Holy crap...
For a moment, Chen Lu's heart seemed to stop beating.
Liang Zhirou was also stunned. Although she hadn't been discovered yet, she no longer wanted to live on Earth.
As the lock cylinder turned with a click, the door to the house slowly opened.
Just as Chen Lu was thinking of a solution, Liang Zhirou gently tugged at his sleeve.
He turned his head and saw the girl with misty eyes, asking aggrievedly, "Where...where am I hiding?"
Chen Lu almost choked on his own saliva. How come this idiot's brain goes offline when he gets nervous?
Liang Zhirou looked at him anxiously, her heart pounding with panic. If her aunt saw this, she would rather be dead.
Even if Chen Lu forcibly dragged her here, from the aunt's perspective, wouldn't it still seem like she came to steal her son...?
"It's okay, don't panic. It's not like we've been hiding in the room doing something."
Chen Lu was speechless. He almost got confused when he saw how silly and nervous the guy looked.
"You stay in the room for now, I'll go check on the situation and then we'll talk."
After saying that, he slowly opened the door and walked into the living room as if nothing had happened.
Just then, the kettle of water he was boiling came to a boil, giving him an excuse to leave.
He slowly poured some hot water into the glass and looked up at the entryway.
Just as Wang Xiaoxia was about to bend down to change her shoes, Chen Lu quickly called out, "Mom, why are you back?"
Startled by the sudden sound, she rushed to slap him without even changing her shoes, "You've been staying at school all the time, and now you're sneaking back behind my back, huh? If you really don't want to see me, let's just go our separate ways!"
She grabbed Chen Lu by the ear, barely suppressing a laugh, and said irritably, "Still asking 'Why are you back?' Anyone who didn't know better would think you're home all the time."
"I was wrong! I was wrong!" Chen Lu quickly admitted his mistake, rubbing his ears. "I saw your post on WeChat Moments, and then you suddenly came back. I was worried that you two had a fight."
He looked at Wang Xiaoxia with a sincere expression, appearing calm on the surface, but actually he was panicking terribly.
Since he didn't bring Liang Zhirou out directly earlier, he now has no way out. He absolutely cannot let his mother find out that he's hiding a girl in his room.
After pulling Chen Lu's ear, Wang Xiaoxia walked triumphantly towards her room, saying, "You're not so bad after all, you still have some conscience."
"Don't worry, we didn't fight. I spilled milk tea on my clothes while watching the movie, so I changed my clothes when I got back."
Chen Lu picked up his water glass and blew on the steam. He only stopped drinking cola and drank hot water when he had a stomachache.
He couldn't help but complain, "How old are you to still be drinking milk tea?"
Wang Xiaoxia stopped and looked at him with a gentle smile.
"Xiao Lu, how old is your mother this year?"
Chen Lu was so startled that his hand trembled, and the hot water almost splashed onto his hand. "Mom, you're eighteen."
Wang Xiaoxia nodded with great satisfaction.
"If you say another dirty word, I'll kill you."
After saying that, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Chen Lu breathed a slight sigh of relief. Although he hadn't really done anything bad, he still felt incredibly excited.
Within two minutes, Wang Xiaoxia came out in a new dress, looking very young. When she and Chen Mo went shopping, people would believe her if she said she was Chen Mo's aunt.
Because she had never suffered any hardship, and Chen Guanglin and she had always had a very good relationship, even though her son was already twenty-one years old, she still looked like she hadn't aged at all.
They often go on trips together to enjoy time alone.
This is exactly what love looks like in Chen Lu's eyes.
Suffering seems to be the only nourishment for wrinkles; the more suffering one endures, the easier it is for time to leave its mark on one's face.
Liang Zhirou's mother is a prime example...
"Aren't you coming home for dinner tonight?" Chen Lu asked curiously.
"Order your own takeout, eat whatever you want, don't make yourself suffer," Wang Xiaoxia said as she changed her shoes, seemingly oblivious to the problem with her words.
"Can I go out to eat with you guys?"
Wang Xiaoxia refused without hesitation, "Go find your girlfriend to eat with. What are you doing here on May 20th?"
"If you provoke me again, I'll give you a grandson!"
"Keep it up. Don't come crying to me when some girl's parents break your legs." She finished speaking and closed the door.
Chen Lu breathed a deep sigh of relief. Fortunately, his mother hadn't noticed anything, nor had she noticed Liang Zhirou's shoes.
It was a false alarm.
But why does my heart feel a little sore?
My sister and I don't look like biological children. My parents are really kind people; they actually adopted two kids.
He got up and walked towards the bedroom, thinking to himself.
As soon as he opened the door, he found Liang Zhirou sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at him timidly.
After seeing him walk in, they moved a little further away.
Chen Lu found it strange; he never expected that this was because Liang Zhirou had heard him say, "Believe it or not, I'll give you a grandson."
He didn't pay much attention, walked over, drew the curtains, and adjusted the air conditioner to a comfortable temperature.
He glanced at the time, picked up his bag containing his laptop, and turned to go to the living room. "I'm going to the living room to continue researching. You go to sleep. Turn this door twice and it will lock, preventing anyone from getting in."
Seeing him clutching his stomach, Liang Zhirou asked softly, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Chen Lu didn't care at all. "It's nothing. My stomach hurts a little. I'll eat some biscuits to fill my stomach, and I'll feel better soon."
As he walked out and was about to close the door, he inexplicably felt a resistance.
