Chapter 464 Hungry, hungry, hungry

She used to be so attached to her when she was in elementary school... But then she got pregnant, and Xiaomeng's parents stopped sending her over so often, and they gradually drifted apart.

“They’ve already started working, how could they possibly still cling to you like they did when they were kids?”

Chen Lu sighed for a moment. Liang Zhirou, this silly and simple-minded girl, didn't seem to age at all. Being by her side every day, he couldn't feel that his age had changed much.

Seeing the child grow up made me realize, oh, he's not young anymore.

"Sister-in-law, am I better?"

As the couple were reminiscing, Chen Mo suddenly leaned over and took Liang Zhirou's arm, looking at her with blinking eyes: "Look at me, I've been clinging to you for over ten years, and we've never grown apart."

Liang Zhirou thought to herself that this was indeed the case. She was just starting to feel touched when she asked blankly, "Are you planning to ask me to speak up for you when Mom starts pressuring you to go on blind dates?"

"..."

Chen Mo couldn't help but glare at Chen Lu. It was all this guy's fault for doing nothing right every day; even her sister-in-law wasn't as easy to fool as before.

"How are Yunqi and Muxue's grades?" She also turned her head to look at the two human cubs. This grandma and maternal grandma really spoiled them. They were afraid they would melt if they put them in their mouths.

"Mu Xue goes without saying, but Yun Qi is just like you back then, always smug about getting a little over 100 on his English test."

Chen Mo suddenly chuckled twice, patted his chest, and said, "Send this to this brat, and I'll teach him."

She hasn't moved out all these years, and when she has nothing to do, she stays at home like a good-for-nothing. Fortunately, the elderly couple has never felt that their home is lonely.

"It's a good thing your brother earns money, otherwise we wouldn't be able to afford a tutor like you who's a professor-level tutor," Chen Guanglin, who was sitting next to him, suddenly said.

Upon hearing this, Chen Mo's chin practically flew to the sky as he smugly asked Chen Guanglin, "Dad, you probably never imagined we'd be colleagues for a few more years, did you?"

Chen Guanglin's lips curled into a smile. "That's true."

"Don't call me 'daughter' at school anymore, call me Professor Chen."

"Very good, Professor Chen is young and promising."

"Oh, not at all, I still need to learn more from Director Chen."

Chen Lu listened silently to the father and daughter's mutual flattery. Liang Zhirou was holding a plate of freshly washed strawberries, picking and choosing, and feeding him the best ones.

After a while, Chen Lu was halfway through his meal when his eyes fell on the plate, and he suddenly realized something was wrong.

"You fed me all the good food, what will you eat later?"

Liang Zhirou blinked blankly, then reached out and offered him another one, saying softly, "The good ones are sweeter."

I have this feeling that this silly guy answered something, but also that he didn't say anything at all.

"You've practically turned me into a useless piece of trash. All I do all day is babble, 'Wife, I'm hungry, I need food.'" Chen Lu tried his best to mimic that stupid voice.

"That's perfect. I'll make sure you can't live without me, so I don't have to worry about those young girls having designs on you every day..."

Chen Lu snorted coldly, gently squeezed her hand back, and said calmly but firmly, "I can't live without you anymore."

Liang Zhirou paused, looked around to make sure no one was listening, then leaned close to Chen Lu's ear and whispered:

"Me too..."

These days, whenever I come across a funny video, the first thing I think of is showing it to Chen Lu, just to see him laugh.

When she sees something delicious or fun, her subconscious reaction is whether Chen Lu will like it, rather than herself.

Even before they're fully awake, they'll cover each other with a blanket when they wake up in the middle of the night, and they'll cuddle and snuggle for a while before getting up in the morning.

Holding hands has become as natural as holding your own left hand with your right, but without it, I always feel like a part of my body is missing...

The same applies to Chen Lu; she can sense it.

Having been together for so long, they had unknowingly become a part of each other's lives.

Like ink drops falling into water, they are faintly discernible yet forever inseparable.

Liang Zhirou rested her head on Chen Lu's shoulder, her eyes crinkling slightly as she quietly savored the feeling of nestled against this man.

We're practically an old married couple now, chatting like this feels a bit too sweet...

But I'm so happy.
