Chapter 12 You Are Different

Lin Miaomiao rolled her eyes at Chen Lu and said no more.

Chen Lu rested his chin on his hand, both amused and annoyed, and said, "Liang Zhirou, are you born in the Year of the Ox? Don't you know how to take a break?"

Hearing this, Liang Zhirou, who had been hesitating about how to greet him, inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm not tired."

He actually started mocking me right away, so now I don't need to think about how to greet him.

Lin Miaomiao could easily link arms with him, but... but Chen Lu is a boy...

As Liang Zhirou lowered her head in thought, a drop of sweat slid down her delicate cheek and landed on her high, firm chest.

She wasn't lying; after seeing Chen Lu, she truly didn't feel tired anymore.

"You call this not tiring?" Chen Lu complained.

As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Lu noticed that Liang Zhirou's eyes were a little red.

Looking at Lin Miaomiao, whose expression seemed somewhat guilty, he was even more confused.

"What's wrong?" Chen Lu walked up to Liang Zhirou and leaned down slightly to look into her eyes, which were hidden under her hair.

Liang Zhirou wanted to take two steps back, but then felt that it wouldn't be good for Chen Lu. Before she could even think, she froze on the spot.

All I could do was shake my head vigorously.

"No, it's nothing." Liang Zhirou's voice was very soft, which made Chen Lu feel inexplicably sweet.

You don't look like you're alright...

However, Chen Lu quickly came up with a solution. He asked with a straight face, "Aren't we friends? You didn't even tell me this?"

He then sighed, looking quite disappointed, "Oh well, I was just being presumptuous. In the end, I gave my heart to the wrong person."

Lin Miaomiao figured there was nothing she couldn't tell Chen Lu, so she simply chuckled and asked, "Who are you?"

She made a point of repeating what Chen Lu had just said to her, showing how vengeful she was.

Liang Zhirou had never seen these two acting together before. Suddenly, her vision blurred with tears, and she confessed everything in one breath, her tone becoming very urgent.

"Because...because I spent too much money on lunch..."

She was halfway through her sentence when Chen Lu gently pressed her down into a chair.

Lin Miaomiao took out her cosplay fan and started blowing air on her.

This treatment left the girl somewhat bewildered.

Liang Zhirou lowered her head and repeated the story like a child who had made a mistake. The students in the drama club were not very exclusive and insisted on taking her with them at lunchtime.

Since everyone knew she was Lin Miaomiao's friend, she was afraid that eating plain rice with shredded potatoes would embarrass Lin Miaomiao, so she didn't buy the cheapest vegetables as usual.

Then, she inexplicably spent over thirty yuan on lunch.

She was already carefully picking out the cheapest items, but she was still startled by the number on the card when she swiped it.

Even when I eat with my mom, the cost of each meal is no more than five yuan...

The money needs to be saved for my mother's medical treatment...

She didn't dare leave any of the food she bought, even though she felt so full that she felt like vomiting.

When people from the drama club praised her for her large appetite, she didn't know what to say.

Thinking about all this again, Liang Zhirou felt more and more like a villain who used her mother's medical money to enjoy life, and tears welled up in her eyes again.

Guilt filled the girl's heart, making it hard for her to breathe.

Looking at Liang Zhirou, who was holding back tears, and Lin Miaomiao, whose eyes were also red, Chen Lu stood helplessly to the side and scratched his hair.

"A bunch of idiots," Chen Lu said helplessly.

"Everyone meant well, it was all me..." Liang Zhirou retorted softly, then seemed a little embarrassed.

She doesn't like being contradicted, so she doesn't want to contradict others.

Especially Chen Lu.

Chen Lu glanced at her and laughed, "You're the dumbest one, yet you're so kind-hearted. No one can surpass you when it comes to playing the fool."

Liang Zhirou felt embarrassed and pursed her lips, lowering her head even further.

But she didn't dislike Chen Lu talking about her like that; on the contrary, she liked hearing his voice.

Especially when Chen Lu spoke with a light laugh, his voice warmed her heart.

He was also a little curious, "Why didn't you cry when you treated me to dinner back then?"

"You are different."

Liang Zhirou lowered her head and crossed her arms, speaking very earnestly.

Now Chen Lu was caught off guard and didn't know what to say. "It was fine when you treated me to such an expensive meal, but it's not okay for you to eat it yourself?"

A slight smile inexplicably appeared on Chen Lu's lips.

I feel a bit honored, even though in the end I still spent my own money.

After a short while, seeing that Liang Zhirou's mood had calmed down considerably, and that her regret had been replaced by shame for revealing her true feelings to Chen Lu, Chen Lu turned his head to look into the distance.

In the distance, the drama club members were still busily making arrangements, and a few people were constantly flipping through the script, discussing something together.

Students in sportswear would occasionally run past Chen Lu, and many of them were drawn to Lin Miaomiao's attire as they passed by.

There's this idiot in the blue tracksuit who's already run five or six laps. He keeps glancing at me every time I pass by, even though he's about to be exhausted.

Neuropathy.

Even when I was a simp, I wasn't as abstract as you.

Chen Lu looked up at the sun hanging high in the sky and squinted, stimulated by its brightness.

The temperature in April and May is characterized by its unpredictability.

He patted Liang Zhirou's head, glanced at Lin Miaomiao, and then walked towards the drama club members.

"Take a break, I'll go help."

Seeing Chen Lu's retreating figure, Liang Zhirou quickly stood up.

"I'll go too."

Unexpectedly, Lin Miaomiao stopped her again. Looking at Liang Zhirou's puzzled eyes and slightly furrowed brows, Lin Miaomiao said with a mix of anger and laughter, "He's here to help his friend in the student council. You can't help him with the things he wants to do."
