over and then sit leisurely on the sofa looking at his phone.

It's always the same.

Then my mom will ask me why I don't get along with him.

However, Mo Yuqing no longer cared. She silently changed her shoes, went into her room, and slammed the door shut.

The other person didn't even look up, and seemed to have no intention of acknowledging her.

As soon as Mo Yuqing entered the room, she started rummaging through drawers and cabinets looking for things.

Soon the floor was covered with all sorts of strange and wonderful things, from old and childish-looking watercolor paintings, spinning tops, crystal balls, paintbrushes, Barbie dolls, to later love letters, sketches, paper roses, necklaces...

She even took the large teddy bear that was lying on the bed down with her.

After placing everything on the ground, Mo Yuqing looked at it and silently curled the corners of her lips.

These were all gifts from Chen Lu, birthday presents he gave her every year since she was a child. As the two of them grew older, the style of the gifts also changed.

From immaturity to maturity.

From being clueless to falling in love for the first time.

Both the watercolor painting and the sketch depict myself, but the skill level is vastly different.

The watercolor painting is less of a painting and more of a stick figure, with a round head, curved eyes and mouth, a blue trapezoid for a little skirt, and a yellow ball on top for the sun.

As she laughed, tears that seemed to have dried up at school started falling again, dripping onto the painting. She then quickly put the already yellowed painting aside.

She was stunned again.

"Too few..."

"One item is missing..."

She muttered to herself in a daze, and without even putting on her slippers, hurriedly opened the door and went to the living room.

"Where are my things?!" Mo Yuqing shouted anxiously.

Lin Jingming was taken aback, then looked up at her, and it was clear that he was suppressing his impatience.

"What is that?"

Mo Yuqing took a deep breath, trying her best to keep her emotions under control. "My things! The music box on the bedside table!"

She didn't want to argue with this man, lest she further disturb her mother's feelings.

But at the same time, she didn't want to be disturbed by them, which is why Mo Yuqing has been living alone for the past few years.

The man narrowed his eyes, finally remembering this. "I had the housekeeper throw it away this afternoon. Such childish things, how old are you?"

Mo Yuqing paused for a moment, "Who told you to throw it! That's mine! Did you even ask me?"

It was given to me by Chen Lu when I was twelve years old.

Lin Jingming flicked his cigarette ash and said helplessly, "You'll be starting your internship soon, so focus on what's important and be more mature."

Mo Yuqing, who was already angry, couldn't hold back any longer. "You're not my dad! Why are you so nosy?!"

"Why can't I interfere?"

The man stood up and yelled, but seeing that Mo Yuqing was still glaring at him coldly with tears in her eyes, he didn't want to make things too tense, so he picked up his phone and left.

"I'll just buy you another one. You can have as many of these cheap things as you want."

He said impatiently, then slammed the door shut.

Thunder continued to rumble outside the window, and streaks of lightning occasionally illuminated the dimly lit room, while the torrential rain grew heavier and heavier.

Mo Yuqing stood there like a statue, seemingly oblivious to the sound of the door closing.

She was quietly reminiscing about the past.

When Lin Jingming and her mother returned from abroad, they only bought a gift for her half-sister. She cried and told Chen Lu about it. The next day, Chen Lu gave her a music box.

The smile of that little boy remains vivid in my memory.

Chen Lu arrived at her house early that morning and was kept chatting by her mother and sister for a long time before he finally found a chance to run into his room.

Mo Yuqing, who was still sulking with red eyes from crying, had indescribable feelings when she saw Chen Lu.

Chen Lu dug her out from under the covers, and then, as if by magic, pulled the music box out of his clothes.

He put his finger to his lips and whispered, "Shh... Lin Qian doesn't have this. I'm only giving it to you. You mustn't tell her."

Come and see, it still makes a sound.

When Mo Yuqing came to her senses again, she was already standing downstairs.

A person stood alone in the heavy rain.

Large raindrops kept falling on her, and soon she was soaked, her originally thin clothes now feeling very heavy.

Many strands of hair were stuck to the sides of her face by the rain, so she just casually brushed them aside with her hand.

She looked up at the several trash cans in front of her, her gaze cold and her expression indifferent.

"That's why I hate thunderstorms."

......

I don't know how much time passed.

The cold rain that splashed on me turned hot, and steam filled the entire bathroom.
