"Do you think those two can argue?" Jiang Chao couldn't help but chuckle. "They're just going back to stay for a while."
After he finished speaking, he waved to the waiter in the distance, calling him over to order.
The group had agreed on this back in college: whoever was treating would order the food. Li Sinian didn't stand on ceremony with Jiang Chao, and took the menu to look at it.
"No yin-yang hot pot, how about a butter hot pot? Then three plates of sliced beef, one plate of pork belly, tripe and baby bok choy..."
After ordering a bunch of things, he added, "Give me another dozen Snowflakes."
Actually, you should drink baijiu (Chinese liquor) when eating hot pot; beer is too strong.
But now it's just the two of us... let's just have some beer to tide us over.
“You drink it yourself, I can’t drink it,” Jiang Chao said suddenly, putting down his phone.
"Never mind then, just get a bottle of large-sized fruit juice."
The waiter took the menu and left. Li Sinian scratched his head and looked at him incredulously.
"You've given up alcohol too?"
Li Sinian's gaze was somewhat vacant.
You know, Jiang Chao made all sorts of vows to quit smoking when he was in college, but he still couldn't quit.
His smoking and drinking addictions were greater than all the other people in his dorm combined.
Now he doesn't smoke or drink, and he's like a completely different person.
Jiang Chao waved his hand, "I can't drink. My wife at home is heavily pregnant, and she throws up as soon as she smells alcohol."
When I was only two months pregnant, I would often sneak ice cream in front of the refrigerator late at night. Now, more than four months later, I have difficulty walking even a few steps.
Being pregnant is really tough.
She should be giving birth soon.
Li Sinian muttered to himself, mentally calculating the dates.
"My due date is in January," Jiang Chao replied.
I had originally planned to take advantage of my mother's visit to go out for a meal and relax.
That damn bastard always brings up the most sensitive topics, making him increasingly anxious. It's already September, and in a few months he'll really be a father.
The price I paid for being a fool that day was becoming a father at only twenty-four.
He then opened his phone's photo album, flipped through the photos he had taken, and handed them to Li Sinian, saying, "Look, I've bought all the clothes and toys."
Li Sinian swiped across the screen, carefully scrolling through the images for a while. Seeing that most of the clothes were pink, he suddenly asked, "Are you sure they're girls?"
"I don't know?"
"Then why do you buy so many girls' clothes!"
Jiang Chao quickly scooped out all the overcooked meat and casually remarked, "The girl's clothes are cute, all pink and tender."
"If it's a son, you'll have to wait for him to take off your oxygen tank." Li Sinian was speechless.
"Kids don't remember things. Do you remember what clothes you wore when you were a few months old?"
Li Sinian pondered for a while, and it seemed that this was indeed the case.
"And actually, I bought some of these things months ago."
Jiang Chao gave another wry smile as he spoke:
“Although I told Liu Yan that I wanted to have the baby, I wasn’t really ready to take on that responsibility. One day, I was just browsing around and came across a baby store. When I saw the clothes and toys, tears just started streaming down my face for no reason.”
His anticipation for this new life ultimately outweighed all his anxieties.
Li Sinian picked up the orange juice with pulp from the table, filled Jiang Chao's glass, and raised his glass, saying, "Cheers!"
The two grown men brazenly picked up their glasses of juice and drank them down in one gulp.
Li Sinian put down his wine glass and suddenly laughed, "Chen Lu will definitely get married within the next two years. If your child is really a daughter, she won't be much younger than his child. You might actually catch up with her."
Jiang Chao's previously somewhat moved expression suddenly turned cold.
"...Stop talking."
