Chapter 133 The Life I Yearn For

Dinner was stir-fried shredded potatoes with green peppers and cola chicken wings.

The food in the refrigerator was all bought by Liang Zhirou for Chen Lu beforehand. She just didn't expect that Chen Lu would never cook a single meal at home, and that he would still order takeout even though there was so much food in the refrigerator.

If it weren't for the fact that it's too far to travel back and forth from home, she would have liked to come and cook for Chen Lu every day.

I always feel that takeout isn't as healthy as cooking at home...

"I don't know if it's because of the rain, but I'm a little sleepy," Liang Zhirou said, rubbing her eyes as she served Chen Lu his meal.

Chen Lu was only slightly awake at this point. "I heard that this is something etched into human genes. One explanation is that back then, people couldn't hunt or farm on rainy days, so they could only stay at home and sleep in. Gradually, they all developed this habit."

Liang Zhirou took a bite of the chicken wing Chen Lu had put on his plate and asked curiously, "What do they do at home? Do they do what we do?"

Although she doesn't often look at her phone, she still feels that people in ancient times seem to be very bored every day.

“Maybe they’ll even have more children,” Chen Lu said frankly. “Why do you think people in ancient times had so many children? Besides the high rate of infant mortality, it was because they had too much free time.”

Liang Zhirou blushed slightly and didn't say anything. She regretted asking the question a little and silently picked up some food and brought it to Chen Lu's mouth.

Eat up, eat up, stop talking...

"My girlfriend is a really good cook," he praised with a light laugh.

"You'll get tired of it sooner or later..."

"No way, I can love you the same way I love you for a lifetime."

Liang Zhirou pretended to pick up her bowl to eat, then secretly chuckled behind her back.

The house was quiet, with only the occasional soft chatter between the two. The girl would always ask some childish yet adorable questions, which Chen Lu would patiently answer.

The thought that such days might become the norm in the future filled Chen Lu with only one thought—I will be so damn happy in the future.

Before this, I never imagined that anyone would envy my future self.

After dinner, Chen Lu took over the task of washing the dishes. Seeing that the rain showed no signs of letting up, Liang Zhirou nervously dialed Xiao Xunfang's number.

“Hey…” She stood in front of the balcony, clutching the hem of her clothes tightly, her voice lacking confidence.

A familiar voice came through the microphone: "Ni'er, what's wrong?"

"Mom, I... I can't go back..."

Because she initially focused on the wrong point, she had to spend a lot of effort to explain things clearly later.

Strangely, Xiao Xunfang didn't seem as worried as she had imagined.

I don't know whether to believe her or Chen Lu.

Liang Zhirou sighed with curiosity and doubt. She felt like she was right in the tiger's mouth, but her mother wasn't worried at all.

The girl quietly ran to the kitchen door and peeked out to look at Chen Lu's serious and upright back.

So be it, let such a handsome and gentle tiger eat you.

"You can go take a shower first," Chen Lu suddenly said.

Liang Zhirou was startled. "How did you know I was here?"

Chen Lu turned the water flow down a bit to avoid the noise affecting their conversation, "because we're on the same wavelength."

The girl scoffed, "I don't believe it."

"Because I love you," Chen Lu said, rephrasing his statement.

Liang Zhirou was both intrigued and increasingly curious. "How did you know that?"

"Idiot." Chen Lu was speechless after realizing he had just flirted with someone for nothing. "After you hung up the phone, there was no sound, not even a sound of footsteps. You couldn't possibly be standing on the balcony watching the rain, could you? You could only have come to see me secretly."

"Is it because I love you? Otherwise, why would I pay so much attention to what you're doing?"

Liang Zhirou smiled slightly, stepped forward and hugged Chen Lu from behind, "The thought that this might be our future life makes me so happy."

"Then you can live here every day from now on."

Chen Lu had barely finished speaking when the girl bumped his head against him.

"Why are you still watching? If you go take a shower now, the chances of me sneaking over to peek later are smaller. After all, I'm busy." He urged.

"I don't have any clothes to change into..." Liang Zhirou said timidly.

Girls are such a hassle.

Chen Lu thought to himself, then said softly, "You can wear mine. Go to my room and find one."

"Okay." Liang Zhirou gently poked Chen Lu's waist. "I'll hit you if you peek."

Is there any way you can lock the door?

"...Oh, right."

After Chen Lu finished washing the dishes, he sat in the living room for a while. The girl, like a crab, slowly shuffled out of the bathroom.

She was wearing Chen Lu's T-shirt and shorts. The white T-shirt was a bit too big on her, and the hem of the shirt almost covered the shorts. At first glance, it looked like she was only wearing a T-shirt.

Beneath the T-shirt were two gleaming legs.

"Why do you only have shorts?" Liang Zhirou complained, her voice trembling.

Chen Lu scratched his head. "Because I basically never wear shorts, and the long ones haven't even been washed yet. You probably saw them in the bathroom."

Liang Zhirou wandered around, and when she realized there was nowhere to hide, she had no choice but to steel herself and walk over to Chen Lu, sitting down on the sofa with him.

Just as Chen Lu was about to get up, the girl pulled him back forcefully.

"What's wrong?" he asked curiously.

"Go later."

Why?

Liang Zhirou was a little embarrassed, "It's a bit strange that you came in right after I finished showering..."

Chen Lu sighed with a wry smile and sat down again, while simultaneously focusing his gaze on the computer screen and controlling the recoil of the AK with a 4x scope.
