The reason I didn't listen to you this time is because...
I want that time to come soon.
After chatting for a few more minutes, Chen Lu sent Liang Zhirou to bed, and then fell asleep as soon as he closed his eyes.
The experience of that night was so peaceful that it will likely remain vivid in their minds for many years to come.
......
A few days later, one afternoon.
After class, Chen Lu stared into thought as he looked at Liang Zhirou's long-unanswered messages.
He recalled the messages he saw in the part-time job group when he was in the hospital.
Go check out the express delivery station.
He thought to himself as he slowly walked out of the classroom.
Sure enough, Chen Lu saw Liang Zhirou busy in front of a courier station.
He stood at a distance and watched silently, once again suppressing the urge to force her to go back and rest.
Just like back in the mall, he called Liang Zhirou again.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Liang Zhirou asked softly.
Chen Lu paused for a moment, suddenly unsure of what to say.
The girl didn't urge him, but waited quietly. For a moment, the only sound on the phone was the steady breathing of the two people.
After a few breaths, he slowly spoke: "You're just starting to feel better, so make sure you get plenty of rest."
"Yes, I understand."
"Then I'll hang up."
"Huh? Okay..." The girl was clearly a little confused and could only agree blankly.
I had absolutely no idea why Chen Lu suddenly made that call.
It was only then that Chen Lu realized that she would always hold the phone tightly to her ear and only reluctantly remove it after the phone had rung several times to signal the end.
Liang Zhirou rested on the table for a while before standing up, rubbing her neck, and continuing to work listlessly.
He called Li Sinian again.
"Li Sinian, how much do you earn per month working part-time at this school's rest stop?"
How would I know?
"Of course I know you don't know, that's why I sent you to ask."
"Damn it, okay, I'll ask."
Two minutes later, Li Sinian sent him a WeChat message.
1400.
This is the monthly salary of a college student from our university working part-time here.
It would take her almost a whole year to buy that Sony SLR camera in her shopping cart.
What would you do if a girl went to this lengths for you?
Chen Lu asked himself this question.
The answer came quickly.
He kept the phone to his ear, his gaze fixed firmly on the girl in the distance, listening to the regular beeping sound.
Before the person on the other end of the phone could speak, he interrupted:
"Boss, come with me to do something big."
"Yes, I agree."
