Chapter 423 Mother

Liang Zhirou was called out to go shopping by Lin Miaomiao, while Chen Lu volunteered to stay home and take care of the two children.

He felt it was easier to watch the two little ones crawling around in the living room than to go shopping with the two girls.

When human babies are not crying or fussing, their faces and limbs are chubby, and their big, bright eyes blink constantly; just looking at them is very therapeutic.

They look just like two little angels.

Of course, when they cry in the middle of the night, Chun Chun is like two little devils.

Seeing Chen Yunqi about to put the car in his mouth again, he quickly went over to stop the other's foolish behavior.

“Foolish child, you’ve practically covered this car in your spittle.”

Chen Lu muttered as he got up, and suddenly felt a soreness in his lower back, so he quickly reached out and rubbed it a couple of times.

That silly girl tempts him every day, who could resist that?

Even though Liang Zhirou did nothing, the fact that this silly girl was lying next to him was disturbing his mind.

Chen Lu firmly believes he is innocent.

Although I am still a 24-year-old young man, I am in very good physical condition.

But lately, this nightly revelry...

Women are all enchantresses.

Especially married women.

Chen Lu had never believed it before, but now he was completely convinced.

This is very infuriating.

Why do men have to exert themselves and get hurt, while women are completely unaffected?

Chen Lu suddenly suspected that his father's habit of staying up late to watch TV might not be a cover-up. Every time he entered the living room, he would see Chen Guanglin with his eyes closed, and he would wake up suddenly when he turned off the TV.

...Maybe they just don't want to go inside.

Halfway through his thought, he opened his phone again and silently ordered a can of goji berries.

It's important to start taking care of your health early; you should begin exercising more now.

Master Chen never fights a battle he is unprepared for.

He didn't want to be in his thirties and have to listen to Liang Zhirou coax him into the house. Right now, he could still get Liang Zhirou to beg him to rest halfway through a run, but everything has its ups and downs, and who knows what the future holds.

So Chen Lu bought two more cans.

I didn't expect this stuff to be cheaper than I thought. Three cans together cost less than 100 yuan, and shipping was free.

I had just placed the order when I heard the door open from the entryway.

"You've been shopping outside for ages, how come you haven't bought a single piece of clothing?"

Seeing that Liang Zhirou had returned almost empty-handed, Chen Lu couldn't help but ask.

"Because I'm just going shopping," the girl tilted her head and said matter-of-factly.

"Going shopping is just about buying clothes."

"I'm just going to look around; buying clothes costs money."

Chen Lu frowned helplessly. This silly guy is someone who charges 30,000 to 50,000 for a single character illustration, yet he's still so frugal every day.

Liang Zhirou felt much better after going out for a walk. Just as she was about to sit down next to Chen Lu to rest for a while, she suddenly saw the payment page on his phone.

After a moment of stunned silence, the girl blushed slightly and quickly turned her face away, casually tucking a few stray hairs behind her ear.

"I brought you some hand-peeled grapes."

Seeing Chen Lu looking at her as if she were the one who started it all, Liang Zhirou shoved another unopened cup of fruit tea into his hand, trying to shut him up.

"What else is in your bag?" Chen Lu asked, sipping his fruit tea and glancing at the plastic bag, where he could vaguely see something else inside.

Then Liang Zhirou pulled out an alphabet chart that she often saw when she was a child, the kind that was pasted on the wall.

If it weren't for this silly guy buying it, Chen Lu would have thought that this thing had disappeared like the green tongue popsicle.

"There's also a phonetic alphabet chart."

"Did you buy it too early?"

"It's good to prepare in advance, since we'll have to buy them to teach the kids sooner or later anyway," Liang Zhirou said with a light smile.

When she was very young, her parents put this on the wall. When the children had nothing to do, they would often glance at it unintentionally, so it was still somewhat useful.

[m, f, d, t]

Chen Lu looked at the initials and pondered for a long time, but couldn't pronounce any of them.

After learning English, I stopped reading pinyin and subconsciously read it as English letters.

Although he can spell out unfamiliar characters by reading pinyin, he really can't pronounce a single syllable.

The two college graduates sat on the sofa for a long time studying the initials and finals. After a while, Chen Muxue, who had been quiet all along, suddenly crawled over and touched Liang Zhirou's calf with her little hand.

Liang Zhirou quickly picked her up and kissed her.

Do you miss your mom?

Chen Muxue's eyes were round and she nodded her chin almost imperceptibly.

Even though it might be her imagination, Liang Zhirou was both surprised and delighted as she hugged her and continued, "Then can you call me 'Mommy'? Ma~ Ma~"

Chen Muxue bit her finger blankly, looking like she didn't understand.

As summer drew to a close, Liang Zhirou no longer felt the same joy she had shown when she saw her two children; a subtle sadness crept into her eyes.

"Both babies are ten months old and still can't say 'Mama,' could they be like me?"

Chen Lu was speechless. Liang Zhirou would worry unnecessarily whenever she saw the child acting silly. "Why does it always seem like the child takes after you? Isn't it normal for a ten-month-old not to say 'Mama'?"

"But Liu Yan said that Xiao Jiangnan could say 'daddy' and 'mommy' when she was six months old, and I think the latest other kids were around seven or eight months old..."

Chen Lu pondered for a moment, "Logically speaking, a baby should be able to say it around one year old, and then they won't say it anymore."

Seeing that Liang Zhirou was still in a daze, he continued:

"I guess I'm just lazy and don't want to talk. My mom once said that when I was little, she was worried every day that I couldn't walk. Then one day she saw me go and grab a toy car, and she realized that I was just too lazy to walk."
