Chapter 25 Bargaining

I had to trick this stubborn, somewhat endearingly simple-minded guy step by step.

"I...I'm not suitable..." Liang Zhirou quickly refused; she had no intention of going.

She had considered tutoring before, but because she was too shy, she was replaced after only one trial lesson.

She hasn't looked for that type of part-time job since then.

"It's okay, what are you afraid of? Teaching my sister is much better than going to a stranger's place."

Seeing the girl shaking her head like a rattle drum, Chen Lu bent down, stretched out his index finger and gently pressed it against her forehead to make her stop.

"Do you remember our promise?" Chen Lu asked, gazing at her.

Liang Zhirou blinked. The boy's determined gaze reassured her considerably. After a few seconds, she finally made up her mind and slowly spoke:

"I...I'll give it a try?"

"That's more like it." Chen Lu sat back down with satisfaction and took a sip of coffee. "This is what my parents decided. You can teach her a lesson first and see if they're satisfied. If they are, then it will be two days every weekend, two hours in the evening, three hundred per hour."

"Too...too expensive..."

"Pfft! Cough cough cough..."

Chen Lu nearly choked to death; his mind couldn't process what was happening for a moment.

"What did you say? Too expensive?!" He looked incredulous.

You're insane!

"You're paid to work, what do you mean by 'too expensive'? Liang Zhirou, are you stupid?" After coughing, Chen Lu was both angry and laughing.

Liang Zhirou was a little embarrassed by the laughter and muttered with her head down, "I'm just stupid... that's why I can't teach well."

“You’d be so stupid you wouldn’t have gotten into this school.” Chen Lu said, while showing her on his phone the fees other students from the university charged for tutoring. “Look, they’re all from our school.”

They all charge several hundred yuan per hour, with experienced ones charging even more, yet parents still scramble to get their hands on them.

Parents have never hesitated to spend money on their children's education, always doing their best.

Seeing that the girl was still shaking her head, Chen Lu continued, "Since you're so silly, how about 250 a hour? That's perfect for you. I can't go any lower."

Chen Lu found it strange; it felt like the roles had been reversed.

This tutor not only refuses to raise the price, but keeps trying to lower it further.

This is truly something I've never seen before.

"How about making it a little cheaper?" Liang Zhirou bit her lip and quietly raised her head, afraid that she would see Chen Lu staring at her angrily. Fortunately, Chen Lu was looking at her speechlessly, so she continued to mutter softly, "How about...two hundred?"

She still felt 200 yuan an hour was too high. Based on eight classes a month, teaching sixteen hours a day would earn her 3200 yuan...

This is even higher than her part-time salary at the hot pot restaurant.

"You can give it to me for free," Chen Lu said irritably.

"Free is fine too... but that would have to be when I'm not working part-time." The girl was very serious, completely oblivious to the fact that Chen Lu had just been sarcastic.

Anyway, she's Chen Lu's sister. As long as she doesn't mind that I'm not a good teacher, I'll just give it to her for free.

She was willing to help Chen Lu, even if it would be tiring.

Chen Lu remained silent, simply staring intently at her.

Liang Zhirou couldn't tell what he was thinking.

"You...you don't need to be angry." The girl's voice was timid. She didn't dare to look up when Chen Lu didn't speak, but she would steal a glance from time to time to see what Chen Lu's expression was.

After a short while, Chen Lu slowly got up, sat down next to her expressionlessly, and reached out to rub her head.

Liang Zhirou did not resist and just kept her eyes tightly closed.

Chen Lu used a little force, but quickly and gently tidied her up.

He then took a deep breath and smiled helplessly, "Two hundred it is then."
