He went into the company early in the morning and didn't come out until after nine o'clock at night. He took Liang Zhirou, who was tutoring Chen Mo, home before he had time to go out for dinner.
When he arrived, Jiang Chao and Li Sinian had already been there for a while. The two of them looked at him with displeasure.
The reason this guy was late was that he was escorting his girlfriend.
"Stop glaring, it's my treat today." Chen Lu walked to the table and slowly sat down, picked up a skewer of meat and took a bite. "It's past the time for barbecue, and you guys still want to eat this stuff."
This is how we've been eating together for the past few years of university; there aren't many strange rules when we eat together.
Jiang Chao chose a barbecue restaurant located by the river. Their seats were right by the river, separated only by a wooden fence.
There are no mosquitoes at this time of year, and the shimmering river brings a rare sense of tranquility.
Aside from being a bit cold, it has no downsides.
In summer, people either complain about the heat or the mosquitoes when eating barbecue. But now that it's not hot and there are no mosquitoes, they feel that the barbecue lacks the warmth and doesn't feel right.
Chen Lu suddenly felt a bit pathetic.
"Why don't you just let your girlfriend take a taxi home by herself?" Jiang Chao complained, speechless. He was almost full from eating peanuts all this time.

After swallowing what was in his mouth, Chen Lu continued, "She still hasn't recovered from watching the scary video Lin Miaomiao posted."
The food on the table had just been served and was still steaming, clearly indicating that the two people knew they were about to arrive before ordering.
Jiang Chao chuckled, "That's interesting. Where's the video? Let me see it."
"It was really scary. I was terrified when I saw it."
"Useless! I'll do it!" Jiang Chaoyue was even more unconvinced. He was in his mid-twenties, how could he be scared by such a moronic thing?
These are all things that have been passed down to death since we were kids.
"You'll regret this," Chen Lu said, handing his phone to Jiang Chao.
Jiang Chao waved the cigarette in his mouth, "Just kidding, I'm super brave, okay?"
Sitting next to Jiang Chao, Li Sinian nudged him with her elbow and said seriously, "Go watch from the side, I think it's bad luck."
"Are they two idiots?"
After finishing his rant, Jiang Chao leaned against the railing by the river, a cigarette between his fingers and his phone in the other, looking incredibly arrogant.
"I, your father, want to see where that is..."
Holy crap!
Jiang Chao flung his phone away with a jolt, and it hit the wooden fence before falling into the water with a splash.
The group looked at each other, speechless for a moment.
The atmosphere suddenly became a little awkward.
Jiang Chao coughed twice, crushed the cigarette butt that had fallen with his phone with the sole of his shoe, and whispered:
"Um, I'll buy you a new one later..."
