Chapter 275 is really pathetic.

"Milk......"

Liang Zhirou uttered the last word in a daze, not even bothering to pick up the book from the ground, and quickly reached out to cup Chen Lu's cheeks.

He was soaking wet, his lips were purple from the cold, and his face looked visibly haggard under the hallway lights.

What's wrong with you?

She is now fully awake.

Chen Lu gently stroked her hand, closed the door, and walked into the entryway. "It's alright."

He had guessed that Liang Zhirou would be worried, but if he ran home to change his clothes first, he would be interrogated by his mother. After much deliberation, he decided to come back directly.

After all, if Wang Xiaoxia heard about this, she would first give him a thumbs up and praise him, and then hang him up and give him a good beating, saying that if he dared to do this again, she would break his legs.

Of course, it's also possible that they might not praise him, but instead fast forward to the scene where he's hung up and beaten.

"I'm not stupid..."

Liang Zhirou muttered softly. Hearing Chen Lu's words, her heart, which had been clenched since earlier, finally relaxed a little.

"I'm going to take a shower first, I'll tell you slowly later."

Chen Lu ran into the bathroom, then poked his head out again, "Get me some clean clothes."

......

After taking a hot shower, the lingering chill on his body finally dissipated considerably. Chen Lu was about to send a message to ask Li Sinian what was going on when he checked his pockets and found nothing.

Besides the keys that were originally in his coat, his phone, earphones, power bank, and a whole bunch of other random things had all disappeared.

They've probably all sunk into the water.

Now look what's happened! I've lost two phones in Binjiang, and even the location isn't that far off!

Chen Lu covered his face and sighed.

Let them keep each other company at the bottom of the river...

When he looked up, Liang Zhirou was indeed sitting motionless on the sofa, quietly watching him, her clear and beautiful eyes seemed to be shimmering with water.

The silly boy's worry and anxiety were written all over his face, but he still bit his lower lip and forced himself not to ask.

Chen Lu smiled and sat down beside her, gathering his thoughts before slowly explaining:

"Well, tonight I was having dinner with Jiang Chao and the others by the river, right where my phone fell into the water. Then, just as we were finishing our meal, someone suddenly jumped into the river. I saw that no one was moving around and the ambulance wouldn't be able to get there anytime soon, so I got a little anxious."

"After all, it's freezing cold, and anyone who falls into the water won't struggle for long... Li Sinian went down to rescue him, I went down to rescue him."

"You wouldn't believe it, I told him to raise his hands and stay still if he wanted to live, and he raised his hands like he was surrendering, which made me laugh so hard I choked on my water. I bet even the people who do this kind of thing have never seen someone so cooperative."

"You don't need to idolize me, I'm a pretty low-key person."

He tried to use a nonchalant tone, as if he were talking about something trivial, so that he neither hid anything from Liang Zhirou nor made her react too strongly.

In such matters, only strangers will lavish praise on others for sacrificing their lives for righteousness; those close to them will always feel fear and worry.

Just as he had expected, Liang Zhirou didn't seem particularly excited or intrigued by what he heard.

His expression grew increasingly gloomy as he listened.

"You went downstairs?" Liang Zhirou pursed her lips and asked softly.

After she finished speaking, she glanced at the water stains that Chen Lu had brought all the way to the bathroom after entering the room, and then lowered her head again.

Chen Lu had never heard such an indescribable tone from Liang Zhirou before. He hesitated for a moment, then nodded his chin. "Ah...yes."

"People will die."

"I'm fine..."

"People will die."

Before he could finish speaking, Liang Zhirou repeated herself, interrupting him, though this time her voice trembled slightly.

Just as Chen Lu was about to pat the girl on the shoulder, Liang Zhirou looked up and met his gaze. Her eyes were already slightly red, and she no longer seemed sleepy.

"Even if you don't care what I would do without you, you should at least think about Xiao Mo, and your aunt and uncle..."

"I was wrong." He paused for a moment, then said directly.

Liang Zhirou didn't speak, but turned her head to look elsewhere, her long and smooth hair falling down, making it impossible to see her expression.

All Chen Lu could see was a single, glistening tear that slowly slid down her cheek to her chin, lingered there for a moment, and then fell with a soft thud.

As it landed on Liang Zhirou's clothes, it was like a pebble, stirring up ripples in his heart that lingered for a long time.

Chen Lu had always known that there were no couples in the world who didn't have conflicts, but he never expected that the first time he made Liang Zhirou cry would be because of something like this.

“I really had you on my mind beforehand, I swear,” he said gently.

Liang Zhirou sniffed. "I told you before, no matter whether you're lying to me or not, you're not allowed to swear an oath."

Just as he was about to take the girl's hand, Liang Zhirou suddenly stood up, turned around, and went to the bedroom.

Then he slammed the door shut.

Chen Lu was stunned for a moment, then quickly walked to the bedroom door.

He had mixed feelings, and he was even vaguely happy that this silly boy had finally learned to throw a tantrum.

Saying it's something to celebrate is a bit of an exaggeration, but it's a good thing nonetheless.

He took two deep breaths before pressing the handle firmly.

This was the first time he and Liang Zhirou had a disagreement, so he had to make the best of it.

The door wasn't locked; it opened with a gentle push.

The bedroom was dark, with the lights off. Liang Zhirou was lying on her side on the bed, completely tucked under the covers, wiping away tears with the back of her hand every now and then.
