Chen Lu silently hung up the phone and looked up at the two girls chatting on the bed.
After finishing her IV drip, Liang Zhirou still had little appetite and only ate some biscuits.
Lin Miaomiao was different; she was happily munching on a bag of potato chips.
"If there's nothing else, I'll be going now. I'll come back tomorrow during the day," Chen Lu said softly as he stood up from the cot.
"Go on, go on, don't disturb my time with Zhirou." Lin Miaomiao raised her chin, looking quite smug.
Halfway through her sentence, she looked at Chen Lu again, blinking her eyes curiously, "Why do you look a little unhappy?"
Children should mind their own business.
"cut."
Chen Lu walked up to Liang Zhirou and poked her forehead. "Eat something a little later."
Seeing the girl nod, he smiled slightly.
Just then, a very anime-sounding ringtone suddenly rang out.
“se-no~”
Chen Lu looked at Lin Miaomiao with disdain, while the latter answered the phone without batting an eye.
"Hello, Mom. What's up?"
"......"
"Yes, I'm at school."
"......"
"What did you say? You and my dad came here? What are you two doing here?"
Lin Miaomiao froze, her mouth agape for a long time.
Although you can't hear what's being said on the phone, you can guess the gist of it from Lin Miaomiao's words and expressions.
"Why don't you guys find a hotel to stay at for the night? I'll leave campus tomorrow during the day to come find you; I have some things to take care of here..."
"I didn't stay in a hotel with any boys!!"
"You're leaving tomorrow? Okay, I'll come over..."
After hanging up the phone, Lin Miaomiao sighed deeply.
She looked up at Chen Lu and Liang Zhirou and said sadly, "My parents came to see me. If I don't go back, they'll suspect that I'm staying in a hotel with a boy."
"Why would your parents come all this way to the school to see you? Is it a surprise inspection?" Chen Lu didn't bother to understand the situation and complained first.
"What? Didn't I already say that I'm not in good health? They're probably just worried about me."
What illness do you have?
"roll!"
She scolded Chen Lu irritably, then hugged Liang Zhirou tightly and said, "I'm sorry, I really didn't expect this."
After saying that, she turned her face to look at Chen Lu.
"Zhirou, you must protect yourself. No matter what he says, don't fall for it, okay? If things get really bad, call a doctor!"

Why are you looking at me?
I am a gentleman, okay?
They haven't even asked me if I want to stay here, and they're already putting up with me. Is that polite?
Chen Lu kept a straight face, feeling utterly speechless.
Lin Miaomiao suddenly smiled, revealing her tiger teeth, "Just kidding. The organization trusts you a lot. I'll have to trouble you tonight."
Liang Zhirou kept glancing at him and then at her, completely bewildered as to how the two of them had suddenly completed the handover.
Then she remembered that she would be spending the whole night in the ward with Chen Lu, and she lowered her head nervously.
Now I can't possibly repay this favor...
What should I do...?
Lin Miaomiao left the large bag of snacks she had bought for Chen Lu, lingered there for a while, and then hurriedly left after being urged by her mother's second phone call.
"I'll say it again! I didn't stay in a hotel with a boy!"
As the ward door slammed shut, the room fell silent once more.
Chen Lu only now realized that he had to stay here to take care of Liang Zhirou.
Late at night, a man and a woman alone in a room...
It's kind of exciting.
Seeing Liang Zhirou nervously lowering her head and clenching her hands, Chen Lu said softly, "Don't be nervous, I'm a gentleman."
The girl nodded slightly. "I believe you."
"But I'm not as easy to talk to as Lin Miaomiao. Once you're in my hands, don't even think about resisting."
Upon hearing Chen Lu's words, Liang Zhirou was stunned. Wasn't he supposed to be a gentleman?!
How come they stopped acting after only two sentences...?
Liang Zhirou slowly leaned against the headboard, shrinking herself completely under the covers, only her eyes peeking out as she blinked at him.
Chen Lu found it amusing, but said seriously, "What I mean is that you have to eat your meal."
"I'll order a bowl of porridge and have it delivered later. You'll regret it if you don't eat it properly."
I wonder if this silly girl knows that her behavior only makes people want to bully her more.
Every day, they wear the words "I'm stupid, come and lie to me" on their faces. It's so frustrating.
Looking at Liang Zhirou's timid appearance, Chen Lu secretly complained to himself.
"I...I understand," Liang Zhirou answered honestly.
A little while later, just as Chen Lu was telling his roommate that he wouldn't be going home that night...
"Chen Lu..."
Liang Zhirou called out softly.
Chen Lu looked up at the girl's somewhat haggard face. "What's wrong?"
The girl hesitated for a moment, then finally mustered her courage and asked, "Shall we go back?"
"I...I don't want to stay in the hospital."
Chen Lu found it strange; surely it couldn't be that she didn't want to be with him and had kept it to herself until now.
Probably not. He wasn't particularly confident in himself, but he was certain that Liang Zhirou didn't dislike being with him.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to fall asleep so quickly in the pavilion.
He asked curiously, "Why?"
Liang Zhirou lowered her head, clutching the white blanket tightly with both hands. After a long while, she finally spoke, "I hate it here."
