"Be gentle! Be gentle..."
Is this thing really that valuable?
Chen Lu, holding a fan that was almost as tall as a person, said speechlessly.
He put the fan away, stretched his arms, and let out a long sigh.
As expected, times are constantly changing. This old-fashioned fan, like the TVs and computers of years past, is ridiculously heavy.
Liang Zhirou pursed her lips. "The main problem is that this fan is very cheap and has been used for a long time. I'm afraid it will break down."
This fan was specially brought over by Liang Zhirou on her electric scooter from the house Chen Lu bought for her.
She bought this secondhand fan for over twenty yuan during her freshman year of college, and has kept it in her rented room ever since.
It did break down a few times during that time, but Liang Zhirou fixed it and it still worked fine. Although it had a lot of minor problems, it was never completely unusable.
Okay, she admits she's not smart enough to fix appliances... she just slapped it twice.
But this also shows that the fan really did its best! She has a lot of affection for this fan.
Upon seeing the fan, Chen Lu was clearly reminded of the first rented room Liang Zhirou lived in, and suddenly said softly, "Speaking of which, it seems that place was demolished."
He passed by there a few days ago and found that the area had been almost completely demolished, and he had no idea what was going to be built on top of it.
He chuckled again after saying that, "It just so happens that they stopped demolishing the house you used to rent. That disgusting landlord is probably so angry he can't sleep."
Evil people will be punished by Heaven.
Liang Zhirou blinked blankly, "Will there be a lot of money from the demolition compensation?"
"Rounding it up is about the same, it's like winning the lottery anyway. My childhood dream was that my house would be demolished and redeveloped," Chen Lu explained casually. "But it never got demolished, so I had to come out and earn money on my own."
"If Miaomiao were here, she would definitely say you're in Versailles."
The two chatted casually as usual, as if nothing had happened.
After all, marriage isn't something you can just propose on a whim, not to mention that Liang Zhirou's birthday is in October, and it's only June now.
Life will continue as usual until that day comes.
So while living normal lives together, both of them secretly harbored plans to propose, and they would never tell the other person.
Every day I try my best to act like I'm not hiding anything.
Perhaps this is also a form of sleeping in the same bed but dreaming different dreams.
"Is that okay? If you're still worried, I'll get something to measure the radiation level in this room." After setting up the fan, Chen Lu joked on purpose.
This silly goose always has so many worries.
Liang Zhirou gently wiped the sweat from Chen Lu's forehead with a tissue. "The rest is just cleaning the room again. I can do it myself. You go and rest."
It was evening, and the two were hurriedly tidying up the room where Chen Lu used to live.
It's not that they're having a fight and want to separate, but rather that a national treasure is coming today.
Even without traffic, it takes at least half an hour to drive from my home to Chen Mo's test center, while it only takes a few minutes to walk there from my rented apartment.
Even sleeping an extra half hour is an advantage.
Since Chen Mo brought it up, Chen Guanglin and Wang Xiaoxia had no reason to refuse, and so the matter was settled.
During the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao), Chen Mo, this national treasure giant panda, was specially cared for by Chen Lu.
Chen Lu felt incredibly proud, which meant he was now the pillar of the Chen family.
I just don't know why Wang Xiaoxia and Chen Guanglin always told Liang Zhirou what they were told.
Seeing Liang Zhirou wiping the fan blades with a rag, Chen Lu couldn't help but complain, "She went to all this way to bring a fan over because she was worried that Chen Mo would catch a cold from the air conditioning. How can my sister have such a good sister-in-law?"
He was shocked when he saw Liang Zhirou come in, drenched in sweat and carrying a fan.
"You're taking advantage of me again... It's like I'm already your wife." Liang Zhirou puffed out her cheeks symbolically.
At first, she was a little resistant to the idea of being Chen Mo's sister-in-law, but now she felt a little happy about it for some reason.
"It's bound to happen sooner or later, what are you going to do about it?"
Chen Lu said dismissively, thinking to himself, "I've already put my marriage proposal on the agenda, and you don't feel anything at all in the warm water?"
Liang Zhirou soaked the rag in the basin of water and turned her face away, ignoring his comment.
"Next time you carry something this heavy, remember to tell me beforehand so I can come downstairs and help you, okay?"
Chen Lu continued to put on a 'fierce' expression. He had brought this up more than once or twice, but this silly guy acted as if he hadn't heard him and still carried heavy things up by hand every time.
"I'm afraid you'll get too tired..." the girl muttered softly, but still nodded obediently in agreement.
Chen Lu couldn't bear to sit quietly and watch this simpleton bustling about, so he simply squatted down and helped with the tidying up.
Sigh, I could have bought a brand new fan for just a few dozen yuan, but I had to spend so much time tinkering with it.
I wonder how old my child will be before they realize that our family is actually quite wealthy.
After a long while, the sky gradually darkened, and the fiery red sunset hung in the sky, only half of its body showing. Night slowly fell, gradually enveloping the entire city of Hangzhou.
Looking at the lights coming on in the building next door, Chen Lu looked up again. Liang Zhirou was still diligently washing the fan blades in front of him, a few strands of hair stuck to her pretty face with sweat, but the girl seemed oblivious.
He reached out and tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear, giving a slight smile.
Ultimately, there is a difference between his level of attentiveness and Liang Zhirou's.
He delivered milk and fruit to the neighbors, reminding them to keep an eye on the children for the next few days and try not to let them make too much noise at night—after all, this is an old neighborhood with many elderly people helping their children take care of their kids.
