Chapter 85 Don't suffer from insomnia.

The words she had just spoken had exhausted all the courage Liang Zhirou had accumulated over the years. She could no longer say anything, and could only bury her face in Chen Lu's clothes, sobbing uncontrollably.

Time flies, leaving no trace.

So many years have passed, and it seems like everything has changed, yet it also seems like nothing has changed.

The little girl who used to hide in a corner of the park and cry secretly is still crying in front of that boy even after she grows up.

Unlike back then, she has grown up, and so has he.

Although the little girl still cries, she has become the sole pillar of the family, and the little boy has worked hard enough to be able to shoulder the girl's future.

"Little crybaby."

After a long silence, Chen Lu smiled and said, his tone full of doting and barely suppressed joy.

"Of course it's good, but why do you feel like you're a burden?"

Liang Zhirou seemed momentarily stunned, and after a while, she timidly said, "Because I'm useless, and I also have to take care of my mother..."

"These are not things you should be responsible for."

Chen Lu was stunned. What kind of amazing girlfriend is this?

"Can I turn around now?" he asked softly.

"No, no..."

Liang Zhirou thought to herself that she was crying like a little kitten, and if Chen Lu saw her, she would rather be dead.

Chen Lu shrugged helplessly, his hands fidgeting restlessly, seemingly doing something.

"Otherwise, why would I say you're simple-minded?"

"You're talking about me again..." Liang Zhirou said softly, her words full of grievance.

Although she still hadn't accepted reality, after hearing Chen Lu's agreement, she hugged him even tighter, pressing her cheek against his back.

Chen Lu sighed, continuing to fiddle with the things in his hands, and said earnestly, "I am capable of taking care of your future. If you want to be a burden, you are not heavy enough."

He was never worried that Liang Zhirou would be too ashamed or have an inferiority complex to accept his confession, because he had proven to himself that he had the ability.

His only worry was that Liang Zhirou didn't like him.

Now, the problem has been solved, because the answer is obvious—

She likes herself.

This silly guy must have mustered up a lot of courage to confess his feelings.

"No... those are all my own problems."

Liang Zhirou really didn't want Chen Lu to contribute a single penny to her family's affairs. Just as she was still hurriedly sticking to her little stubbornness, Chen Lu suddenly turned around.

Then, under the girl's bewildered gaze, he knelt down on one knee.

"Liang Zhirou, I like you, even more than you like me."

He held the ring, which he had just folded from the hotel receipt, in his hand, speaking gently.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

Chen Lu had a faint smile on his face, and his breath inevitably carried a hint of alcohol.

The paper ring he folded was his response to this silly girl's confession. He never expected that Liang Zhirou, who had been blushing all along, would be the one to confess first.

It's like you've always been in control of the ball, but in the end, Liang Zhirou shoots at your own goal.

How can I face people if a girl who usually doesn't dare to say more than a few words mustered up the courage to confess her feelings?

While Chen Lu's thoughts were racing, Liang Zhirou was still standing there, stunned.

At first, she could still make out the paper ring in Chen Lu's hand by the light of the street lamp in the distance, but now she can't see it at all.

Her vision was completely obscured by the mist, everything was blurry.

"I'm so tired."

After what seemed like an eternity, Chen Lu chuckled and said.

Liang Zhirou finally realized what was happening and quickly pulled Chen Lu up with both hands, responding softly with a sob in her voice:

"good."

Chen Lu gently took the girl's left hand and put the ring on her left middle finger.

"Tsk, it's a bit too big." Chen Lu was a little dissatisfied. "It's all your fault for not letting me hold your hand usually."

“...You rascal.” The girl’s eyes curved into a smile, and her dimples appeared as she laughed.

Tears never stopped flowing, and every now and then a few drops would slide down her delicate cheeks.

"You were just confessing your love to that hooligan," Chen Lu said smugly, holding the girl's left hand tightly with his left hand and wiping away her tears with his right.

Only then did he notice the bracelet on Liang Zhirou's wrist and asked curiously, "How did this end up with you?"

Upon hearing this, the girl sniffed, wiped away her tears, and her face was now filled with a joyful smile.

"Because it's mine."

"your?"

At first, Chen Lu thought he had mistaken someone else for someone else or had seen the same item, but it took him a few seconds to realize what was going on.

He cupped the girl's face in his hands, looking her up and down, "Is it really you?"

His memory of that little girl was so blurred that it couldn't be more blurred. He only remembered that she was cute, helpless yet strong, and made people feel sorry for her.

Everything matches up. Whether it's the ridiculous bubble machine avatar that this silly guy uses, or the same bracelet that was seen in Liang Zhirou's house, they all confirm this fact.

All of this combined should have prevented Chen Lu from guessing the truth, yet now it all seems so perfectly reasonable.

"It really is me." Liang Zhirou quickly wiped away the tears that were flowing again and raised the corners of her mouth slightly. "Thank you."

"Whether it was then or now, thank you."
