Chapter 471 A Lifetime of Pampering

"Is there?"

Chen Lu was stunned. Since his two children went through puberty, he, as their father, rarely asked about anything. He usually waited for the two children to take the initiative to communicate with him.

“Hmm.” Liang Zhirou nodded gently. “Recently, he has been locking himself in his room to study whenever he gets home. Several times when I got up in the middle of the night, there was light coming through the crack in his door.”

This child has always done very little homework since he was little... Now that he's suddenly working so hard, she feels more heartache than relief.

"I told you that having Jiang Nan as a tutor would definitely be effective, right?" Chen Lu said smugly. Forget about getting a top tutor, even putting a gun to the back of this kid's head wouldn't have such a good effect.

"You even scheme against your own child."

Liang Zhirou gently poked his head with her index finger, wondering why this person was so sly and mischievous.

"How dare you say that to me? I've noticed you're getting worse and worse, you silly goose."

Chen Lu couldn't help but complain, then sighed softly, unable to express his true feelings.

Aside from the shame of Master Chen's disgrace, I was actually a little moved.

Okay, more than just a little.

If it weren't for today's mistake, this simpleton would definitely have continued to play along with him, and might even have patiently coaxed him for the rest of his life.

"I didn't..."

Liang Zhirou hugged him from behind and said in a wronged tone.

Seeing that the water and hot oil were almost boiling, Chen Lu gently pushed Liang Zhirou back before pouring in the chopped seasonings one by one. The messy seasonings fell into the boiling water, creating a few scalding splashes.

Hot oil splashed all over my body and it hurt terribly, but that silly guy kept coming closer.

"You still say you didn't? You almost never lied before, and even if you did, you couldn't fool me." Chen Lu paused for a moment, then couldn't help but raise the corners of his mouth. "But look at that admiring gaze, you've been deceiving me for over a decade."

Although I hate to admit it, Liang Zhirou's acting skills really fooled him. This was the first time in almost twenty years of being together.

Liang Zhirou pressed her forehead against his back, her voice tense and tinged with shyness: "That's because I didn't lie to you at all..."

Chen Lu turned around curiously and saw the girl looking up at him with her clear and beautiful eyes.

His eyes were looking exactly the same as they had just been, filled with doting and adoring affection.

Married for so long, this silly girl is no longer the little girl who would blush at just one glance, but her affectionate gaze has never changed.

The two stared at each other silently for a moment, and then Liang Zhirou suddenly smiled.

"I never said I admired you because you caught a fish."

She reached out and gently cupped Chen Lu's cheeks, asking him very seriously:

"I...I admire my husband, is there a problem with that?"

Chen Lu remained silent for a long time, then quickly turned his face away and took a few deep breaths.

Unfortunately, even after recalling all the sad things in his life, he still couldn't suppress the urge to smile.

It's even harder to compress than an AK.

In the living room, Chen Muxue caught a glimpse of the kitchen door slowly closing out of the corner of her eye. She couldn't help but let out a soft snort in her heart before lowering her head to continue sending messages to Xiao Xunfang.

Both her maternal and paternal grandmothers were easy to please; after a little coaxing and pleading, Xiao Xunfang agreed to tell her about Liang Zhirou's past.

Actually, she wasn't that interested in finding out at first, but the more her parents kept quiet, the more curious she became.

So this question remained in her heart for several years—

What kind of past did her incredibly beautiful mother, who paints like a bohemian artist, have?

After a long while.

Chen Muxue took off her headphones expressionlessly, momentarily finding it difficult to breathe.

She's been too fortunate growing up; she actually has so much free time that she'd even bother to inquire about these things.

Her mother was right; even if she inquired about these things, it would only upset her. She considered herself quite smart, but while she had a million ways to help her mother vent her anger, she couldn't go back to the past.

Chen Muxue felt a tightness in her chest.

Shifting my gaze back to the kitchen, I saw Liang Zhirou looking at Chen Lu with her head turned to the side, and her mother chatting and laughing with a gentle smile.

She felt somewhat relieved.

These past experiences had such a minor impact on Liang Zhirou that she, as her daughter, had never noticed them growing up. If she hadn't dug deep into the matter today, she probably would never have imagined it in her entire life.

I have to admit, my dad is pretty amazing... both as a husband and as a father.

Chen Lu brought the cooked fish to the table and suddenly saw Chen Muxue squinting at him.

"Dad, if I get into Tsinghua or Peking University, will you be overjoyed?" Chen Muxue asked curiously, resting her chin on her hands.

Chen Lu chuckled, "Anyway, your mom will be overjoyed."

After a moment of hesitation, he added, "Try to snatch the title of the family's highest college entrance exam score from your mother. I've put up with her for many years."

"I never made fun of you about this."

Liang Zhirou walked over, muttering to herself, and leaned down to kiss her daughter on the cheek. "It doesn't matter where you go for the exam, as long as you're happy every day, I'll be happy."

Chen Muxue looked up at her with a smile.

"Go call your brother for dinner," Chen Lu suddenly said.

"oh."

Seeing Chen Muxue push the door open and go in, Chen Lu turned his gaze to Liang Zhirou and silently poked his cheek.

Liang Zhirou: "..."

Seeing Chen Lu's expression that seemed to say, "If you don't kiss me, I'll kiss you," she had no choice but to tiptoe and give Chen Lu a light peck on the cheek.

Just as she expected, Chen Lu pointed to the other cheek, indicating that he wanted one more.

Since they weren't in the bedroom, she refused to give in. Just as she was about to slip away, Chen Lu suddenly grabbed both her hands with one hand, raised them above her head, and pressed her against the wall.
